Derrick's heart seemed to crack, realizing by the description she gave that she had been in the same situation he had been. He closed his eyes and slowly let out a deep sigh. "Car accident... like me..." he breathed softly. "My brother and I, we can do things that can help people. It... it's not much, but maybe we can help you, at least with some of the physical pain. And maybe with time, we can help heal the rest too... if you want..." he offered her. "Don't be afraid, we won't hurt you, I promise." he added, offering her a small smile. //"There might be a way we can do this without her figuring it out, as long as she doesn't see it, only feel it."\\ he told Richard through the bond, hoping they could help her at least a little, hoping she would accept their help.

//"Yeah, hopefully."\\ Richard replied solemnly. He would certainly like to get to know the girl better before he considered revealing his true self to her. "At least you are all alive, the wheelchair and pain must not be pleasant at all but loosing a family member in an accident they didn't deserve is a whole different story. We may need to talk to your mom and get to know your family before you trust us with our skills. We're certainly not medics or anything, but we can help heal - it's hard to explain." he hoped he hadn't said too much in addition to Derrick's own response, but it couldn't hurt, since Jess's mom was probably nearby wondering if everything was okay.

Jess stared at Derrick, her eyes wide and scared that he knew, but also sympathetic. No, she hadn't lost her mother, but that was only because the car had crushed the back half, only with her. Had it been on the other side, in the front, Jess was pretty sure she would still be in the wheelchair, but without her mother. They still weren't sure how she had survived and she wasn't sure how she had either. It was one of those miracles people talked about, but never believed in till it happened to them.
"Unless you two have new physical therapies or massages, I highly doubt I haven't already gone through it," she answered softly and sniffed, slowly relaxing. She could still hear that night, echoing away in her mind.
It didn't help when she heard a shouted, "Jess, sweetie, are you all right?"
The change was immediate. Jessica suddenly tensed and pulled away, ramrod straight. A smile was plastered on her face, genuine in everything but lightness and her eyes were still glimmering from tears she had not shed yet for the pain she was in. She scrubbed off her eyes and looked over. "Fine, Mom. Just a shock of pain," she called back cheerfully.
And inside, she screamed and cried.

Derrick nodded to her response slightly. "It's hard to explain, but we can try if you let us." he offered. When he heard the shout, his expression shifted and he saw the sudden change in her, the mask going up, the walls that suddenly slammed into place, and he glanced at Richard with a worried frown as he slowly stood, looking over at the woman who shouted with a dark glare that he hid behind his sunglasses again. He did not like what he saw, what the whole ordeal had done to her, what she was forced to endure because of her family. //"I don't like this at all... Did you see the sudden change in her? The walls that went up? It's all because of them and their selfishness..."\\ he growled inwardly over the bond, his hands still holding onto hers to try and keep hers warm between his own warmth and the cup of hot chocolate he gave her.

//"Yes, I see what you mean. Perhaps we should sit down with their whole family. I can't stand seeing that kind of pain in someone...We need to demonstrate."\\ Richard replied. Derrick would know first hand that he was somewhat sensitive to others' emotions, especially those close to him. He was very empathetic.
"This is different, if you're willing to trust us." Richard rested his hand on Jess's shoulder than, outwardly indicating what looked like a reassuring gesture, but in reality he channeled a small amount of heat to Jess's tight shoulders, hoping the warmth would help relax her a little bit while she remained there. It was a very subtle shift in heat, nothing too alarming - it just seemed like his hand was abnormally warm for being in the cool air around them.

Jessica didn't know how they viewed what was happening. Of course, they were most likely right. Though, right now, they were asking her to trust them. "Well, according to my brother, I trust far too easily, but yes, I trust you. And higher then trusting you to not throw me under a bus to do away with me, which is always good news," she answered, though her tone shifted to a soft joking tone at the part about the being thrown under a bus.
She gave a tiny smile, unaware of the situation that was passing through their minds. She probably would have told them that it was nothing, that it was fine. Her brother was probably the only one who didn't fall for the happiness, though he didn't know how much his argument with their dad hurt her.
She was distracted from her thoughts when she felt Richard's hand rest on her shoulder. She looked up at him, before her eyes went back to Derrick.
"Sweetie?" her mom called, causing Jessica to look over at her, the warmth slowly forcing her muscles to relax slightly. Her head looked back at them and she looked back at her mother.
"I made a couple of friends, Mom," she called back, knowing the question that was in her mother's mind and a real, if small, smile graced her face.

Derrick looked over at Richard and nodded, then smiled to Jessica as she seemed to relax. He looked to Jessica's mother for a moment, then focused on Jessica and his brother, tuning out the world. //"Step behind her and give her your warmth. I'll work on what I can from here."\\ he suggested and knelt down in front of Jessica. "I won't hurt you, I promise. Just wrap your arms around my shoulders, it'll be okay." he whispered and eased her hot chocolate to rest between her leg and the side of the wheelchair so it wouldn't spill, then brought his hands up to slip them under her coat as he tilted his head forward to rest his forehead against her shoulder. He sought out and found the bio-electric frequency her nervous system was keyed to, then adjusted to match it before he let his hands begin to glow slightly under her jacket, hoping she would trust in him to help her. He gently ran his hand over her scars under her jacket, bringing a soft tingling sensation as he offered tiny amounts of energy to her damaged body in an effort to get her systems to jump start the healing process and hopefully ease her pain. That was his hope at least while his younger brother offered his warmth to keep her relaxed.

