Wheeljack could only smile at Devon's words as he hugged the mech's steering wheel. Once Devon sat back, he headed back into the parking garage to try and search for the lost brace that slipped off his new friend. "Hey, it's alright. My kind don't even have what you would call a gender, at least not physically. What we look like on the outside is shaped by our personalities, but we're all the same inside. My real name is Wheeljack, but Jack works just as well. Members of my race are called Autobots, like your kind is called human, though there's a hostile faction who calls themselves Decepticons. That chopper there, he's one of em, his name's Vortex. We came from a world far from here called Cybertron and like all creatures from Earth are called Earthlings, all beings from Cybertron are called Cybertronians." he explained, figuring that since the secret was up on both sides, he may as well explain himself to Devon. "We're sentient living beings just like you, we're just a different kind is all." he added, feeling a little better at least, now that they were away from Vortex and likely getting close to where Devon's brace might be. "I found it kind of strange at first, when I encountered your species, that you have completely separate physical genders. I got curious so I researched it extensively and discovered some are not always born the way they're supposed to be, as they explain it 'being born in the wrong body' it seems. Honestly, I feel bad for people like you having to go through so much torture and pain just to be who you're supposed to be and others either just don't understand or turn hostile for no reason. We don't have any sort of gender bias, so all this that your race goes through seems very strange to us." he admitted casually. "But that doesn't make you any less of a sentient being just because you happen to be a bit different than us Bots." he added, a smile in his voice.

Devon listened, this one did like to explain things it seemed, he nodded afterwards "I had heard the rumors, I never expected to actually meet any of you though, much less have to use me skills at improvising to help stop one, a Cybertronian as you said, from wrecking the street, though you probably could have taken care of him yourself, at least it seemed, just wanted to make things go a bit faster, it seemed to have worked. Amazing how useful cables, a tire iron, gorilla glue and water balloons can be." Devon said with a bit of a chuckle. He then sighed as he moved to the next topic, his situation "Yea, some of us are unlucky, those of us without a lot of money in this situation are even worse off, most places have a bias against hiring us to begin with, I was lucky that my boss is cool, his niece was born as a nephew so he gets it. I know a lot of others aren't so open minded, it can be a bit scary. But now you see what I meant about the sort of care I need being specialized? Still saving up to at least get these. . .things off my chest." he said with a sigh before shaking his head a bit "Sorry, a lot don't get it, then again, a lot shout freak and demean you when they find out. You can understand my relief at you not reacting that way, I'm pretty sure of. Hell, you're probably use to people seeing you're real self and running for the hills screaming." he said before looking around the parking structure as they drove through, looking for any sign of his binder "It's a light gray thing, would look like just a wide rectangle of fabric since it fell off. It's actually called a binder, but brace works around others so they don't know what's being talked about." he said looking around for it, those things costed a bit, not losing one would be pretty nice.

He chucked a bit. "You're pretty good at improvising when ya need to." He then nodded inwardly as he helped scan for the binder, making sure not to move too quickly through the parking structure, hoping to find it quickly for Devon's sake. He was thoughtful for a while as they searched, then he finally spoke up as they neared the level where Devon had gone up to so he could throw his makeshift weapon at Vortex. "You know, I just might be able to help with that. If you'll give me a week or so, I'll talk to some medics I know and see what we can do for ya if you want." he offered, hoping he could at least help Devon with part of his dilemma, and hopefully help the guy feel more comfortable in his own body finally, likely for the first time in his life. He knew Ratchet was the best medic on Cybertron, and with his knowledge base growing with regard to the twenty years he had been on Earth, his innate curiosity and fascination with life and living things would likely have Ratchet learning everything about human biology and medicine he could possibly learn. If not Ratchet, there were human medics, as well as Jolt and Wheeljack himself, though Wheeljack would go to Ratchet first and himself last.

Devon chuckled a bit there "You should see what's holding my favorite chair together at home, now that's improvising." he said with a small chuckle. He remembered that, the poor chair was still being held together by rope, duct tape and good luck but it hadn't failed yet so he figured he was doing pretty well. "It falls more under plastic surgery then anything else, odd I know, but that's how it's classified. If they could help that would be great but, you can understand I would want to be sure I was in good hands, talk to them a few times, get to know their skills and the like. Plus there's still the cost to consider." he said with a small sigh before he spotted what looked like his binder "I think that's it right there!" he said pointing at where it was, right near where he threw the cablepus from the structure.

