((Midnight, August 9th, 2027))
Wavelength had been away from the base most of the week, he had told the other Decepticons he had merely been scouting though there was another reason to his disappearance. For now he was on his way to the labs where a captured techno-organic girl had been being held for quite some time. The yong mech had something in mind, a surprise if one wished to say for the girl, Alex.
Wavelength's currently dark green form vanished from view as he walked down the hall and towards the room, thankfully him vanishing from view was nothing out of the ordinary for him, he often was never seen around base even though he was standing right in front of someone. He made his way into the lab where Alex was, being quiet as to not draw attention to himself yet. He looked at where the young girl was, watching her for a moment as she sat, the smallest smile came across his lips though behind his lower face mask, though it was not as if he could be seen anyways. He turned, pressing in a code for the door to close and lock it behind him before causing an illusion using his light tricks in front of the camera so it would look as if Alex was alone, simply sitting. It was the best way to not draw unneeded attention.
"You should be careful, Alex. Another could walk in at any time." Wavelength said, allowing his natural, soft and kind voice to be heard, there was no need to modulate it around Alex, she was about the only one he could be himself around. He remained out of view, the light remaining bent around his form to make it seem as if no one was there. He did not move, giving no sound for her to be able to tell exactly where he was standing. "I have a surprise for you, if you can find me." he said playfully.

Alex had been facing away from the cameras fixed on her, playing with a bit of electricity between her hands to practice her somewhat new ability without the Decepticons knowing she had developed it. She heard the door to the lab open and close, stopping the electricity going between her hands but not having much reaction besides that. It's not like it was uncommon for people to enter the lab, and she generally knew what to expect from it. Besides, the one person around who she ever wanted to see had told her he'd be gone for a while. But when she heard the voice she perked up and turned to look towards the door, even though she was half expecting not to see anyone there.
"You're back!" she exclaimed, jumping to her feet. As she expected there was no one to actually see there but she knew he was there for sure. Now the trick was finding him. She'd learned that normal tricks for finding those who were invisible, such as smoke and the like, didn't work with him, he could simply alter the illusion. He had given her something she could use though, it may take a bit of thinking and it was unlikely she'd be able to pinpoint the location but it was a start. All she had to do was go towards where his voice had come from. If he moved, she'd hear it, so he couldn't move from where he had spoken from without alerting her to exactly where he was. After all, 18 feet worth of metal did not normally make the most discrete of sounds.
She moved towards where his voice had come from carefully, holding her arms out and moving them a bit to search for anything she would be unable to see. "Let's see... you should be somewhere around here..." It wasn't long before her fingertips brushed against something. She moved towards what she felt, placing her hand flat against it and smiling at the sensation, the way her fingertips tingled at coming in contact with something so conductive, definitely metal. She swung around, embracing what she knew to be the leg of her best friend. "I found you!"

Wavelength laughed a little at that "Yes, yes you have." he said, letting the light around his frame return to it's natural flow thus allowing her to see him, though he kept up the illusion directed to the camera, to anyone looking at the feed it'd look as if she was merely sitting there alone still. Wavelength looked down where his leg was getting hugged, his lower face mask retracting so she could see his face fully. "You're getting better at finding me." he said as he moved, very carefully, to sit on the floor, leaving the leg she was hugging right where it was an maneuvering to sit without moving it. Once he sat, he held out a hand to her, opening it to show what he had brought to her.
"I figured you were finished reading the last books I brought you, so I got a few more and. . ." he said, bringing his other hand to grab something out from a small compartment in his armor holding it out to her "I know you've been practicing, I thought that, well, maybe having a source for the electricity would help you learn to work with it better without taking so much out of you. You know, sort of a. . .more to work with thing." he said placing what looked to be a hand held stun gun in his other hand next to the books he had brought her. The subjects varied, some were informational, some were fantasy for when she wanted lighter reading, along with a manga called Chobits, which he thought looked cute and like something young teen girls would like due to him being totally oblivious to the humans 'maturity rating' system, and a few craft magazines. He figured a variety never hurt and with how smart this girl was, he expected she'd go through them pretty fast.
"So, how have things been since I've been gone? I know I didn't check in like normally this time but, well, I had a little trouble keeping up with everything this time." he told her, though, in truth he hadn't checked up on her because, when he wasn't scouting to keep up appearances, he had been doing a few odd jobs to help out humans and get money to be able to properly buy the books and stun gun for her.