Richard didn't move as Derrick used his ability to repair some of the old scars and tight muscle. He kept his hand on Jessica's shoulder and let a little more heat transfer steadily to allow Derrick to work more efficiently. She wouldn't feel an overwhelming wave of heat, but this point she would definitely notice an increase in temperature. He hoped Jessica's mother wouldn't freak out when she saw what they were doing, as it would definitely look just a little odd to passing strangers! Richard knew this was what they had to do, so he stood by and kept watch as he contributed some of his own energy into the healing process.

Jessica let out a soft sigh and answered, "Okay."
With that, she then carefully obeyed, wrapping her arms around him in a hug, essentially. Her face was turned away from her mother, specifically her forehead was resting against a part of Derrick's neck, towards the base of his skull. However, as she had hidden her face from her mother's approach, Linda Ross missed the surprised look that crossed Jessica's face as she felt the warmth flood her body.
She didn't tense and she continued to hug him as the pain, daily pain she barely noticed anymore, began to ease. Not completely disappear, probably more due to Jessica's own foolishness in a wish to walk once more then damage left over from the car accident, but it eased. The scaring on her side even smoothed slightly, but the damage was five years old.
There was probably only so much that Derrick and Richard could do, but Jessica, while surprised, appreciated it.
Linda paused, though she was at the corner, unsure if she should approach the three, feeling as if she was intruding.

He didn't want to overload her system and try to heal her all at once, knowing that the attempt would put her body into shock. Once he was confident her body had begun healing itself, he let out a long gentle sigh as he gradually let his powers dissipate, easing away and letting her body completely relax in his arms. "It's alright, I promised we wouldn't hurt you." he whispered to her softly. "I can't do it all at once, but a little at a time I can help your body heal itself and take away the pain." His whispered voice was slightly shaky and he tightened his arms around her for a moment, the glow of his hands completely dissipated now. "It will take a few sessions and we will do them so long as you wish us to. All we ask is to keep our confidence. Tell no one of what we can do, of what we have done for you. Please..." he pleaded so only she could hear him. "Mine and my brother's survival and safety depends on this secret being kept." He hoped she would understand and accept, that she would protect their secret.

"You're the first to learn about our abilities...aside from those that were near me in high school when the accident happened." Richard muttered as his aura retreated. He didn't like thinking about that time in his earlier years but such was life. "It's not something we walk to others about much, like it is with your situation." he shrugs lightly, glancing over towards Jess's mom nervously, feeling the awkwardness settle in, because that's just how Richard was. Quite frankly, he was surprised they hadn't been yelled at yet.

Jessica listened, she listened to both of them. She tightened her arms a bit in her hug and she nodded a bit. "I promise to keep your secret," she answered softly and slowly released Derrick so he could pull away. She wondered how much would change, if the fragility that was her condition now, if what the surgeries couldn't fix or had actually hurt, would be healed. She decided not to ask, nor wonder about it further.
Instead, she slowly pulled back, hesitantly releasing him. She was surprised by the sound of someone approaching, having forgotten her mother was there. She looked over and smiled. "Is everything all right?" she asked softly.
"Everything is fine, Mom," Jessica answered softly and then smiled.
She knew that they would be going soon and she carefully collected the hot chocolate into her hands. "Call me soon, okay Richard?" she stated, smiling brightly at him before she reached down, easily unlocking her wheels.
Linda Ross smiled and began to walk forward, a small paper bag in hand.
((ooc: I figure it would be time to wrap it up, unless you two want it to go on longer.))

Derrick let her go and slowly stood, nodding to Jessica with a smile. He looked at her mother for a moment, keeping his expression as neutral as he could as she approached to take Jessica away, waiting for his brother to step over to him. He was always very protective of Richard, not out of any sense of control over his younger brother, but because he truly loved his brother and would flatten anyone who hurt Richard, that is if Richard didn't do so first. He looked at Jessica with a light smile then. "I'll make sure he does, Jess, you can count on that. You take care n we'll talk to you soon." he offered, giving her mother a wary glance as he reached down and picked up his own hot chocolate he had set aside to free his hands and help her. For now he hoped that what he and Richard did helped her and hoped she would ask them to do more for her. It was simply Derrick's way, to help others where he could. He was a lot like his father that way, and as compassionate as his mother had been.

"Don't worry, I'll contact you soon, Jessica." Richard assured her with a smile. He rather liked Jessica, from what he had seen so far. He was curious about how singing abilities too, since he would certainly like another person to play music with if he fate so gave him the chance. Of course, he also hoped their abilities would help her so it would their friendship could be reciprocated to to the maximum.
He took a long sip of his hot chocolate. It was getting cold as he had focused his aura elsewhere. The hot chocolate was still worth drinking, since he quickly transferred more heat to it when he focused some of his attention on it. "We'll try to arrange a meeting in a few days, if you and your mom are okay with that."

Jessica smiled brightly at them and she nodded at them. She looked over at her mother at Richard's question and she looked thoughtful before she nodded in agreement. "I don't see why it would be a problem. She has winter break coming up and your father is going to be busy late this month and into the next," she answered calmly and Jessica smiled at her mother excitedly.
"Thank you, Mom. I'll talk to you soon, okay Richard and Derrick? You two have a good day, all right?" she stated and then focused back forward.
She settled more into her wheelchair and Linda gently gripped the wheelchair handle bars before pushing her away. Jessica tried to relax and keep that feeling of calm even as they left her two friends.
Even as she left, she couldn't help but notice that a lot of her aches and pains were gone. She blinked a bit at that and her mother parked the wheelchair next to the car. Once the car door was open and both were situated, they carefully worked on getting Jessica into the car.
The minute she was sitting, Linda folded up the wheelchair and slid it into the backseat. Only when the car started, did Jessica even get close to closing the door and then she didn't until the window was rolled completely down.
And with that, they drove off.
