Windsong flicked his ailerons in acknowledgement, moving them only enough so he didn't change pitch or turn. <"Very well, nice to meet and your creator under such...interesting circumstances."> Windsong replied, a hints of genuine curiosity and formality in his tone. He was curious about EDI's creation as well as his creator, he had yet to have a chance to interact with a human before. He picked up speed but made sure to not go too fast since he knew EDI was carrying a human. <"Your boss was...taken care of. He might be in a pickle of a situation to get out of for a while, literally and figuratively speaking."> he added with a little chuckle.

"Thank you, EDI." Keith replied sincerely and patted the console before him gently. "I think this way we will have better control over the situation, and with allies we will have additional protection. We could change the way people thing about the Cybertronians, EDI. Your new acquaintance can probably help as well, since he is one without a doubt." of course, Keith was actually wrong about the latter, but he didn't know any better. He finally relaxed fully and folded his arms, keeping his leg muscles loose so they wouldn't risk falling asleep faster.
Since he could hear Windsong now, he smiled. "Nice to meet one of our supposed enemies in person. Thank you for assisting us, Windsong. I dig the alternate mode, by the way. In case you didn't catch the name, my name is Dr. Keith Orbit. You can just call me Keith."

EDI let Windsong hear Keith's words as he addressed the alien aircraft, as well as letting Keith hear everything Windsong said to them and EDI's responses. "I am hopeful as well, father." he replied to Keith, then looked to Windsong. <"What did you do with Jack Hurst?"> he asked the jet, clearly curious considering the amused tone the alien had when he spoke of the man's current predicament. He had seen the alien pick up Jack's vehicle, but did not see where he had gone with it and its unwilling passenger, though he had hoped that Windsong had not killed him, EDI was determined to do that himself if the situation deteriorated further.

<"He's a little...tied up in some trees now."> Windsong replied with a brief snicker, which got a short laugh out of Keith. So these Bots had humor, he liked that! The Sukhoi offered to send a brief image of the crunched Silverado up in the trees behind the Colorado base far off in the distance. <"It's his turn to play the game of survival.">
"That it is!" Keith replied earnestly.

<"I think that is a fitting punishment for Jack Hurst and what he has done."> EDI responded, showing Keith the image as a hologram in front of his AI sphere. There was a clear note of amusement in EDI's voice then, and if he could have, he would likely have offered his own chuckle. As it was, EDI had not learned to laugh, at least not yet. Something bothered EDI though, and he decided to ask Keith about it. "Father, why was Jack so hostile towards you? Why did he try to hurt you? Why did he seem to hate me so much?" he asked, trying to understand what he had observed of the human, and in particular his clear display of animosity towards EDI and his creator.

"Frustration over technological endeavors, EDI. Something you don't need to be too concerned with. There were issues with previous projects he was a part of, such as this KARR project, I've heard. You were the newest greatest thing when your parts were rescued. He had high hopes for you as a war machine. Which, is safe to say you still technically are, but his plans for you did not meet my own, and our goals are evidently conflicted. Things might have turned out differently if I felt more threatened by the Cybertronians, but luckily I know differently now. I guess I could probably understand them better since I have you, EDI." Keith replied, willing to expand on anything the AI didn't understand.

EDI thought over Keith's words for a moment, then began searching for information, though he could not find anything of value or relevance. "Father, what is the KARR project? Is the KARR project about an AI like me?" he asked, full of curiosity. If there were other AI's like himself, maybe he could reach out to them, communicate with them. He also wondered if any of them would be considered EDI's brothers, though he kept that thought quiet for now.

"KARR was, from what little I know about him, an AI vehicle designed to protect humans. Created by some guy named Charles Graiman." Keith replied with a shrug. "Apparently the programming protocols failed and was irreversible. KARR turned out to be a very defensive, temperamental AI who was focused on self preservation. He was shut down due to their intense mistrust in him and the casualties that had been wrought. He was one example of what I didn't want to have happen to you, EDI. I didn't want you to become confused the way he did." Of course, Keith didn't know a newer version of the program corrected existed, and he also didn't know KARR himself existed as a Decepticon, but hopefully neither would find out any time soon.

