Rper: Catalyst Spark
Character type: Permanent
Name: Devon (Abigail) Bracken
Nicknames:Dev (Not of his choosing, he prefers his chosen first name in it’s entirety)
Sex/Gender Identity: Biological female, identifies as male, appears as male
Age: 25
Alliance: Neutral
Job: Bar Singer
Height: 6' even
Weight: 150 Lbs
Personality: Devon seems to look at the world from a different view, on one hand he wants to take part in the world, go out, have fun, maybe goof off a bit, but on the other hand he keeps feeling he needs to keep his distance, he knows how badly some react to people like him and wants to avoid anyone totally freaking out if they find out that he wasn’t born in a male body. Devon tends to be a pretty easy going, polite and fun loving guy, he’ll try to brighten someone’s day if he sees them depressed and has a soft spot for kids, in truth he’s a bit of a big kid himself sometimes.
He’s easy to approach and can be decently talkative, at least if he doesn’t think he’s annoying you. However he does have a serious side to him and can be very protective and focused when he needs to be, though that still won’t stop him from cracking a few jokes or goofing off when he can get away with it. Devon doesn’t get mad easily, he’s pretty good at keeping his temper, but when you do finally push his buttons, he lets you know in no uncertain terms, normally via a fist being introduced to a face. Though when you get to know him, he’s actually a pretty lively guy who’s only desire is to get the most out of life.
Appearance: Devon’s features are softer than that of most men, and for good reason, he was born female and is still in very early stages of transitioning to male. His frame holds a somewhat feminine shape due to this, his hair always kept short and in a masculine, though stylish, cut. He favors more rocker style clothing and hair, also favoring jackets to hide his feminine shape and detract from the shape of his chest, which is bound to avoid the breasts from being too noticeable.
Preferred Vehicle: His Skateboard
Preferred Weapons: Guns
Abilities: N/A
Strengths: Devon is pretty agile, this is due to his female body giving him a bit more flexibility than one would expect from most males. He also has the advantage of being able to get into places most guys can’t due to his slender structure. He has a very natural skill in improvising, the patch up may look shabby, it may be done with what’s laying around, but chances are it’ll work. Devon is very physically active, he has taken martial arts and even messed around with some rather odd forms of dancing and fighting, all for the fun of it. This helps him keep in shape and keep his endurance up. Also, watch out if he gets a hold of a skateboard, he can get a little silly and likes pulling little tricks, it’s all in good fun.
Weaknesses: He is only human after all. One of his main weaknesses, however, is his insercurity. He often dreads people finding out that he was born as a girl because so many freak out about those who are transgendered and he would really rather not become another statistic. His self image can also suffer at times, especially when he's mistaken for a female.
Family: Both parents and Brother still living
History: Devon grew up as Abigail Bracken, his parents raised him as a girl due to his physical body but even from a young age he fought them on this wanting nothing to do with the dolls, dresses and the like they gave him and often hijacking his brother’s toys to play or borrowing his brother’s clothing to get away from the dresses. His parents thought he was just being rebellious and difficult, however they were shocked when he decided to cut his hair and begin going by Devon at the age of 15. His family rejected him due to his transgenderedness, trying to force him to act like a girl until he was 18 and moved out.
After he was free from his parent’s trying to force him into a role he didn’t fit, he still had to find a way to juggle his senor year and still make enough money to survive, he got lucky and managed a job at a club in Jasper, Nevada. At first he was just a bartender but he managed to talk the owner into putting him in front of a mic for live entertainment singing covers to songs, the patrons ate it up and he‘s been doing the same since. This allowed him not only to finally have a stable place to live but also to begin transitioning properly, though slowly as he still needed to save up for the surgeries needed to fully make his body match his mind.
At around 24 he finally got on hormone replacement therapy though he had still not yet managed to save enough for top surgery, so he continues to bind down his breast, feeling ashamed and uncomfortable even having them. He has legally changed his name at this point to Devon Bracken, his family has full out rejected him but he tries not to let that get to him, after all, he still has his whole life ahead of him, maybe one day they’ll come around.
