Vic chuckled a bit, handing Sven the trench back once they were inside the restaurant, she looked around before heading right to one of the booths, one with a back to the wall and started looking over the menu to see what looked good. She was likely to order more than she could eat in one go but she normally did that anyways.

Sven took the coat, putting it back on and sitting at the booth Vic had chosen across from her. Back to the wall, it was a good choice. It certainly made it more difficult for someone to sneak up on her, which was a very valuable advantage. He sort of wanted to have the same set up but he was not about to push his luck sitting next to her, especially considering her bro would likely want to sit next to her.

Lance sat in the booth as well near Vic and looked at a menu for a long moment, though his thoughts were somewhat distracted about the trip down towards Texas. He was reluctant to leave a life he really didn't mind now, enjoying traveling with Vic and having the closeness of family almost yet he had too many risks being there as well with the Decepticons so close. But as Vic said earlier it was best to talk in the morning and he'd tell her then but had a feeling she'd likely hate the idea as well.
Shaking his head Lance decided he'd get the taco salad after a bit of thinking and set his menu down. Though the uneasiness began to creep up on him again and the last thing he wanted was the two wondering what was wrong. "I'll be back." he said to Sven and Vic before standing and leaving to the restroom for a bit even though he didn't have to go.

Vic looked to Lance, tilting her head a bit, she knew his holoform didn't need to use restrooms so when he headed that way she gave him a really puzzled look. "Hmph. . ." was all that came from her as she briskly shook her head, forcing herself more aware through pure will, something was bothering Firelaunch and it was worrying her. She looked through the menu, finding some items with the highest nutritional value she could and decent amounts of starches, if he was that bothered, she was going to make herself more alert and get what she needed to sober up faster. She placed her order with the waitress before putting her menu down, looking over at Sven "Dude, he's seemed to be, well, a little off since I mentioned that job in Texas to him. Any idea why?" she asked, her voice lowered and her slurring forced back. If one did not know how much she had been drinking, she could near be mistaken for sober though her BAC was still rather high, but the tone in her voice was that of concern and a bit stern, this was worrying her a good bit.

Sven looked at her, slightly surprised by the sudden seemingly soberness, though when he recalled what she had told him earlier it made sense. "The biggest thing I can think of right now is that the main Decepticon base is in Texas. He's probably not to keen on being spotted by one of them any time soon, which might be why he was so tense when I first showed up. He's got a reputation for disappearing for stretches of time after all, which can easily lead to suspicion." Quite honestly the thought of them going to Texas was unsettling to him too but he tried not to show it, it was not something he really needed to get into right now. Besides, if anyone should tell her about exactly why it should be the one who's been with her a while, he didn't exactly want to explain that he had scanned her for fear of getting decked.

Lance rested his hands on the counter, staring at his reflection for a long moment as he thought of how he'd avoid serious trouble if he did go briefly from Vic to due his usual rounds of sneaking in and getting information. There was so few who trusted him as it was and he already had a growing rep on both sides of being a loner but if they knew the real reason of him being gone so long, well he really didn't want to think about it. Turning on the water in the sink he briefly splashed his face a few times to get his head straight and clear his mind. After drying his face he finally calmed his anxious feelings and finally came out returning to the booth,"Sorry just needed a moment." He said trying to play it off.

Vic nodded at what Sven said and, when Lance returned, she looked right at him, being that he had been around her for a bit he'd likely noticed that she was forcibly buzz killing herself "'Launch hun, why didn't ya tell me what was in Texas? If ya that worried, well, they'll be other jobs, ya know I tend to get really random work, somethin' else would come up, it always does. Ya could a'ways meet my mom some otha time too." she said, reaching to rest a hand on his shoulder. She didn't want to cause him more strife if she could avoid it.

Sven looked at Lance, suspecting he was right about why he was a bit tense about the idea, or at least close. Still, sooner or later he would have to show up to avoid too much suspicion. The ice was thin as it was and one wrong move could end in disaster. But there was also Vic's safety to take into consideration. The further she stayed from the Decepticon base the better and turning this job down would just buy that much more time.