Alex looked over at the pile of books and the stun gun with a smile, letting go of his leg so he would be free to move it if he wanted without risk of harming her. It was nice to have new reading material, however she was starting to run out of places to hide it all. She liked having it on hand so she could re-read it at whim, especially the informative books to make sure she remembered most of the information. It might take some work and some rearranging but she was sure she could find someplace to stash the new additions to her collection. As for the stun gun, she may be able to keep that on herself most of the time and it was small enough to stash in a number of places when she couldn't. "Thanks, I'm sure I'll use that. I haven't really messed with electricity from other sources since, well, it would be kinda obvious if I did..." She was not about to risk the Decepticons learning of her abilities. The way she saw it, if the Decepticons figured she was defective and had no abilities aside from her involuntary glowing when she got too nervous or scared then there was a chance they'd stop the experiments and let her go. A slim chance, perhaps, but it was still a chance.
She looked down a bit, recalling the time he had been gone. "It's pretty much been lots of tests and experiments like usual..." she said with a bit of a sigh. "There was one that knocked me out for a while. Not sure how long though... How long were you gone anyway?" She figured if she had a reference for how much time had passed she may be able to figure out roughly how long she had been knocked out. Granted the passage of time got a bit skewed when unconscious but her sense of the passage of time was skewed to begin with. She never saw the outdoors and did not know night from day, there was no clock to tell her what time it was, the only way she kept track of time was from Wavelength telling her. She did, however, have a grasp on how long she normally slept and how she felt after she woke up from her normal amount of sleep. She could tell she had been out for substantially longer and that it wasn't a natural sleep that time. She was curious just how long she had been out for.

Wavelength gave a small nod "That's why I figured the stun gun would be useful, you can practice without any drain on the base's power supply, and I can hide you like I normally do." he said smiling, though the smile faded from his face when he heard she had been knocked out from an experiment "I've been gone for about a week, 6 days to be more exact. . ." he said before placing the books and the like down and scooting back a bit and going into his alt mode, his holoform activating in front of the small jet he disguised himself as. He walked up to her, placing a hand on her shoulder "Knocked out? What did they do? You're alright now I hope?" he asked her, moving to try to wrap his arm around her protectively. He hated how they experimented on her, she was a smart, good natured girl, but to the other Decepticons she was just an object, it was enough to test even Wavelength's temper with how lowly they regarded her.
But what could he do? If they knew he had such a soft spot for Alex it would be used against him, any show of kindness or compassion could easily be turned against him, it was a wonder he had gone this long without them realizing he really couldn't care less about the Decepticon cause and, if given the chance, would make them all incapable of fighting! He had to keep up appearances, but normally he'd come see her after the experiments, making sure she was alright, he hated when he had to go scouting or whatever they needed of him that kept him from being there for the girl. His holoform sighed then, wishing he could do more than just comfort her afterwards, wishing he could stop these experiments and thus, stop her pain. "If only. . ." he breathed out, shaking his head slightly, he had not realized that the simple arm across her shoulders had become more akin to a protective hug but it had. "Sorry I wasn't there for you afterwards Alex." he told her, looking down at the young girl.

"Six days huh?" She thought for a moment, considering everything she could think back to considering the passage of time while he was gone, any activities and how long she normally spent on them, any reference to how long they'd been performing an experiment or how long she'd had to recover from one. "I think I may have been out for about a day in that case..." she mumbled, mostly to herself.
She looked up at the holoform as he put his arm around her shoulder. "I seem to be fine now, there haven't been any lasting effects that I've noticed. I'm not really sure what they did to me thought. They hooked me up to something and a few seconds later everything went black... I'm not sure it was even supposed to knock me out, it didn't have the same effect as any of the sedation methods I've been subjected to so far. Knockout was there when I came to, he checked to make sure I was okay and everything." She leaned into the hug, putting her arms around him a bit. It was a relief to have the comfort after so long. "It's ok, I understand you had to be somewhere else. At least your back now. Are you going to be here for a while this time?"

