Rper: Catalyst Spark
Character type: permanent
Name: Wavelength
Nicknames: Lil' Wave
Gender Identity: Mech
Approx age: Around Sideswipe's age/young adult/born when Crystal City fell
Alliance: Decepticons
Function/Job: Pacifist (But gets away with it via helping with stealth)
Height: 18 feet even
Approx mass:Cirrus Vision SF50 light jet
Cybertronian type: Normal Cybertronian
Personality: Wavelength is youthful and, as such, has ended up idolizing another Decepticon. He looks up to Soundwave and has even been known to go as far as attempting to mimic him by modulating his voice and forcing himself to speak in monotone, though this is only around those Wavelength does not know or trust, a mask to try to keep himself safe. Even though Wavelength is a natural with light he does attempt, and often fail, to manipulate sound as his idol does, sometimes to rather humorous end results.
When he's not trying to mimic Soundwave, Wavelength is actually a rather insecure, timid and respectful young mech. His personality is not that of a Decepticon, he only joined because the one he looks up to is a Decepticon. He hates having to cause harm to another and tries to avoid being a part of the main battle due to it. If not attacked or if he doesn't have orders, he would be rather content to have a chat with an Autobot. Wavelength is simply a misguided young mech, but he is too wrapped up in his fascination with Soundwave to leave the Decepticons. So he remains, hiding the soft spoken, gentle natured and good humored mech he actually is.
Appearance: Wavelength stands 18 feet exact, his growth having been stunted by his premature removal from his creator. The default color of his armor is white, however it normally appears any color but, due to him constantly shifting the light waves around him to make his color look different. He has a rather slender build, light armor which is useful for his agility. Unlike most jet framed Cybertronians, Wavelength's wings do not stick out much from his back, instead they are attached right above where his shoulder blade would be at a 45 degree angle, the rest of the wing is then attached by a hinged area and folds down to lay against his back. He can move his hinged wings up and down but normally doesn't, when he does, however, it is normally to gather more light thus to have more to work with. His legs are plantigrade and, for a mech, he actually has pretty small feet. He has a V-shaped lower face mask which helps to hide his expressions, this mask can, however, retract at will.
He has three engravings on his true form, designs he picked up from other worlds, one on the left side of his face from above the optic ridge to the chin, one on his left chest from mid inner chest all the way down his side and ending right above his hip, the final beginning on the outside of his hip and going down his thigh to end at his knee. He also has a pair of small crystals hanging on small chain which had been attached to the left side of his helm. All of these markings were self done additions to his frame.
Alt mode: Cirrus Vision small jet
Holoform:
Weapons: His ability with light, though it is often not used offensively. When he does use it for offense, it can be devastating. He can concentrate light into walls of superheated rays, beams, etc which can slice and melt right through even thick armor, but he has sworn to himself to never use that sort of attack again.
Abilities: Wavelength has a natural gift when it comes to light, being able to bend, shift, concentrate and disperse light at will. He often uses this for hiding from view via bending the light around himself, causing him to pretty much vanish. He's also been known to concentrate light enough to cause heat when he needs to warm up. Seeing him playing with the light is a very common thing, to the point where, though his armor's default color is white, he can make it whatever color he wishes when he wishes by simply altering the light waves around him. Due to his ability he is also hyper aware of light and every shift in it, making sneaking up on him or cloaking from him very, very difficult.
Strengths: His kindness is a strength, though one most Decepticons do not realize. He is strong willed, brave and gentle. As devastating as his ability could be if used offensively, it is not his strength, who he is and the fact he has not lost himself in this war is his true strength. He is also very, very agile and quick.
Weaknesses: Extreme fear of the dark. Without light he will panic. His lighter armor means he cannot take a hit too well and taking on weapons fire would hurt like all hell. His smaller size is also a disadvantage, since, well, let's face it, most bots could likely throw him a decent distance.
Family: (Both died in the fall of Crystal City)
History: Wavelength's life got off to a very bad start. Both of his parents had been working in Crystal City before it was attacked. In the rush to get out his parents both perished while his mother was still carrying him, his saving grace was that a friend of his family who knew they were expecting ran by and realized what had happened. In the hopes it wasn't too late this friend opened up his mother's lifeless frame to pull the, at the time, forming Wavelength out. Knowing there wasn't much time the one who saved the young bot's life shelter him in their own chassis and ran from the falling city. He found a safe place, where Wavelength would have the chance to survive, to hook Wavelength's now stunted protoform up to a conduit so he could finish forming, though he would never achieve his full size, he did survive.
He grew up cared for by the group he had been brought to, mostly sheltered from the war, or at least the most one could be sheltered. His first vorn of life was full of study, however such a peace simply could not last in such trying times. One day the sanctuary of his new home was disturbed by the war, a neutral group caught in the middle of a fight they wished nothing to do with. As the buildings of the small village were destroyed he tried to run and hide, seeing the people who had cared for him as a community being destroyed. Fearful that he'd be next he ducked behind fallen debris only for an Autobot to find him, seeing the frightened young mech, the Autobot approached hoping to help. Regrettably this startled Wavelength and, due to having such limited control and understanding of his ability to bend light, Wavelength turned this ability against the one who wished only to help, a wide beam of super concentrated light energy tore through the Autobot, melting right through their armor before they fell, lifelessly, nothing more than a smoldering chassis remaining. That was the day Wavelength learned to fear his own power, and the day that caused him to vow to never use it to harm again. Wavelength never knew the one he killed had been an Autobot, nor did he care. It was still a life taken by his own gift.
Having survived the battle, Wavelength began seeking a way to understand and control his own ability to avoid such a thing happening again. He soon learned of a Decepticon named Soundwave who's control of sound was unmatched. He wished to learn from the older mech and respected him for that control. As such Wavelength began to idolize Soundwave, joining the Decepticons to be able to meet the other mech, hoping to learn from him and maybe even get to know him. He has used his abilities to keep Decepticons from view, hide transports and weapons until they were needed and many other means due to being able to make himself and others/things vanish from view. The Decepticons never learned just what Wavelength was capable of offensively, the young mech keeping it a closely guarded secret, knowing, if they ever found out, they would try to force him to use it against another being, something he is simply not willing to do.
Being among the Decepticons meant he had to hide other aspects of himself as well. They only see the youthful, somewhat withdrawn but energetic side of the young mech, they are unaware of just how kind, caring and gentle Wavelength is. He is well aware that, if they knew, he would be in danger, so he keeps up a mask, partly by mimicking Soundwave. However, one young girl, a techno-organic captured by the Decepticons for experimentation, has seem the true face of Wavelength, and to him, as far as he cares, she is a little sister and he does intend to protect and help her the best he is able.
