Ironhide frowned and hugged Barricade more firmly to him. ~"Aw, 'Cade..."~ he murmured softly when the younger mech told him what had happened, how they had him bound and collared like a slave or piece of property. When Barricade mentioned he heard Ironhide's voice in the dream, he froze for a moment, looking at Barricade and growing more worried. ~"What happened? What'd ya hear?"~ he asked softly then, almost afraid of the younger mech's answer.

~"Them talking, but it was in their dialect. 'N then...they came in...'n they had you, and you looked like the Pit. They...they'd bound you too, 'n they dumped you on their berth. You were hollerin' and fightin' still. Then Hatchet looked over, and he said 'I told you we would kill any mech who tried to take you from us.' Then they....then they..."~ His vocalizer shut off before he could continue as he buried his face into Ironhide's armor, holding back the sobs and cries of what had happened next.

Ironhide's optics closed and he vented heavily, hugging Barricade against him and rocking gently, lowering his head to rest his cheek against Barricade's cranial plating. ~"They did ta me what they done ta you, didn't they..."~ he stated as much as asked. ~"It's alright, 'Cade. Ya dun belong ta them, they got no right ta lay any claim on ya. Yer safe now, I won't let em get hold o' ya ever again, I swear ta Primus I won't let 'em."~ he offered reassuringly, keeping his deep gravelly voice soft and as comforting as possible as he rocked the younger mech, holding him protectively.

Barricade nodded into where he'd buried his head in Ironhide's armor, not trusting his vocalizer with speaking completely. <~"I'm more scared for you...if they catch you..."~> He didn't complete the sentence. He knew what would happen. They already knew Ironhide was someone that Barricade cared about, and had used threats of harming Ironhide to get Barricade to comply multiple times. Since Barricade had escaped from them, he knew it wasn't going to be just threats should they get a hold of either of them; it was going to be an action.

Ironhide nodded a bit and just held onto his dear young friend for several long quiet moments, rocking him and rubbing his back to sooth his stress and fears as much as he could. When he finally spoke, his tone was soft and gentle, but serious. ~"'Cade, will ya let me see it? Show me what they did? N show me the nightmare, 'bout me?"~ he asked as gently as he could, bringing one hand back and letting his cyber tendril slither out and into his hand, offering it to Barricade while keeping his other arm firmly around the younger mech, rubbing his back still.

Barricade turned his head and looked at Ironhide's cyber tendril, watching it as he though about Ironhide's offer. After several moments, he nodded slightly. ~"If you want to...but...it's not pretty..."~ He cautioned, bringing an arm out and offering it to Ironhide, his cyber tendril extending slightly. His other hand gripped Ironhide's frame tighter, almost as though he were afraid the larger mech would disappear.

Ironhide nodded in response. ~"I feel like I should, I have ta know, ta see fer myself what they did t' ya, ta understand how bad it really is fer ya so I can honestly help ya... so we can get through this n be free o' this... t'gether."~ he answered and let the neural threads reach out from his cyber tendril and ever so gently interlace with Barricade's, the angled ends of the tendrils closing together and interlocking to protect the delicate connection. ~"I trust ya, 'Cade..."~ he whispered softly and closed his optics, letting his hand come to rest on Barricade's side as the link was fully established.

Barricade gave a nod, and began letting the memories flow over the connection, starting with when the Dreads caught him. He moved through each memory, not paying much attention to them as he sorted and sent them, though he was fully prepared to stop if Ironhide wanted to. There were even some that he wouldn't show; they were just too horrific.

Ironhide twitched a bit as the memories started coming through, growing increasingly disgusted by them for what they did to Barricade, his Spark teetering between horrified and enraged at what he saw. He forced himself to look, to see what had happened to the younger mech, he had to know, to understand what they did to him, no matter how grotesque and brutal their actions had become. He silently urged Barricade to show him everything, to not hold anything back from him, offering gentle warmth and reassurance through the link even as he turned his head away and nearly choked as his tanks threatened to make him purge again. But he refused to ask Barricade to stop, forcing himself to take it all in, for Barricade's sake...

