((Early Ano-Cycles of Reunification, Cybertron)) Reunification was supposed to bring all of Cybertron together, yet Soundwave felt isolated. He had Ravage, yet the hole in his Spark remained. Without his beloved Siren, life was empty, meaningless, void. Despite burying his emotions, her absence still pained him. So he found himself wandering aimlessly across Cybertron, but invariably, unless he consciously chose a destination, he found himself back at the edge of the Sonic Canyons where he had met Siren, where they fell in love, where he lost her forever. He was there now, looking out over the Western Canyon as he stood at its Southern edge, listening to the song that echoed in its depths, the song that resonated throughout the universe. It was his only comfort now, that song, though Ravage tried to give his Master solace. He looked to the Canyon's depths then, contemplating just letting Cybertron's gravity carry him to its core, to take him home to Primus where he knew Siren was waiting for him, yet such an act was one of cowardice, something he utterly abhorred. Thus he continued to survive, to live, in spite of the emptiness in his Spark, and no matter how hard poor Ravage tried to fill that void for Soundwave, it just wasn't enough. He vented heavily then and shuttered his optics, listening quietly to the song as if waiting for Primus to take pity on him and call him home...

Tucked away in the crevasse was an alcove a short distance down from the ridge, and in that alcove were two tiny creatures. They had no way to fly or get Energon on their own and it had been some time since their progenitors had left to find food. The pair were starving, and the one with red markings was more vocal about it. He grew weary of waiting and started crying for his Alpha and Beta to come back. He and his brother were cold and hungry, and at this stage, they wouldn't survive long without their parents.

As his brother cried for their progenitors to return, the one with purple markings began doing his best to nuzzle closer for warmth, occasionally crying out with his brother. He was getting very hungry, wondering where their Alpha and Beta were, and why they had not returned for some time.

Soundwave's optics suddenly opened, hearing the mournful cries coming from somewhere below and to his right. From the sound of it, there were two of them and their cries spoke of hunger and fear and cold. Something down there needed help and they needed it now. Carefully he moved along the ridge until he could find where the calls were coming from and listened, gauging how far down they were. With nimble dexterity, he started climbing down. It took him a few minutes to get down where the alcove was, and what he found made his Spark break - two tiny Canyon Raptobots, orphaned and alone, crying futily for their progenitors to come back. They weren't more than young hatchlings by the look of them, and they would never survive on their own. That made up Soundwave's mind and he pulled himself up and partially into the alcove, just enough to give him a seat to perch on and allow him to use his hands freely.

The red and black one watched the huge bot warily, and when he started climbing into the alcove, he lifted his feeble wings and hissed angrily. This was not their Alpha, this was not their Beta, this was not even one of their own kind. What could this strange and frightening thing want with them and what did it do to his progenitors?

The black and purple one looked from the large bot, to his sibling, and back again. He was scared. What if the big thing had killed their Alpha and Beta? Was it going to eat them? Shaking, he began to try to move away from the large bot, not noticing his proximity to the edge.

Soundwave stayed still as he watched them. They were clearly afraid, not knowing what he was going to do to them, but he hoped that if he offered them Energon, then they might begin to understand that he was there to help. But before he could make such an offering, he noticed the quieter one of the pair, the black and purple one, was getting awfully close to the edge of the alcove and at great risk of falling. As young as they were, there was no way they could fly, let alone stop themselves from plummeting to their deaths. He knew they wouldn't understand his words, so he offered soft clicks instead, hoping to reassure them. But he was also ready to make a grab for the purple one if he fell.

The red one was so focused on protecting himself and his brother from this intruder that he didn't realize he was getting too close to the edge. In a fierce display of defiance, he lunged at the intruder and as he did, lost his footing and stumbled, bumping into his brother in the process.

With an undignified squawk, the black and purple one felt his brother crash into him, sending him tumbling. His feet and wings scrambled to try to get some purchase on the ledge, and failed, sending him tumbling towards the bottom of the canyon.

Soundwave lunged after the tiny avian, one hand reaching out to gently push the red one back deeper into the alcove as he dove after the purple one, reaching out to gently curl his arms around the little Raptobot. As soon as he had the bird safely against his chest, he kicked out away from the wall and activated his jets, slowing their descent and angling upwards before turning back to the alcove. Once he reached it, he let go of the little purple bird so he could go back to his brother, but he remained at the entrance, watching them quietly.

Seeing his brother fall, the red avian let out a squawk of terror that was cut short when he was pushed back farther into the alcove. The stranger had vanished as well and he was astonished to see that this strange being had gone after his brother and saved him, bringing him back to the nest. As soon as his brother was back in the alcove, he chirred excitedly and nuzzled his brother, glad he was safe.

The small avian flapped his small wings uselessly as he fell. When the large bot caught him and wrapped its arms around him, he panicked and struggled for a moment before he discovered that he was being taken back up to his brother. As soon as he was released, he scrambled to his brother's side.

Soundwave vented softly as he watched the two avians, knowing they needed him yet was uncertain if they would understand. He reached into a compartment and pulled out some Energon, gently setting it down near the pair and pulling his hand back to watch them, hoping they would accept him eventually.

Seeing the stranger reaching towards them made the red avian hiss at him, hovering protectively over his brother. He looked at the Energon, his empty tanks protesting painfully, yet he was still uncertain and not willing to trust this bot. Where were his progenitors? Why wouldn't they come back? And why was this bot here? He eyed the large mech suspiciously, then looked at the Energon, then back at him. Hunger won out over fear and with an aggressive squawk, he lunged forward and grabbed the Energon, pulling it back to his brother, devouring part of it as he glared at the mech watching them.

Following his brother's actions, the black and purple avian swiftly devoured the second part of the Energon the strange mech had placed near them. The feeling of partially-full tanks brought him some measure of comfort. Seeking more, he began to slowly and cautiously creep towards the large mech.