Wavelength nodded at her question "I plan to, unless they ship me off to do something else that serves no real point, here's to hoping they don't do so any time soon." he said. He still felt horrid about having not been there before, but he didn't let it show this time. He needed to be strong for her, she needed someone there who could be that strength she needed, if she knew how much it tore him up each time, well, he feared it'd cause her to feel guilty and that was something he did not want. He was slightly relieved to find out Knockout had been the one there when she woke up, at least he made sure she was alright and was gentle with her, unlike the others who would oversee the experiments.
"I'm just glad you're alright, you know I worry." he said, forcing a small smile. He moved to bend down a bit, kissing the top of her head before standing once more, looking to her "So, I saw you were practicing a bit, have you learned anything new you can do?" he asked, smiling a little more. He hoped she'd be able to keep herself safe, if ever something did happen to him and he wasn't there to look after her, well, he wanted to be sure she could defend herself. Though he hoped to find a way to get her free of this situation long before such a thing was needed, but he needed to make the right connections first.

She hugged him a little tighter for a moment. "I hope so... I miss you when you're gone..." she said softly. She then smiled slightly. "Well at least it gave you a good opportunity to go get me some books and stuff without raising too much suspicion, right?" she pointed out. She wouldn't want him to get caught doing anything to help her out too much and get in trouble for it. She knew how important it was to be discrete around Decepticons. If the wrong person found something out you could be in way more trouble than you might be able to handle, she'd seen it happen to some Decepticons before and heard about it happening to others. The last thing she wanted was for Wavelength's name to end up in one of those stories.
The young girl smiled a bit as she felt the kiss on her head. "I haven't been able to try anything too extravagant lately. In fact, with the cameras around I haven't been able to practice the liquification at all, I've mostly just been working with small bits of electricity." she answered. She stepped away from the holoform to avoid possibly hurting him and formed some electricity and sparks around her left hand then held her right hand over it and drew some up into it, moving the right hand to form an arch of electricity across the front of her as it transferred from one hand to the other then carefully transferred the electricity back to her left hand behind her back. "I think I'm getting better though."

"Yes, there is that, wish I could take you out there with me, I still want to bring you out flying one day." he said with a smile. One day, it would take time, work and some sneakiness on his part, but one day, somehow, he'd keep that promise, that was if the Decepticon's experiments didn't kill her first, but even being the pacifist he was, if it came down to that, he would fight to get her out if he had to. He pushed the more negative thoughts from his processor then, watching her transfer the electricity between her hands, a smile coming onto his face.
"It looks like you're getting better. If you want to practice a bit, well, I am not going anyplace else today and there didn't seem to be too many awake in the base right now, so it's safe if you want to try and see what all you can do." he said, smiling to her. He did however shift the illusion he was giving that camera to look as if Alex laid down to rest, just so her looking like she's staying completely still didn't make anyone wonder.

"I really hope you can one day... I've been locked up in here for so long I think if not for the books you've brought be I might have forgotten what it looks like outside..." the girl said. She was trying a bit to cheer him up a bit, even though he was smiling she got the sense that there was a sadness there. After all, she did the same thing sometimes. She thought that maybe pointing out how much he'd been helping her might do the trick, at least she hoped it would.
Alex smiled at the idea of being able to practice more freely for a while. "Well I have had a sort of theory I've been wanting to test out. See, I figure if I can transfer the electricity from one hand to the other maybe I can also transfer it back in another direction and make a circle of electricity around myself." She stepped back a bit more. This was, after all, just a theory. She wasn't sure if it would even work and she was less sure of what would happen if it didn't. She formed a small bit of electricity in each hand and took a deep breath before giving it a try. It wasn't long before there were two thin strands of electricity wrapping around her from one hand to the other, one chaotically arching around the front and the other around the back. She smiled broadly, feeling the constant flow of electricity between her hands. "It's working!" she exclaimed. She put more electricity into the transfer, making the current stronger and more impressive but forgetting one thing, she was not accustomed to working with that much electricity at once and there were a good number of things in the lab that were likely to attract it. Soon the electricity started branching off in all directions and with a yelp of surprise she cut off the flow completely, hoping she hadn't done too much damage.

