Wheeljack nodded at that. "Yeah, I can see that. I know I worry about my lil ones, though they're not really so little anymore." he offered with a smile, then sighed softly. "If I don't keep myself occupied I'll worry myself into Spark failure about my lil bots until they're all here n safe." he admitted to Red Alert, standing up straight and getting ready to head out. "Let's go talk to Ironhide." he added, steadying himself for the inevitable tirade from the burly mech.

Red Alert nodded, moving to follow Wheeljack. "He's out at the shooting range. Not very surprising there." He shook his head a bit, not sure whether to chuckle or sigh. "Got any ideas as to how to begin this roller-coaster?" In truth, Red Alert was not looking forward to the upcoming conversation with Ironhide, especially considering how well their last one went, as well as the fact that he was going some time without substantial recharge. Again. Not that the lack of recharge was new to him.

Wheeljack shook his head. "Just start with the truth; I insisted on butting in because I was worried n wanted to help." he suggested. "We'll see what happens from there and go with that." he added and started out towards the shooting range. "I swear he lives at the shooting range..." he remarked with a chuckle as they walked.

"Like how I live in the security room?" Red Alert inquired with a slight chuckle, following Wheeljack. "At least he's blowing off steam there instead of somewhere else. It makes it easier to keep an optic on him when he's like this, and reassures me that he isn't about to do something stupid."

Wheeljack nodded. "Well, he's not exactly a dumb mech, he's old enough n smart enough to know what not to do n what will hurt all of us if he loses control of his temper." he remarked. "From what Ratchet's told me, Ironhide wasn't so level headed when he was younger." he offers with a chuckle. Oh the irony of that simple statement, indeed.

"I was also referring to if Ironhide decided he wanted to leave base and find a few Decepticons to tangle with." Red Alert replied. "And somehow, it doesn't surprise me that Ironhide was more rash when he was younger. I suppose, we all change as we get older. We calm some, for the most part." He gave Wheeljack a slight glance, the small smirk having returned. "And something tells me bots like you and Jazz are going to remain as energetic as Sparklings for the entirety of your life."

That made Wheeljack laugh. "You're probably right there." he replied. "For me, it helps to be Alpha for six energetic young mechlings. Well, five plus their slumbering big brother, Superion. Plus, I'm just too much of a young mech at Spark to let myself get too serious about things. For Jazz, he just can't be serious about anything, one of those perpetual Sparklings I suppose. But then you already knew that about him, close as you two are. I expect Fireflight n Air Raid'll be like that too." he told Red Alert. As they got closer to the shooting range they could hear the intermittent cannon fire. "Gee, I think we found Ironhide." he remarked jokingly.

Red Alert laughed a little. "Really? What gave it away?" He teased. Once they were out on the range, Red Alert opened up a comm to Ironhide. <"Ironhide, please put your cannons away for a moment. Wheeljack and I need to talk to you."> His frame tensed slightly, unsure of how Ironhide was going to react to just him being there. <"Maybe this wasn't such a good idea so soon..."> He commented to Wheeljack.

"Gee, I wonder." Wheeljack responded with a wink. "Everyone in the upper echelon knows you n Jazz're close, that you two're lovers. Some of us're wondering when you're gonna bond with him; we don't talk about it, but we do wonder." he added. He then looked towards the sound of cannon fire, then to Red Alert as the heavy fire stopped. "We'll see what happens. Worst he could do is put us on the business end of those cannons of his." he replied jokingly trying to keep the mood light, though the look on Red Alert's face made Wheeljack regret the joke. "Sorry..."

Red Alert shook his head. "When are bots going to believe me when I say that we're not lovers. Jazz is a close friend, very much a brother. My Spark doesn't call to him like that." He vented, shaking his helm. "And I'd rather not find myself at the business ends of his cannons. It's been quite some time since the last time, and I'd rather it never happen again."

Wheeljack held up his hands in surrender, though with a bit of a smile. "Okay, okay, I won't bring it up again." he replied and chuckled a bit. He then gave Red Alert an odd sort of look. "When did he aim his cannons at you, n what'd you do to earn that particular honor from ole grumpy fenders?" he asked, and a few moments later he heard Ironhide's heavy steps approaching them.

Ironhide strode up towards the pair, completely uninterested in their conversation and frankly not overly interested in talking to Wheeljack or Red Alert right now. But he came anyway if only to just get it over with and out of the way so they wouldn't come bugging him later. His Spark ached and it was all he could do to keep from snapping at them both, let alone not shoot them. He was in pain and irritable as it was and further aggravation would only add fuel to the inferno. But, Ironhide held his temper in check for now, mostly. "Whad'ya want." he groused shortly, looking from one to the other and back again, his arms crossed over his chest.

<"Changed his armory codes within a Cycle of my arrival. Hadn't even introduced myself to him."> Red Alert replied, watching Ironhide. "We need your help with something. It involves Barricade, and the Combat Control programing that he has. Wheeljack thinks he might be able to remove the coding, which would spare Barricade the death penalty." He tried hard not to shake. He was tired, nervous, and his glitch was threatening to begin acting up again.

Wheeljack gave him a look that basically said, "Well, there's your problem." though he didn't say anything about it outside of <"Yeah... Very not good idea, that..."> before turning his attention to the beginning conversation. He took an involuntary step back when he saw the look Ironhide gave them both at what Red Alert had said and held up his hands defensively. "I pressed for info so I could figure out what was going on. I know neural systems better than most medics, it's a specialty of mine, you know that, along with my engineering n inventions. I can help if ya let me." he offered in a soft tone so no one would overhear, then added in private coms to Ironhide and Red Alert, <"I know what Barricade means to you, from what Red told me. If I can help save your Spark mate and get rid of this Meta and the Combat Control codes, then you n him can be together. I'd rather that than see you go mad n have to be put down because Barricade was killed."> Wheeljack hoped that would help diffuse Ironhide's temper at least enough for him to listen to reason.

Ironhide uncrossed his arms as they spoke, his fists clenching so tightly his arms were shaking as he glared at them both, venting harshly. "Ya said ye'd keep it t' yerself!" he snapped loudly at Red Alert as Wheeljack flinched. His glare settled on Wheeljack then and he stepped forward, causing Wheeljack to take a half step back. "N what makes ya think I'ma trust ya rootin' 'round in 'Cade's processor?!" he added with a snarl, though his anger seemed to back down as Wheeljack added the second part over private coms. The mention of Barricade being Ironhide's Spark mate sent him rocking back slightly and Ironhide was well aware of how desperately Wheeljack had been trying to build his own family with no Spark mate at all because no bot was brave enough to get close to him. He scowled at them both for a moment. "Why ya wanna help me?" he asked suspiciously then, looking at them both.
