News for the New Guy (Ironhide, Open)

[Wash]

((20 October 2027, Outside the Autobot's entrance gate to NEST, 1425 HLT))

A man, about in his early thirties, appearance-wise, pulled the last of his small number of packs out of the bus, and onto the ground, giving a wave and a thanks to the bus driver before beginning to situate his stuff and head inside the base. A large duffle bag was on his back, a remnant from his brief time in the Air Force, and the dolly was carrying several boxes. He looked around, not seeing a guard at the gate at all. "Great. I'm lost..." He sighed, moving closer to the fence to see if there was anyone in shouting distance.

He certainly didn't look like someone with much business at a military base, as he was wearing a light-blue-based Hawaiian shirt over a brown shirt with slightly longer sleeves. His pants were brown as well, and he wore black boots on his feet. His hair was short, with a slight, wild curl to it, and his eyes were dark blue.

[Ironhide]

He was out on his rounds of the base as usual when he spotted someone lurking near the northern most entrance to the base, the one used almost exclusively by Autobots. The guy seemed a bit mousey and clearly loaded down with stuff. “Hmmm... New guy...” he grumbled to himself and sighed. “Well, better get ‘im ta where he’s supposed ta be then ‘fore he sends Red inta ‘nother one o’ his glitch fits.” he rumbled to himself and headed towards the gate. The big black GMC Topkick drove up rather casually and stopped at the gate entrance not too many yards from the apparently lost human, revving his engine once to be sure he had gotten the human’s attention.

[Wash]

Wash spotted the large black Topkick rolling towards the gate, and breathed a sigh of relief. "Oh, thank goodness. I was starting to wonder if anyone was going to come by the gate anytime soon." He smiled, looking for someone to exit the vehicle, not knowing what, or who, the truck actually was. As he watched a bit, he started gathering up his belongings.

[Ironhide]

The big black truck seemed to snort oddly at that. “Top secret base, ya got clearance?” he asked, and in that moment as if to illustrate the point, the truck moved, folding and warping on itself and standing up, transforming into a deep chested, broad shouldered, heavily built black mech standing 22 feet tall and bearing a pair of very large heavy cannons on his heavy arms. His blue optics regarded the human curiously, his hands coming to rest on his hips as he tilted his head slightly. Ironhide was not one for subtlety, that was for sure.

[Wash]

The voice confused Wash for a moment, as it sounded like it was coming fromthe truck itself. Before he could respond, the truck transformed and stood up! "Tian xiaode*!" He swore in surprise, stumbling backwards before diving behind the dolly and boxes, as if they would offer protection. "Giant transforming robots! You would've thought they would have told me about the giant transforming robots!"

((*The Chinese roughly translates to "name of all that is holy"))

[Ironhide]

The burly mech snorted derisively and shook his head. “Humans...” he muttered in his gravelly baritone and stepped forward through the gate, reaching over the stack of boxes and plucking the human from behind it, picking him up to get a better look at him. “Designation, Rank, n Orders.” he stated gruffly, hoping to snap the male out of his, whatever it was he was doing anyway. His voice was edged with years of combat and war beyond anything this human could imagine, yet the way he held the human was firm but also very gentle, making sure he didn’t harm the delicate person who was squirming frantically in his grasp. “N stop yer squirmin! I ain’t gonna hurtcha, slag it.” he rumbled irritably.

[Wash]

Wash let out a yelp when Ironhide went to pick him up, trying to scramble away, but failing. "Uh..H-Hoban Washborne. I'm a contractor to test-fly aircraft." He replied quickly, squirming and struggling in the grasp for a bit until Ironhide told him to stop. That was when he held on. "I...am at the correct base, right? NEST?"