Wheeljack nodded inwardly, then veered over to where Devon had spotted his binder, turning and stopping so all Devon had to do was open the door and reach down to grab it. "Well, glad we could find it for ya." he said cheerfully. "As for the medic I know, ya won't have to worry about cost, he doesn't work for human money. His name's Ratchet, Autobot Chief Medical Officer who's been studying human anatomy and medicine for the last twenty years. He gets curious about new species and is always looking to help where he can, just how the old mech is really. He's the best there is, puts me back together when one of my inventions decides it doesn't like me." he offered with a bit of a chuckle. "He fixes us up all the time when we get into some pretty heavy scrapes, and he's been using his holoform to help the human medics too. Just the way he is. He's got an assistant to, name's Jolt. Bit of a doof at times, but he's a good bot. Oh, and in case you're wondering, a holoform is that human figure I was using earlier. It helps make interacting with your species easier sometimes. Better than then freaking out and calling me a giant monster." he sighed a bit. "I wish humans could be more accepting of us sometimes instead of hating us because of a few who're trying to murder the universe..." he muttered mostly to himself, the pain of losing Debi nearly eleven years ago then again almost three years later when he found out she had been killed still felt like an ache in his Spark that wouldn't go away. He had never been able to bond with her, but he still loved her even though she would never accept his true self.

Devon opened up the driver's door, bending down to grab the binder, it was a bit too dirty to put back on at this point so he just rolled it up, placing it in his lap for the time, though kept pulling his jacket closed to try to hide his chest. "Well, it, honestly 'Jack, it would be great to finally be free of these. . .things. I feel like a prisoner in my own body, a constant reminder of the fact I wasn't born right, that nature has a cruel sense of humor and I ended up the butt of a joke for it. I, I wouldn't mind talking to him, seeing if he would be willing to help me, I'm more worried about the top half than the bottom right now since, well, the top is what everyone sees and, honestly, binders, they aren't the most comfortable things in the world, they add pressure to the whole chest, can make breathing a little hard sometimes." he said, relaxing back in the seat a bit once more., looking towards the dash "I guess we both have the same issue with people at times then, you for being a huge robotic person, me for being a guy with tits, a different type of issue, but the same results, you find some who accept, some who don't." he said with a sigh, looking out from the window. "Murder the universe? You mean like the then chopper, now paper weight one out there?"

Wheeljack turned and headed down to the lower levels once the binder was safe in Devon's grasp again, heading out and away from the parking garage to take Devon to his hotel. "Sure, I can find out when he'll be open to seein' ya n take ya to him. He's a good bot, n he'll help ya at least feel more comfortable so you can breathe without that thing constricting your frame unnaturally like that." he offered, then nodded inwardly. "Yeah, heh. We made a pretty good team bringin' down ole chopper face, didn't we?" he replied with a chuckle. "Yeah, Vortex is one of a group called Combatacons; five that combine into one big ugly thing called Bruticus. If the Decepticons managed to get all of that bunch on Earth, we're in for a world of hurtin', I think." he said with a sigh, then opened secure coms to the base. <"Guys, I just had a run in with Vortex, it's a good bet the rest of his pals are here too, though I haven't seen em yet n ole 'Texy is currently an over sized paperweight sitting next to a parking garage. Coordinates incoming, though I don't know how long he'll stay all tangled up like he is now. I've got a civilian with me, trying to get him home n taken care of right now, then I'll head back to base."> he offered, not sure who would reply, let alone if any would go to deal with the thopter con. For now, Vortex was out of commission and Wheeljack had a new friend to look after right now, so he would just let the other Autobots deal with the Decepticon.

Devon chuckled a bit "Yea we did, hey, I might be small, but I've been rigging makeshift things so long. . .It's nice to actually be able to help someone out with on of my random little ideas." he said smiling a bit. Sitting here in a car that became a robot, having the most casual type of conversation was, admittedly, something he had not expected to occur today, though, the good news was that he and Wheeljack seemed to get along a bit, so that was certainly a plus. "You know, if you plan to keep contact with me, well, after this week I'm not going to be in DC, I actually live in Nevada. Actually, I could just give you my number come to think of it." he said reaching into his pocket and pulling out his phone, though he looked at it, opening it for it to not respond "Well shit, the fountain claimed two victims today." he said sighing, moving to pull the battery out so, hopefully, the phone would be able to dry out and not be unuseable in the future, if he was lucky, but luck didn't seem to often be on his side.

