~“I can do that.”~ Jazz managed to reply before he simply lost it as Red started laughing and fell off the end of the berth, leaving the silver mech to fall back on the bed again laughing so hard he was clutching his chest, his feet reflexively kicking randomly. Jazz rolled up onto his side and was slapping the berth with his hand, and had he been human, tears would be streaking down his face he was laughing so hard. When he did finally calm down enough to look over at Red, he was still giggling randomly. ~“Oh Primus, I think I’m gonna die now…”~ he muttered through the giggles as he crawled over to peer over the end of the berth at Red, looking rather like a cat peeking over the counter. __,,,^o.o^,,,__ ~“You sure you’re okay down there, Red?”~ he asked, trying very hard not to go into another giggle fit, and was slowly losing the battle.

Red Alert was in a small tangle of limbs at the end of the berth, giggling. ~"It's actually quite comfy down here."~ He replied with a grin, breaking down into more laughter. ~"You need to see yourself from this angle, Jazz! You look like a curious turbo fox!"~ He stated in laughter, attempting to untangle himself. ~"I think I'm stuck."~ He giggled, trying to bring his laughter under control, succeeding for a moment, only to remember the look on Jazz's face and burst out laughing again.

Jazz completely gave up trying to get himself back under control again, laying there helpless, randomly slapping the berth as he laughed uncontrollably with his new friend. When they both finally calmed down again, Jazz pulled himself further over and reached down with both hands to help Red disentangle himself finally so he could get up again. ~“Hang on, Red, I’ll help ya out of there.”~ he offered and carefully pulled the Security Chief up to at least an untangled sitting position before sitting up himself. ~“Oh Primus, Red, we gotta do that regularly. It feels so good to just laugh like that with a friend, even if it wears ya out a bit. I think we both needed that release.”~ he observed, still smiling, though his giggle fits had finally subsided, but only just. War was often horrifically stressful for everyone, and having a good emotional release like that often helped alleviate the built up stress and anxiety that weighed down on a mech and could push them into a deep melancholy or make them exceedingly irritable, and neither option was good for morale nor their fighting edge. Such things caused fatal mistakes, as Jazz had seen far too many times already.

Red Alert was finally calming down as well as Jazz helped him out of the tangle he'd gotten himself into. Climbing back onto the berth to sit, Red Alert grinned. ~"I can go for that. In fact..."~ A mischievous smirk spread across his face. ~"I think the whole base needs a good dose of it. And, with most of the security system either down or not yet set up, it would be the best time to set up a morale-boosting prank or three to lift some spirits here. After all, once the system is up and running, I'll be watching."~ He added the last part as a challenge to Jazz.

Jazz pondered that with a grin. ~“Oh, I could definitely pull something for that. After what’s happened I think we all need a good morale boost. You got anything cycling in that processor of yours?”~ he asked with a light chuckle. Jazz of course had a few ideas, all harmless and good for laughs, plus his usual antics and silliness that would get his friends chuckling and shaking their heads at the very least, if not out right laughing as much as Jazz and Red Alert had just been.

~"Something nice and big in the rec room or cafeteria, perhaps?"~ Red Alert chuckled. ~"That's about as far as my ideas go. I'm supposed to be here to stop stuff like that, remember?"~ The smirk widened a bit. ~"After all, I did say the 'whole base,' didn't I? Call it a challenge. Can you prank me before I find a way to prank you?"~

Jazz chuckled at that. ~“Oh trust me, I have a few ideas.”~ he replied with a smirk. ~“I don’t like to offend or stress someone out, but a good joke is always fun.”~ he said and stood up, taking a few steps forward as he stretched out his servos before dropping into a random handstand and twisting himself around, then dropping into a slide to end up on his left side, head propped on his left hand, right arm draped over his side, right knee up, left leg straight in line with his chassis and his right foot behind his left knee. He looked over at Red Alert curiously for a moment. ~“You know, I never really figured you for much of a prankster honestly. You seem too preoccupied with other things to bother.”~ he offered honestly. ~“Me on the other hand,”~ he gestured with his right hand and then rolled onto his back to look up at the ceiling, right knee still up and hands clasped over his chest. ~“I just like seeing my friends smile, you know? If I can get someone to smile or laugh every Cycle, then I’m a happy mech. I’ve done my job.”~ he gave Red a grin. ~“Getting you to laugh so hard you fell off your berth, I swear that was good enough to cover me for a Deca-Cycle. But I ain’t gonna stop trying every Cycle though.”~ He looked back to the ceiling again. ~“Too many bots need it.”~ he added softly.