[Ironhide]

Ironhide tilted his head slightly as he remote scanned the NEST database searching for the man’s name and orders. Finding them, he had confirmation the human was in fact supposed to be there and nodded at him. “Yup. Networked Elements: Supporters n Transformers, N.E.S.T. Global Alliance. Yer in the right place, just wrong gate. This gate’s fer us ta use so we dun gotta worry bout runnin’ over any humans comin’ n goin’. Yer supposed ta report ta the south gate.” he replied, then looked down at the dolly full of boxes and snorted again. He set Washborne down and transformed again, deciding it would be fastest if he just took the human and his gear there himself. His holoform manifested itself in front of the truck, and as Ironhide turned around and dropped his tail gate, the scruffy looking lean built man with long salt and pepper hair walked over and started loading the boxes into his bed. “Hop in the cab, I’ll take ya where yer supposed ta be.” the man said, his voice sounding much like that of the robot’s, but more human in volume.

[Wash]

"Oh. This is just where the bus dropped me off." Wash replied, continuing to hold on until Ironhide set him down once more. "Thanks, then. For the help." He grabbed some of the boxes to help load them in, then pulled the duffel bag off his back and tossed it in as well before heading towards the passenger door. "I don't think I caught your name, though." If this was where he was going to be working, then he knew it wouldn't do to not know the names of the people, or Transformers, who lived there.

[Ironhide]

The human form pushed the tailgate shut once the last box was in and looked over at Washborne. “Ya can call my holoform Michael. Real name’s Ironhide.” he said and climbed into the drivers seat and shut the door, waiting for the other man to get in. He looked over at the man then. “Dun worry, ye’ll get used ta hangin ‘round us. Just make sure ya dun get under foot though. Takes fer slaggin’ ever ta clean human goo outa between our peddes.” he teased a bit with a wry smirk.

[Wash]

Once he was in the seat, Wash made sure to buckle the sea tbelt, looking over at Micheal with a look that was somewhere between wanting to laugh, and wanting to be horrified. "I'll...remember that." He finally spoke. "And I suppose I will. I mean, I've heard about you, your kind, that is, but I just wasn't expecting to get transferred to your base. Especially without being told beforehand."

[Ironhide]

Michael chuckled a bit. “Yeah, the bosses just love ta spring surprises on people, dun they?” he said and the truck rolled forward, heading towards a series of nearby hangars. “The one on the right, that’s the Autobot’s main hangar. Got Ground Bridge control, Med Bay, offices, JCS uplink, n other stuff in there. On the left is a storage hangar n two barracks hangars, one mostly fer air frames, n the other fer us bigger mechs. Quarters fer the smaller mechs, the brig n security office n some other stuff ‘re under ground.” he said as he drove between the main hangar and the other three, passing a couple bots going about their daily routines, waving to Wheeljack as they passed. “Oh, dun go inta the hangars without invite, private quarters n offices especially. Some bots get twitchy ‘bout invasion o’ privacy.” He then drove past where most of the air craft and NEST vehicles were kept, pointing out what was where as far as ground vehicle hangars vs air craft hangars. “The central gate’s the one we use fer NEST operations, both fer bots n humans. Keeps things simple when doin’ joint missions.” he said. “South gate is just fer humans n that end o’ the base is where all yer stuff is, barracks, med bay, offices, food, whatever.”

[Wash]

Wash listened as Ironhide explained the different areas of the base, giving a nod when he mentioned bot's getting twitchy about invasion of privacy. "Fair enough." He replied. "I wouldn't want random people suddenly walking into my room." He looked out the window once they were closer to the part of the base where he would be living, looking at the different buildings as Ironhide named them.

He pulled up to the human admin building and parked himself there. Michael then got out and started pulling stuff out of the big black truck's bed and onto the hand truck Wash had brought with him. "That's where the bosses're at in there. That's where ya gotta go ta register yer here." he offered with a tilt of his head and a half smirk.

[Wash]

"Alright. Thanks a lot for the help, Ironhide." Wash replied with a grin, helping Ironhide unload his stuff from his truck bed. "I'm sure that I would've been stuck out there for a couple more hours if you hadn't noticed me." He grabbed the straps of his dufflebag and slung it over his shoulder, then took hold of the dolly's handle. "See you around base, then. It was great meeting you."