"It's texas I'm worried about Vic but we can go down to Louisiana and meet your mom. Just the fact of being away from the Con base too much...my rep isn't the best." Lance said looking her in the eyes before sighing,"And the fact is I didn't want to spoil your guys' good time either so I kept from saying something." He said but kept his voice low before the waitress returned and he put in his order before she left though he shook his head. And unfortunately Firelaunch was playing a dangerous game for what he did, teetering on being discovered and likely killed or put in the brig, depending on the circumstances.

"Hmmmmm. . ." came from the redhead as she laced her fingers together, elbows on the table, her chin resting on the backs of her hands "To keep you safe, appearances must be kept then. That I can understand, hell, I'm conned enough people in my earlier years to understand that, though I would worry of what would occur, if you'd be harmed when you went check in, you know me, I'm a protective bitch. . ." said before looking right at Sven, a smirk coming to her lips "Unless ya had someone watchin' ya back in there. Whaddaya say Swindle? If he needs to show up just to keep up appearances, you watch out for 'im? Afta all, consiterin' here ya are leisurely keeping us company, I would hazard guess you've not hostility towards him, an' a few new allies neva hurts. Keep 'im safe an' I won't find a way to pull you apart wire by wire while you're suspended by your own cables and use ya armor for a welding sculpture while it's still attached." she said grinning a bit, it was hard to tell if she put that last part in for impact, as a joke, or as a warning.

Swindle looked at Vic slightly surprised, unable to tell for sure if she was serious or not. She was right about having a sadistic side, he had to wonder if even Vortex had come up with that one yet. "I could see about doing so but it's not like I'm around all the time. I travel a bit for business and the Decepticons don't exactly know about all the business I do. There's also the fact that if me and my brothers get called away for something I don't have much choice in the matter, it's a sort of all or nothing thing there. Granted I don't think that's likely to happen in the immediate future but it's still a possibility."

lance looked at Vic with a surprised look, not expecting that at the time and wasn't sure if she was serious. Though the stubborn side of him seemed to win over this time, "Swindle's right sis even he's busy and unfortunately he can't exactly go all of where I go, or vice versa." He said,"And honestly you know me by now, I prefer working alone when it comes to what I do." He said a bit bluntly. Though Lance knew he'd get a retort for it yet that wasn't going to stop him from being a loner still despite connections he was growing to have. Though there was also that one part of him that was saying it was about time to start choosing a side.

Vic sighed, facepalming "I gotta spell it out, don't I? See, there's a reason I tend to not be subtle! What I mean is, for when you do go 'Launch, it doesn't hurt to at least know there's someone you can contact if shit goes badly. . ." she said looking between the two now "I don't mean bein' stuck up each other's ass the whole time, jus', that if shit goes wrong, someone to be able to give a heads up to ta make sure ya not completely alone. Kinda a cover ya ass kinda thing. I mean. . ." she looked at Lance then "Bro, lets face it, I'm human, yea, I may be able to take down one or two with my skills, knowledge an' speed, but the fact of the matter is if shit hits the proverbial fan, I can't exactly go in an' start bustin' heads, as willing as I would be to do so when it comes down to the wire. There's kinda this whole size issue thing. Just be nice to have someone for, if things get bad, to be able to make sure ya come outta it alive. Get what I mean now?" she said, looking at both of them with that final question as the food came.

"Having someone to contact is one thing but there's still no guarantee I could help much at all." Sven said with a sigh. "Fact is if something does go wrong and, as you put it, shit hits the fan there's a decent chance my brothers and I could be the ones ordered to hunt him down, and if we don't deliver it's all of out heads. Sorry but I'm not about to risk my entire family for one mech, not when they're all I've had for so long." He shook his head a bit. "And even if that's not the case, I get caught acting too far out of line and my brothers could get pegged for it too. And if they decide to join up with us instead that's six against an army, an army I helped to arm mind you so I know they're packing some damn powerful stuff."

"Sis look I get your point and hear what your saying but the fact is I am alone on this. Like Swindle said he could very well be one hunting my ass down if the Decepticons discover I'm working both sides, and the deals he can make for weapons makes the Decepticons some lethal enemies. And you are my sister but I'm sure as the pit not risking your life or swindle and his brother's lives." Lance said firmly. He hated going against Vic's suggestion and what they should do but him and Swindle both knew it wasn't worth it and neither was important enough to be risking her life where Vic might very well get killed no matter how good she was."Just face the fact that I work better alone." He murmured and just went to eating in silence.
