As some of you may have been informed, I have lost most of my vision, I am classed as legally blind now and have to use a screen reader and magnifier in order to operate online. Well, I have a few requests I would like for people to keep in mind in the future to keep the forum as accessible for me as possible. They are as follows:
>Please use the largest font (14 for non-chatango supporters) possible in the chat box, my screen reader doesn’t get along with the cbox so I have to use my magnifier to be able to read it and larger fonts make it that much easier.
>Do not use light colored font colors in the cbox, as said before my screen reader can’t pick it up. Please use colors that provide a high contrast against the cbox background (or your own background if you use one) so I can read it on my magnifier program without having to strain.
>My screen reader program stops reading a line of text when it encounters a link, so please, I would like to ask you to stop putting links in your RP posts, you may put them at the bottom instead, so I can read the full lines in the post without my screen reader stopping mid-line. Also be really nice if you noted that links follow when you put them at the bottom of the page, but just not putting them within the post should do well enough.
>Don’t try to be sneaky and think that I can’t read something because you hide it among links, the other admins on this site are still fully sighted and I do live with one of them, the other is not far from me, so keep that in mind.
>Please understand that seeing images has become quite a challenge for me. For future apps, I would like if you could at least try to type a description, even if you have a photo. I realize I was bad about that in the past myself but, now, with my sight near gone, I understand the importance of having a typed appearance description.
>Please understand and be patient with me if I ask for a description of a photo and/or video someone links in chat. I cannot see them very well anymore and I would like to not miss out on everything due to it.
If I encounter other things that are difficult with this vision loss, I may ask for a few adjustments. I do not mean to inconvenience anyone thus why this is not being put into the rules, but merely something I am asking people to keep in mind. If you don’t want to then I cannot force you, you’ll just look like a bit of a jerk but that’s your choice. I thank those of you who do try to take this into consideration in advanced.
