Rper: Imaginary
Character type: Permanent Character
Name: Swindle
Nicknames: Stumpy (though he doesn't like it and only Vortex calls him that)
Gender Identity: Mech
Approx age: Around since before the great war
Alliance: Decepticon
Function/Job: Arms Dealer/Weapons Specialist and Combaticon
Height: 20 ft
Approx mass: 4.5 tons
Pretender?: No
Personality: Swindle is clever, cunning, and greedy. He’s an arms dealer and a bit of a con man so he’s pretty good at manipulation and trickery. He likes to be in control of any situation and generally does a good job of achieving that. He can have a tendency to be very calculating and plan things out ahead of time, taking precautions to ensure his plans won’t go wrong. He often comes across as being very levelheaded but can develop something of a temper when things don’t go his way. If double crossed he will get furious and sometimes throw caution to the wind as he attempts to get payback.
He gets along very well with his gestalt mate Vortex, having a brother-like relationship with him. Though that’s not to say they don’t fight from time to time, however they try to avoid doing any serious damage to each other and tend to make up quickly. Having worked together for a long time they know how each other tend to operate and play to each other’s strengths a bit. While he dislikes being separated from the other members of his gestalt aside from Vortex he doesn’t show it much, though having Vortex around is undoubtedly a comfort. Should something serious happen to Vortex he will become furious and, if unable to exact his revenge right away, is prone to becoming vengeful.
Swindle also does not take well to being teased, which is the cause of most of the fights between him and Vortex. The only reason he allows Vortex to call him “Stumpy” is because he’s come to accept the fact that nothing would ever stop him from doing so. If teased enough he is prone to losing his temper though will rarely go to extremes over it and tends to get over it rather quickly.
Appearance:
Alt mode:
Holoform:
Weapons:Most of his concealed weaponry changes often in accordance to what new weapons he acquires and what weapons he sells, though among the few consistent ones are a smaller cannon that can flip out from his chest, laser guns that can come up over his shoulders, and a force field generator that can generate a protective force field for a short amount of time before needing to recharge.
Abilities: Epically massive subspace storage.
Strengths: While obviously built for brute force his smaller size does give him a bit more speed and swiftness than the other Combaticons and allows him to take cover more easily. He also keeps a lot of various weaponry equipped, though most of it concealed. Being a Combaticon he is highly trained in combat and can usually hold his own against multiple enemies on the battlefield for quite a while. His cleverness and skill for manipulation also comes into play often as he will use it to trick his enemies into putting themselves in a bad position or even talk his way out of trouble on the rare occasions he gets himself in too deep.
Weaknesses: Being a weapons expert he has a tendency to rely on them and is thus not very skilled in hand-to-hand combat. His small size does not assist him here and when faced with a hand-to-hand combat situation he is likely to retreat or at the least attempt to. The exception to this is if Vortex (or any of his gestalt mates for that matter) is in critical condition at which point he will fight to protect him until he can fight no longer. This protectiveness of his gestalt mates can sometimes be used against him. His temper can also be a downfall as his judgment is not as good when he is angry.
Family: Gestalt mates Vortex, Onslaught, Brawl, and Blastoff.
History: While Swindle isn’t exactly one of the smallest mechs to exist he was always aware that a good number of Cybertronians had him outsized. Fortunately Swindle was also very clever. Knowing that he’d need to find himself some means of defense and survival he searched for something he was skilled at that could provide him with just that. At a rather young age Swindle discovered a love for money, though this attraction was not to the money itself but more to the sense of power and control he got from acquiring and keeping it. He came to see money as being the true power in the world. Putting his cleverness and cunning as well as his interest and knowledge of weaponry and the latest technologies to use he worked his way into the arms dealing business where he became quite highly regarded because while his prices were often quite steep he was able to convince people they were more than reasonable and always provided products with a certain level of quality.
When the Great War started things couldn’t have been better for the arms dealing business and it was no secret that the Decepticons were buying more than the Autobots. While staying neutral may have had it’s benefits Swindle saw much more potential for business opportunity if he swore loyalty to the Decepticons and wasted little time in doing so. Not long after doing so he became business partners with Zero who ran supply routes, as the weaponry that was purchased from him was part of the supplies Zero was transporting, and accompanied her on her routes as security. While Swindle always maintained a certain level of professionalism the amount of time he spent with Zero did not go without effect and she came to be the first real friend he ever had. Not much later another mech was assigned to join Swindle and Zero on their supply routes as added security and the three of them became close friends. One day they left early for their routes to avoid predictability as an added precaution, which turned out to be a mistake. After they had left a message came in to the base they’d left from for them not to run that day’s route because, as Swindle would come to learn later, the squadron they were delivering to had been selected as a “bait team” (a squadron sent to lure enemy forces away from the real tactical move and often sacrificed in the process, the squadron is also unaware of being bait). They reached the squadron and made the delivery, staying and resting a bit as they usually did. Unfortunately they would not rest long as they soon found themselves under attack. Swindle was going to stay and fight but their friend told him to get Zero to safety. Swindle gave him his word that he would and fled with Zero finding them a safe route back to the base they had left from earlier that day. From there they waited for word from the battlefront but when they finally got news it wasn’t good. There had been no survivors and their friend’s shell had been recovered from the site of the battle. The loss hit them hard and while they did continue running their routes it wasn’t the same.
After some time Swindle became selected to be one of the members of the Combaticon gestalt. While this would mean separation from Zero he also recognized the vast benefits and thus did not object. Before leaving he assured Zero that they were bound to meet again and tried to ignore how hard it was to leave her. However he still had a bit of emotional turmoil built up inside him. When the chosen Combaticons met for the first time to be reformatted none of them seemed to like each other and Swindle was not thrilled about being the shortest of the group. When Vortex began teasing him about it that set him off and the two of them began fighting ultimately leading to Vortex trapping him in his cargo hold for one of his infamous rides and Swindle unloading on him from the inside with every weapon he could access. After blowing off steam like that he felt a bit better and he and Vortex became the closest out of the Combaticons.
Some time later the Combaticons were selected to help with the Decepticon attempt to take “The Archetype” for themselves. Zero too had been selected to help seeing as she was supply transport and could transport this supposed super weapon out. The two enjoyed the brief reunion before the mission actually began. Unfortunately the mission did not go smoothly, partially due to the fact that the Decepticons had not counted on “The Archetype” being an actual bot. Swindle pursued Arc as they made their escape along with Vortex and Zero but they lost them due to Arc’s invisibility and danger sense making Arc the only weapon Swindle went after but was unable to get his hands on.
Recently Swindle and Vortex have been sent to Earth to help with the war there, the rest of their Gestalt planning to come later. While having Vortex around is a comfort he hates the separation from his gestalt mates. Once he learns “The Archetype” is on Earth he will develop a slight obsession with getting them.