Wheeljack chucked softly. "And two electronics for me to resuscitate for ya. I'll have a go at both of them n see if I can get them working again for you so you won't have to replace them while you're getting cleaned up and dried off, okay?" he offered cheerfully as they finally pulled up to the hotel and parked, his holoform activating and looking like he was climbing out of the passenger seat as both doors opened. "C'mon, I'll head up with ya." Jack said and stepped around to the front of his alt mode after closing the passenger door.

Devon chuckled a bit himself, shaking his head at his luck "Electronics are great to have around, but I kill them too much." he said, getting out once the door opened, holding his jacket closed and pulling out his skateboard to bring it up. He nodded to Jack then "Alright. Man, I owe you, I owe you big time. I did NOT expect this day to go like this." he said beginning to head up to his room "It's been an odd mix of good, bad and down right cool today, but still surprising." he said, obviously still a little stoked due to the occurrences earlier and the fact he had just met an Autobot and helped take down one of the bad guys, those were not the types of things you hear of an average guy doing.

Jack chuckled and draped an arm around Devon's shoulders lightly. "Hey, just goes to show, ya never know what kinds of cool things you find, or people you meet, when ya wake up in the mornin'." he offered and followed the young man up. "Besides, I'm the kind of guy who likes helpin' people out when I can, n you looked like you could really use a genuine kindness. Just how I am." he added with a smile. He hoped that his own optimistic demeanor kept the mood in an upswing for his new friend as they headed up to Devon's room.

"Isn't that the truth, but hey, that's why you have to keep pushing forward." Devon said with a smile, when they got to his room he swiped the key card and opened it up, holding the door open for Jack "Give me a moment, I, umm, need to handle the. . .escapees." he said before going to vanish into the bathroom to get his binder back on. His hotel room looked like a tornado had gone through, more or less exactly what you would expect of a room a 20-something year old guy was occupying, though there were a few odd little things around, mostly little tinker things he pulled out of his luggage the night before that were scattered across the table, including one odd looking little balancing contraption, stacked up and, somehow, it hadn't fallen yet. Soon Devon came back out of the bathroom with a fresh change of clothes consisting of a blue t-shirt and black baggy slacks, he tossed the still damp clothes in the corner and moved to flop down on the room's sofa "OK, that feels a lot better, I think the wet stuff weighed about ten pounds on it's own!"

Jack nodded and stepped in, offering an understanding smile as Devon disappeared into the bathroom to get changed. He looked around the room then, noting the odd little trinkets on the table, smiling at the precariously balanced object. He didn't touch it though, not wanting to knock it over. When Devon came out again, Jack turned and offered a bit of a chuckle at his comment. "Hazards of being human I suppose. For us it's a bit different. We have our chassis, the armor, stuff like that. But it's all part of us. Sure we can take the armor off if we really wanted to, but that would leave us exposed and unprotected. Our holoforms're the same way really. There's the base nanoform, which looks like us without armor, then the rest is basically a light and force field projection over top." He shrugged then, and without really thinking about it or the consequences of doing so, he let his holoform flicker and vanish, leaving the armorless nanoform underneath. The robotic face smiled sheepishly at Devon then, his arms reflexively covering his abdominal and pelvic section. "Sorry, I get a bit carried away sometimes." he muttered and turned away somewhat, lowering his head a bit bashfully as the holoform flickered and reappeared, his human face blushing slightly at having just been essentially naked in front of a human he had just met, though the acceptance Devon offered him had made him feel comfortable enough he forgot himself for a moment.

Devon chuckled a bit at Wheeljack's little oops before shrugging "Seeing how, well, we have different bodies and all of that, I didn't really think much of it." he said once Wheeljack's holoform got his skin back in place. "That is cool though, how you can remove the, umm, skin, so easy. Must be nice for you guys, your form always matching who you are and all." he said, ok, admittedly he was a little jealous, he wished he could just reconfigure a part of himself and match how he's supposed to be, it would make his life a lot easier, but, well, he had to play the hand he was dealt. He shifted on the sofa, getting comfy so he was mostly sitting up, even if he was still somewhat reclined, he pulled his MP3 player and cell phone from his fresh clothes' pocket, looking them over. "You think they'll be salvagable, I mean, I wasn't in the fountain long, didn't want to be in there at all but, well, I'm about as lucky as a male praying mantis so, yea."

Jack looked over at Devon and nodded. "Yeah, I suppose so. I mean, we are what we are, who we are, n we can't really be anything else. If we try to change to be something else it just feels wrong. Kind of like how you feel with the form you're trapped in now I would imagine." he replied. He then looked at the electronics that needed some TLC after ending up immersed in water. "I can certainly see what I can do with them." he offered and stepped over, extending a hand to take them so he could look at them more closely.
