Rper: Fear the Engineer
Character type: Original Character
Name: Deconstructor
Nicknames: Deco; Maverick
Gender Identity: Male
Approx age: Equivalent of a 17-year-old
Alliance: Decepticons
Function/Job: Explosives Technician; Reconnissance
Height: 4.5 meters
Approx mass: 1550 kilograms
Cybertronian type: Normal Cybertronian
Personality: Deconstructor is reckless, impulsive, and disaster-prone. When someone is needed for a risky mission which involves the possibility of death, Deconstructor will usually be the first to volunteer... and the first to walk into a trap. However, he is quick-minded not just as a reckless maniac, but also at thinking of an escape route instantly, and seemingly always has a backup plan to get out of whatever dillemmas he gets into. He thinks very quickly, and acts on his thoughts just as fast. This can be very bad or very good - his impulsiveness can get him into sticky situations, or get him out of them in ways that nobody could have imagined. Deconstructor is usually defiant, even to his own teammates, and doesn't act like how he truly thinks... He can be described as a daredevil, but he does know where the limits are. He just doesn't like to stay behind the line. He is always compelled to try something new and dangerous - the more unique, the better - and is driven to extremes even when the circumstances are far from extreme. Sometimes his rather unorthodox plans have a strategic advantage... Most of the time, though, they merely make him a liability. Despite his compulsive need for danger, Deconstructor is quite intelligent and has some understanding of complicated concepts such as applied physics. Furthermore, he is a pyromaniac and loves to build new explosives or incendiaries - as well as corresponding devices for transport or dispersal. Deconstructor's mad antics often frustrate superiors and underlings alike, and the psychological torture amuses him greatly. He likes to play tricks on the enemies and confuse them, and could be considered something of a criminal genius - if he weren't too much of a risk-taker to see his plans through efficiently.

Fears
He fears suppression, which often leads him to rebel against his own teammates. He also fears the boredom of a mundane reality and will do anything to avoid it - including turning a simple circumstance into an extreme, overcomplicated scenario. He detests helplessness and constantly tries to make himself appear stronger than others in some way. Due to the nature of his electron manipulation capability, Deconstructor fears the electric/electromagnetic of RF generating devices that can render him incapacitated. He also dislikes - but doesn't outright fear - theoretical concepts and anything that can't be readily explained in some way or another.
Appearance: Deconstructor is around fifteen feet tall, perhaps slightly shorter. He is slender and agile, though not as strong as the average Transformer. His body is mostly silvery-grey, with dark blue upper arms and legs, and the Decepticon insignia prominent on the center of his chest. His form is gaunt and angular, and opponents might make the mistake of believing he would be easy to knock over.
Alt mode: 2008 Dodge (Plymouth) Prowler
Holoform: Michael Kettering; height 175 cm
Weapons: Deconstructor is able to control and manipulate objects on a subatomic level by projecting electromagnetic energy generated by his own internal systems into the physical world, therefore changing the direction in which electrons rotate and/or travel around the nuclei of atoms. By doing this, he can dematerialize and materialize objects, splice them together, or just cause them to disintegrate and be left in the form of a bunch of stray atoms. However, it only works at close range - ideally if he is touching the object(s) he affects - and only has a range of about ten feet. Manipulating large and/or distant objects severely weakens him and uses a great deal of energy. Furthermore, he can only affect fully immobile objects - the motion associated with animated objects deflects the field he generates to manipulate electrons and therefore neutralizes the effect. He can ionize and accelerate particles in the atmosphere to create a concentrated particle beam with a range of fifty feet, capable of burning through most materials but weak compared to other particle beams and loses its thermal energy relatively quickly on contact. He stores on his person a small supply of chemicals which are harmless on their own, but when mixed produce powerful binary explosive compounds. This is strategic for reconnissance, but rather useless in battle where one has little time to mix binary explosives.
Abilities: Deconstructor is able to control and manipulate objects on a subatomic level by projecting electromagnetic energy from his own internal systems into the physical world, therefore changing the direction in which electrons rotate and/or travel around the nuclei of atoms. Strengths: He doesn't panic under pressing circumstances, which can make him a valuable asset to his team in extreme situations. Quick-thinking and good with his intellect, and lack of constraint to standard procedure, sometimes help him see what the enemy is planning (or just cause him to overanalyze it) and let him contrive plans of his own that they would never see coming. He is very obstinate and strong-willed, sometimes a disadvantage but it also refuses to let him fall for others' offers and tricks.