~"I never was a prankster, but a challenge is always fun."~ Red Alert replied with a grin, chuckling at Jazz's antics. ~"Besides, I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm going to end up learning anyways, so I might as well do it willingly."~ Stretching his arms over his head, he leaned back against the wall. ~"And we all have our own way of making sure everyone is happy. Mine is going to be watching over the base from the security room. And being a paranoid glitch."~ He shrugged. ~"If that's what it takes to keep everyone safe, and find possible spies and such, of course, then so be it. I never was the most sociable of mechs."~

Jazz chuckled at that. ~“You do alright with me. Maybe you’re one who does best with a select few trusted friends rather than the bright cheery mech everyone loves like me.”~ he observed, glancing over at Red. ~“Well, okay, not everyone loves me, but most Autobots I’ve met like me at least. Just how I am really, I like making friends. Decepticons hate me, which is just as well since the feeling’s mutual and all. I have a thing against being shot at.”~ Jazz snickered then, thinking about the battles he’s been in and how he ran circles around the Decepticons only to frustrate them intensely before he and the others dropped them.
~“Ironhide grunts irritably at me a lot, but I’ve caught him with a smirk on his face plate more than once because of something I’ve said or done. He was part of the security forces before the war n turned his back on Megatron outright. He came looking for Optimus by his own choice to help us, n he’s been training a lot of bots to fight, including Optimus n his brother Magnus. Prime made him Weapons Specialist and his own bodyguard. Ratchet, Chief Medical Officer; good mech, odd sense of humor, always wins when Ironhide tries to argue with him about getting repaired.”~ Jazz chuckled with the last bit, having heard a few of those arguments. ~“Cliffjumper n his little brother Bumblebee are young but strong, brave Sparks, won’t back down from a fight. Those two were guarding the Allspark when the aliens attacked, they chose to stand with Optimus too; same with Prowl n Blue Streak, joined Optimus day one. Wheeljack’s an old friend of Ratchet’s; he’s a bit crazy but his Spark’s in the right place. Blaster’s young but more than eager to prove his worth and loyalty to Optimus. Funny thing is, Blaster can access communications and systems like Soundwave’s rumored to be able to. Personally, I’m glad we got a mech like that on our side, he helps keep the coms secure.”~
Jazz shook his head and sat up. ~“Slag, there’s a lot of mechs I know, lot of them I’ve known since well before the war even. I’m careful, observant, I gather info from everywhere. Believe me, I know who we can trust n who’s on the suspect list.”~ He looked over at Red thoughtfully. ~“I’ve got files on just about every Autobot we’ve got, and on a good number of Decepticons too. If you want I can upload you copies, help make your job a bit easier.”~ Jazz offered, hoping Red would accept and could use the help. He was new to the job and in Jazz’ point of view he was likely going to end up the best suited mech for such a job. He certainly hoped Red would survive the rigors of war for a long time, long enough to see peace return to Cybertron and their race. The idea of that made Jazz smile softly.

~"Copies of the files would definitely help. Soft and hard copies. Though, that can wait until the security room is done. Having the files will do no good if we don't have somewhere safe to put them."~ Red Alert let out a small sigh. There was so much work that had to be done. ~"Speaking of, might as well get to work on that now. The sooner that's done, the sooner I can finish everything else, and recharge a bit easier."~ He was sure that was going to end up being a partial lie. He wasn't sure if having the system up and running would allow him to recharge easier. It would probably make him worry more, but he wasn't about to tell Jazz that.

Jazz nodded. ~“I can help if you want, I don’t mind. As for the files, just let me know when you’re ready and I’ll upload them to ya. You can make your own hard copies though.”~ he replied with a smirk and a wink. He then rolled onto his back and kicked his feet up, pulling himself into a handstand before twisting around to drop back onto his feet again, facing Red Alert. ~“Honestly, I don’t think any of us’ll be resting or recharging very easily until some time after the war is over. Life was so much simpler before the war, and a lot less hazardous too.”~ he said and shook his head. Like most Autobots, Jazz really hoped the war would end soon. Fighting for one’s life and dodging incoming fire on a near continuous basis was certainly not what Jazz would consider a fun time to be had.