Barricade heard Ironhide almost choke, and pulled some of the memories further back as he pushed the last of the others through. He was stubborn and adamant about not showing the memories he'd held back, sending his own bit of reassurance that it was alright. Ironhide had seen plenty of the memories, which meant a lot to Barricade. ~"I told you it wasn't pretty..."~

By the time Barricade had finished, Ironhide was shaking noticeably, hovering somewhere between utter despair and absolute wrath, his arms tightening around the smaller mech, venting heavily trying to keep his tanks from outright unloading on him altogether. His optics were shut tight as he sat there, fighting the urges within himself, the blind rage over what they had done to Barricade filling him until he felt like he would go supernova on the spot. But Ironhide refused to move, refused to let go of Barricade, he couldn't even speak. All he could do was sit there, shaking, clutching the younger mech, his face buried against his shoulder. The burly mech now well understood the horror Barricade was forced to endure at the hands of the Dreads, and he understood how much Barricade feared the Dreads getting a hold of the Weapons Specialist, despite Ironhide's shear skill in combat, and the devastating firepower he carried.

Barricade clung to Ironhide as the older mech shook, sending another memory through the connection. This time, it was the memory of their first time together, trying to calm and soothe Ironhide, as well as calm himself. He let the memory wash over him as he sent it through the connection, keeping the memories of the Dreads away, not wanting this one to become tainted.

It took a few moments for Ironhide to calm down as the soft sensual memory of their first night together from Barricade's point of view played through the cyber link, drawing out his own memory of that first night. As the shaking began to ease up, Ironhide offered the same memory from his own point of view, showing the younger mech how he felt so drawn to Barricade and was determined to be so careful and gentle with him, how his own Spark sang out with joy and pleasure from such gently intimate rapture with Barricade cradled in his arms, and Barricade could feel how much Ironhide genuinely cared for the younger mech, even now.
As the shaking subsided, Ironhide found himself gently rocking Barricade in his arms again, his hands rubbing over the black and white mech's back as he held him. If they could not directly interface, maybe sharing the sweet memory from their own point of view might help, and he gradually let the entire memory flow through the link, every pulse of his powerful Spark, every sensation, every thread of emotion, every deep vent of his cooling systems, every moan and cry of joy Ironhide felt that night, he offered freely to Barricade.
He then began to show him other nights they shared together, one by one in vivid clarity, from the first night to the last one they shared together, showing him how the burly mech's feelings had grown during that time. He wanted, needed Barricade to know, to feel, to understand, and with those memories came the hope of healing and peace for the younger mech he held so protectively against him, and Ironhide found himself kissing Barricade softly, gathering him close in his arms in a loving and warm embrace.

Barricade let out a soft purr as the memories from Ironhide washed over him, sending his memories of the same events back to Ironhide. The memories and the rocking calmed him, and the terror of the nightmare passed completely.
His own memories showed his original levels of uncertainty and hesitation, and how he grew out of them, looking at Ironhide very much like close family, and, towards the end, a lover. He'd begun to think of Ironhide as a lover not long before their falling-out. Now, the original hesitation was back, both because of the Dreads and because of the falling-out before the war. He didn't know if he was ready, or if he would ever be ready.

As the memories passed between them, Ironhide found himself growing increasingly unable to sense where he ended and Barricade began, and he started to wonder if this was what it was like to be Spark bonded. He remembered his brother then, remembering how it felt, and his Spark cried out, but was it for his lost brother or was it for Barricade? Or was it crying for a Spark bond with one he had yet to find? Ironhide didn't know and right now he didn't care. Barricade had grown to love Ironhide once, and the big mech felt that the younger mech could do so again in time, he just had to encourage him gently, give him the confidence he needed to try again. He sent a thought through the link then with all his Spark felt hope. /~"What was can be again if ya let it, 'Cade. I won't leave ya again, I promise ya."~\ he offered softly, holding him close and letting the kiss break gently so he could rest his forehead against Barricade's. ~"I promise ya..."~ he whispered out loud.