Weaknesses: His impulsive, impatient, "living in the moment" outlook often puts him in dangerous situations... which he rarely sees as dangerous. He takes off on his own without letting others know what he's doing, sometimes jeopardizing his own or his team's strategic plans. He hates rules and authority, and is deliberately defiant, even to superiors who he knows have the power and capability to severely damage him for his insolence. Because of his ability to generate an electromagnetic field through his own body for subatomic manipulation, he is extremely susceptible to be weakened by electric or electromagnetic devices, or RF transmitters, sometimes even those as simple as high-power human radio transmitters. Electromagnetic fields generated by specific materials such as lodestone, or even from power relay stations, can interfere with or block his ability to dematerialize objects, something which he never accounts for in his insane plans.

History: As a sparkling, Deconstructor was something of an engineer, always experimenting with new things just to see what the outcome would be. He was skilled with electrical and electronics engineering and could repair technological articles without any confusion, but his intention was somewhat twisted, and many of his fellow Transformers feared him... It could be said that he was somewhat of a mad scientist. Deconstructor had no interest in causing harm - He just had no natural understanding of the difference between right and wrong, nor did he believe there was a difference. During that time, he attended medic-technician class, learning how to repair other Cybertronians. He got to be an advanced student, but was forced to quit the class before he graduated because of a mistake that happened with one of his experiments - he was expelled for unorthorox experimentation. One day, a particle physics experiment went rather wrong due to hidden sabotage and nearly damaged Deconstructor beyond repair. When he was recovering from the near-fatal events, some creatures came and desecrated the Cybertronian town in which he lived... Mechs living in the now-desolate down fleed to a system of underground fallout shelters. There, Deconstructor became the apprentice of a technical advisor running a repair shop and learned more about the maze of circuitry which caused complex machines to operate. All seemed to be going well, he was experimenting with new uses for conduit bending and was attacked by robotic spiders. They were small and not capable of causing much damage, but something unexpected happened... As Deconstructor was trying to fight off the spiders, several small metal objects with a similar molecular structure disintegrated. The spiders, some circuit components, and other similar electrical devices were all gone, broken into particles as the sparkling watched. He had, at the time, no idea what happened, though the mech running the repair shop was exceedingly angry. Things didn't improve, either, when he found a huge ball of seemingly melted-together metal under Deconstructor's recharge chamber. He was furious, and had the sparkling sent away.
It was later determined that the experiment which had nearly killed him had also changed him - It changed the way each part of his body was connected to the next at a subatomic level, which gave him a unique electromagnetic property enabling him to use electrons from the atmosphere to generate an electrical field that manipulated electrons in neighboring objects. Slowly, over time, he learned to control it, and to telekinetically alter the direction in which electrons orbited the nucleus of an atom, as well as the direction in which they rotated by projecting electrical energy from his own systems into the physical world. By doing this, he was able to dematerialize and rematerialize... but that wasn't all. As he became older and stronger, his ability advanced. He became able to manipulate not only the electrons of his own body, but of surrounding immobile objects as well - though it only works in very close range; around ten feet. In addition to dematerializing objects, he became able to splice them together... and, having been a mad scientist centuries ago, he was easily able to use this ability in creative and demented ways. He also discovered, by accident, that large amounts of electrical or electromagnetic energy could control him because of this ability, and severely weaken him for a time.
After being sent away by the owner of the repair shop, Deconstructor spent several years living on the streets of the underground city, making money by repairing electrical devices for other mechs as a journeyman. Eventually he was found by an
explosives technician looking for an apprentice, who asked Deconstructor to repair a detonator for him. When the technician discovered how good a repairman Deconstructor was, he asked him to come and work for him. Deconstructor accepted and accompanied the technician back to his shop. There, he learned how to make dynamite and Composition-4. He learned how to handle the explosives safely, how to set them off, and what their detonation velocities are. The technician was no easygoing teacher, either... He expected Deconstructor to study very hard, and if he did anything wrong, there were always conscequences.
While it may have seemed like torture to some mechs, Deconstructor learned well from it. He worked hard and strived for perfection. He actually came to enjoy working with the rowdy explosives technician. A few milennia later, when Deconstructor was the equivelant of a 15-year-old human, he was working in the shop to cover for the explosives technician, who was out buying supplies. While he was working, the underground city was attacked by a group of Decepticons. Many shops and homes were destroyed, and many mechs - including the explosives technician who had trained Deconstructor - were killed.
In a frantic attempt to save his life, Deconstructor set up many explosives of many different types outside the door and took the cord connected to the detonator into the back room, then all the way to the basement. He pushed the detonator button, and there was a ground-shaking, wracking "Boom!" which caused the entire front of the building to collapse... an attempt to bury the Decepticon attackers in rubble, which nearly succeeded. If they had been five feet closer, it would have succeeded.
Surprisingly, though, the Decepticons weren't angry when they found Deconstructor... they were impressed. Instead of trying to kill him, they asked him to join their ranks... and he did.