~"I'd appreciate some help for sure."~ Red Alert replied, standing up off the berth. ~"And you do have a point. It was less hazardous. A lot less hazardous. Still, maybe I can bring enough of a secure feeling to put some ease into recharge."~ Red Alert wanted the war to end as much as any Autobot, especially before it dragged on for too long. He was sure that it was entirely possible to forget how to even act when there was no fighting if that's all one had been doing for long periods of time. ~"I hope it ends before we forget what peace was like..."~ He murmured softly.

Jazz nodded in agreement and stepped towards Red Alert. ~“There have been Cycles I sit and just think about how it was before the war, trying to remember. Sometimes it’s easier, other times I can hardly remember what it was like to be free and at peace. I miss the research we used to do…”~ he admitted in a low tone as he glanced away, one of the rare solemn moments Jazz ever expressed to anyone. There was a far off look in Jazz’ optics then as he reflected back to the Ano-Cycles before the war when the smiles were easy and the laughs deep and Spark felt. Now it was rare to see another bot smile, let alone hear them laugh, the stress of the war and seeing long time friends die, unable to help them. Ratchet seemed especially haunted, so many Sparks he tried to save only to watch in despair as they flickered and died in his hands. Jazz was worried about his old friend, about all of them.
Even the normally stoic and soft spoken brothers, Optimus and Magnus, seemed withdrawn, hardly speaking anymore except to discuss battle plans and defense strategies. Once Jazz had gone to speak to Optimus only to find the brothers sitting together, holding onto each other for support during a mutual interface trying desperately to soothe each others neural systems and find even a moment of peace. As far as Jazz knew, they hadn’t noticed him and he left them be, knowing they needed to be alone and undistributed by the rest of the universe for a while.
A thought occurred to Jazz then and he looked at Red Alert curiously. Could such a thing help Red as well? Jazz was willing to try anything at this point just to help keep Red calm and alleviate his stress levels even a little bit. ~“Red, I realize you don’t trust anyone and likely would reject such a thing but… if only to give you a moments peace and soothe your frazzled neural system, I would be willing to offer a mutual interface whenever you needed. I saw Optimus and Magnus doing so once and they both seemed calm and at peace, just sitting there together. I know it helps those in agony from damage to plug into their systems like that, offering life support and to ease their pain, maybe there’s something there to help emotionally too.”~ He tilted his head slightly as he looked at Red, fully expecting him to say no, though he hoped to be surprised with a yes.

Red Alert jumped a little, staring at Jazz with wide optics after Jazz offered his suggestion. ~"No...it's alright...I'd really rather not..."~ His frame relaxed a bit, and he let out a small sigh. ~"It's not you...I've just...."~ He grew silent for a few moments, calming his screaming glitch down enough to find the words to tell Jazz. ~"I've never let anyone, not even my creators, have an interface connection with me. It's...It's very personal. You understand, right?"~ He trusted Jazz, that much he knew, but what Jazz had offered was on a level of trust that Red had never given to any bot, so part of the truth was, he didn't know how much he would have to trust, or if it could even ever be done. ~"I will keep your offer in mind, though. Would...would it still be open at a later date?"~

Jazz nodded and lowered his gaze, accepting the response he knew would be a ‘no’. ~“Yeah, it’s alright, dun worry bout it, Red. I understand.”~ What Red said next did lift his Spark a bit with the hope that maybe one day Red Alert would trust him that much. Jazz smiled at him then, an easy, soft, reassuring smile. ~“Hey, sure, no problem, Red. Whenever your ready, I’ll be here.”~ he offered in a soft yet cheerful tone. He knew Red trusted him to at least help alleviate his static glitch attacks and Jazz was more than willing to help him after seeing just how excruciating they were. Jazz at least had hope he could help Red Alert further one day, he just had to figure out how to earn the paranoid mech’s trust. Today was at least a start, easing Red’s glitch attack and managing to get him to really laugh, probably for the first time in his life. It made Jazz feel good knowing he’d helped someone like that, it always made Jazz feel good to see his fellow Autobots smile and laugh, even just a little. Remembering the laughing fit they shared made Jazz giggle a bit, his optics shining at the memory. ~“Primus that felt good though…”~ he murmured softly as the memory played through his processor, a memory he would deeply cherish.