"I'll find a way, soon, I promise. I'll find a way to get you out of here." he told her, smiling a bit before watching her with the electricity. His smile broadened a bit, she was getting better it seemed, if she could keep the electrical energy flowing around her then maybe, just maybe, she could use it as a sort of shield to keep others from grabbing her. However, when the electricity started branching off, well, he sort of wasn't expecting one of the bolts to branch off right at the nose of his alt mode, causing the small, currently dark green, jet to twitch a bit. "Careful Alex, You sort of got my nose there." he said with a small chuckle, not annoyed or upset about it, he was sort of use to such things happening, after all, she was only just learning, little mishaps would happen. "Don't try to use too much at once, start with the amount you can comfortable control and step it up slowly and gradually." he said, walking up to her once she had cut the flow of energy, placing a hand on her shoulder "But the good news is, it was working before more energy was added, it's a starting point." he said, trying to be a bit reassuring, it was progress, and the idea did seem to have some uses in keeping her safe, it'd just take practice.

"Sorry! I didn't hurt you at all did I?" Alex asked timidly. She looked down a bit with a sigh. "I thought I'd be able to control it all but I guess I was wrong..." She looked around a bit at the damage, it seemed some of the more sensitive equipment in the lab had been struck, and based on what she could see of external damage it was not likely they would function quite right anymore. "And I broke more stuff, great, it's not like that won't raise any suspicions..." The girl sat down on the ground, hugging her knees to her chest and resting her chin on top. "Sometimes I think it would be better if I really was defective. You wouldn't have to hide me so I could practice any abilities, I wouldn't keep breaking stuff, heck, maybe the Decepticons would actually let me go. I know they haven't yet but the whole stuff randomly breaking around me thing probably isn't helping convince them..."

Wvelength's holoform shook it's head a bit "I'm fine, I'm sort of use to getting shocked now, really, it's fine, just feels a little funny when it happens." he said, leaning down to be at eye level with her, a small, yet sly smirk on his lips "And don't worry about them wondering where the damage came from, I already have an illusion set up to explain it, put the blame on Vortex this time, trust me, I have this covered." he said, winking at her. He was sort of use to having to cover for the broken things, often he'd make it look like another Decepticon, normally one he disliked, had wondered in after high grade and ran into stuff or done something before deciding to wonder out, it was Vortex's turn to get blamed this time, but so long as it kept Alex in the clear, that was what he cared about. "With some time, and some practice, you'll be able to, you've already come so far. I know what it's like to learn how to control what you can do, I didn't always have the control over light that I do now, and trust me, I made plenty of mistakes, and I'm still learning a bit myself." he said, smiling, a hand coming up to sweep a strand of hair out of Alex's face "You'll get it, don't worry, it just takes time and practice, and I don't mind hiding you for you to practice."

Alex looked up at him and smiled slightly. "Thanks..." she said softly. "Are you sure it's not too much trouble covering for me like this so much?" She had a feeling she already knew what his answer would be. She stood up again, looking up at him. "It's too bad the ability I need more practice with can be more destructive... But at least I didn't hurt you. Then again if it doesn't hurt you I'm not so sure how useful it would really be if I have to use it against someone..." She shrugged a bit with a slight smirk. "Well at least I'll be hard to catch to begin with, right?

"I'm sure Alex, I watch out for you because I want to, it's never a burden or anything." he said with a smile before shaking his head a bit "Well you are still learning, it may get stronger in time. Even if it doesn't your ability to liquify is certainly a useful thing, lets you get anyplace and everyplace pretty easy. Don't underestimate stealth, it can be more useful than most think." he told her, the reassuring smile on his face turning a little more playful "Plus if you don't start cheering up soon, you know I'm going to had to do?" he said, grinning playfully a bit at that. A tickle fight would likely get her laughing which, all in all, may be what she needed right now.
