((Autobot Brig 6 September 2027 1421 HLT)) Barricade had given up on trying to recharge the rest of the day. With how much time he was spending in recharge, his systems had started to refuse to shut down. He'd also run out of things to amuse himself with to pass the time away. That left him sitting in his cell, looking up at the ceiling, counting the number of cracks within the metal. He'd already done through the number at least five times.

Very quietly and timidly a smaller, invisible bot snuck into the brig. A few of the other Autobots had advised Arc to stay away from the brig, that dangerous prisoners were often kept there. The minibot suspected it was because they knew of Arc's ability to sense danger, that they were concerned about it being overwhelming. But the fact was Arc didn't feel any danger from the brig. The minibot knew someone was being held there, having heard talk of it around the base, but if this prisoner was so dangerous why didn't Arc feel that? As timid and well behaved as Arc was the minibot was also somewhat childlike in mentality, and a natural curiosity had gotten the better of them. They made their way to where the prisoner was held and stopped, looking at the mech for a moment. He didn't seem hostile at all, at least, not right now. Of course, it's not like it was obvious that someone else was there. There was one way to test if it would make a difference. He was in a cell, so it should be safe enough to do. With a somewhat deep and apprehensive intake the minibot allowed themself to become visible again.

The sound of the doors opening caught Barricade's attention, and he began to stand, wondering if his chonometer was off, and it was already time for Ironhide's visit. When the small minibot appeared suddenly, however, he let out a growl of annoyance and sunk back down. "Oh." He snorted. "Just a runt..."

Arc continued to look at him curiously. He didn't really seem that aggressive at all. A bit irritable, perhaps, but anyone would be if they were stuck in a cell. Their danger sense still hadn't gone off at all, though it had seemed that he had been expecting someone seeing as how he had started to get up. The minibot shifted slightly a bit awkwardly. They hadn't really thought anything out past this point so they didn't really know what to do. They weren't even really sure what it was people normally did do when it came to prisoners in the brig, or if they could even do the same themself.

Barricade let out a low growl, starting to get annoyed. "If you've just come to gawk, you're doing a fraggin' great job." He began to stand again, the tire on his right wrist beginning to twitch as he unconsciously sent the activation command to his gyro-flail, only to be met with the lockdown. "Yeah, another big, bad Decepticon behind bars. You Autobots sure know how to rub that in." He stepped up to the entrance of his cell, and stood there, all four red optics glaring at Arc.

Arc shrank back a bit from Barricade's aggression but still sensed no real threat from the Decepticon. A bit shakily they looked up and locked optics with the larger mech. "But that's just it... I'm not so sure you're really all that bad..." Their tone was timid yet sincere. It showed their own insecurity but also their confidence in that what they were saying was true. "You act aggressive but even now you don't really want to hurt me... I was told dangerous people were kept here but... if there was danger I would be able to tell. But, for the most part, I haven't felt that... Not with you here..." They shifted again, looking away sheepishly as though worried they had done something wrong. "I guess maybe that's why I came here... I was confused... and curious..."

Barricade snorted, his growl dropping to a low rumble in his chest. "I'm dangerous enough, pip-squeak." He snapped in reply. "If I wasn't, I'm sure I wouldn't be here right now." Something about the mini-bot was bothering him, but he couldn't quite place what it was.

Arc looked back to Barricade, their large green optics showing both innocence and insight. "Of course you are... Almost everyone has the potential to be dangerous. That doesn't mean they're dangerous all the time... Or that they're bad... It's all a matter of how they use that potential..." They moved slightly, part of them wanting to take a step closer but part of them still a bit intimidated. "What I don't understand... is why a person will act a way they don't want to be when they can choose to be a different way. You say that you're bad, and act like you're mean, but... It doesn't seem right for you... It doesn't seem like that's what you really want... because you don't seem to mean it... If you did... you'd feel as dangerous as you say you are..."

The rumble in Barricade's chest turned into a snarl, and his fist pounded against the cell wall in anger. "What the frag does it matter to you if I want to be 'bad' and 'mean?!' I'm here. I'm going to be here until I either escape, or Prime puts me on trial, and they decide what my punishment for being a Decepticon will be. The reasons for me joining the Decepticons or how I have acted are irrelevant!" As much as the scout tried to keep his temper in check, the mini-bot was starting to really get on his nerves, much the same way Motorhead used to, and it was beginning to drag his more violent side out.

Arc jumped back a little with a gasp as Barricade hit the wall with his fist but didn't look away. "I... I just want to understand..." they said tentatively. "You say you want to be bad and mean but... I would think you'd much rather be happy... Why would you want to be a way that makes you unhappy... You say it's what you want but... you seem really angry because of it... And lost..." Without thinking they took a step forward as they continued. "If you could be happy, why would you choose to be something else? Why would you throw that chance away?"

"You know. I think you're right." Barricade replied, his voice softening slightly. "And you know what would make me very happy? If a certain pint-sized runt would just leave me the frag alone!" His voice escalated as he spoke, until he was yelling, the snarl back in his voice. "What I do with my life is my own fraggin' business, and I don't need an Autobot telling me that it's wrong!"

Arc shrank back again, looking away for a moment but their optics found themselves drawn back to the larger mech. "But how will that make you any happier than you were before I was here? You didn't seem that happy before... when I first came here and you couldn't see me... It's not surprising that you wouldn't be happy that I'm around but... I think there might be more to it than that..." They looked away again ashamedly. "I'm not trying to say what you're doing is wrong, I just... I want to know why a person would choose to be unhappy... why they would do that to themself..."

"You want to know why?" Barricade snarled. "None of your fraggin' business! I make my choices, and I don't need anyone questioning me as to why I made them! I've made them, and I'm sticking with them until something forces me to do otherwise. That answer your questions enough for you to leave me the frag alone?!"

Arc looked down at the ground, almost like a child being scolded, and thought over what the mech had said a bit. It still didn't seem to make much sense, but who were they to judge? It's not as though Arc had done much right in their own life. Perhaps Barricade had made the right decision, maybe there was something better than happiness out there and this Decepticon had found it. "It must be nice..." the small bot said finally. "To have a choice... I never did... The things I caused, the things I do cause... I never wanted that, but... I can't stop. When I try to choose, to do better, I still just make things worse... If I could have made one choice, in the very beginning of it all... If I could go back, knowing what I know now... Knowing what I would cause... I would choose to never exist..."

Barricade blinked a couple of times at Arc's response, going quiet for a bit. Finally, he let out a huff. "Then yer damned foolish and selfish." He stated bluntly. "Bad choices happen. Live with them, and learn from them already. You can't change the past, so quit lookin' at it."