EDI grew sad for the AI KARR, wondering how he must have felt being so confused and stressed, not knowing what he was or what was happening to him, let alone why the humans chose to shut him down. "I think I can understand KARR's confusion, why he had made the mistakes he made that caused the humans to not trust him. I almost became that same thing, hated and feared by those who made me, by you. Ben, it was Ben who showed me, who taught me. He helped me understand what I had done wrong and why it was wrong. And then there was you, in Alaska, when you learned I had begun to feel. You seemed surprised and happy for what I had achieved." He thought for a moment then, and an idea came to him. "After we meet with the Autobots, could we go find KARR? I could teach him, I could help him understand as Ben had helped me to understand." he suggested, though he had no way of knowing just how bad it had really gotten with KARR, or of a second newer AI that had been built to take KARR's place. All EDI knew was that he wanted to help KARR, he didn't want to be alone and he didn't want KARR to be alone either.

"I don't know if he still exists, EDI, but we can try, we can certainly try." Keith replied with a proud smile. "If he is alive, I'm sure he needs someone he can trust for once in his life, I hear he was shut down on multiple occasions, only to be rebuilt again. Thus why I am unsure of his status, I was never a part of the project." Keith said, thinking back to the days he was still more active at the University.

EDI thrummed softly as he thought about KARR, wondering what he might be like. The thought was drawing him in, another AI, an AI like himself. He felt the strong urge to find this AI as soon as possible, but first, he had to attend to the mission at hand. "Thank you for understanding, father." he offered softly as he flew, following Windsong across the country to where the Autobots were. Apprehensive though he was, he trusted in his creator, and he was also extremely protective of Keith. He did have to wonder if they might have connections that would enable EDI to find Ben and Kara, however, and with that thought, he began to have hope that maybe this really was a good thing indeed.

"No problem, EDI."
Gradually their chatter quieted, Windsong was listening to his own music and thinking about the current events. Keith didn't really sleep along the way, he was too busy looking at the sites when he could and thinking about the current events just like Windsong. He was wired, and admittedly a bit stressed. He had trouble staying relaxed in his seat even though he was technically quite comfortable. He had great visibility too, nothing barred the canopy unlike some fixed wing aircraft.
He knew it would be up to Windsong to lead them into the airspace properly, he didn't think EDI had much of any experience with that, so it would be a learning experience for him. NEST probably had its own protocols too, so that would certainly be interesting. Along the way, they hailed to each Air Route Traffic Control Centers when needed to make transitioning easy. The Bot learned the ways of the highly regulated air traffic procedures fast, that was for sure, but then again he'd probably been here a while. Once again, that was something Keith merely assumed.

Windsong reviewed air traffic procedures regularly. Because he flew so much, he had to adapt quickly to landing at new places and passing through so many Centers in his travels. "I will make initial contact with the base and local Center for a smooth approach. Take caution, there are lots of buildings on either side of the runway." Windsong told him. "These guys are used to dealing with alien aircraft, which is nice since I'm still getting used to this place."
He hoped Optimus or one of the other officers would be around to speak to them.
"EDI...Are you and Dr. Orbit going to stay with us?"

EDI considered the information that Windsong gave him, then thought over the question that was asked. <"I do not know how long we will remain here."> he responded honestly, then considered the layout of the base. <"I will observe your landing and we will land nearby once you have designated a touchdown location."> he added confidently. EDI needed no runway, all he needed was a patch of ground large enough for him to fit into. The Stealth UCAV was a V/STOL Aircraft, after all. To demonstrate this, EDI maneuvered himself a little outside the base and hovered there over the water, waiting quietly with his creator until it was time for him to actually land.

<"I see, well, stick around as long as you need, once they hear of what's going on I'm sure you'll be welcomed by the others."> Windsong performed a box-like approach pattern to the airstrip. When he got onto his final approach path, he made a steady, shallow approach opposite of EDI's current direction. This was the way the winds happened to be moving at this point, so maximum efficiency and stability could be obtained. The controller reported the local wind direction again in case it changed with in the next few minutes - it was variable and light at the moment, so there was no telling what they would do in a matter of moments from now.
Once Windsong was clear of the runway and exited it, he took a taxiway that led him to one side of the tarmac and waited patiently. He thought it was pretty awesome this aircraft was capable of hovering, he couldn't but he could achieve something close when he wanted to slow down mid flight. It was a more dangerous task for him, but it could be done. He wiggled his ailerons at EDI, beckoning him to follow when he was ready.
