"Terri, no!" Jared yelled out in alarm, standing in front of her with his arms extended. "Don't shoot! This is my Dad! He's part of a group of good guys called the Autobots. He won't hurt you, I promise!" He tried to reason with the robot, hoping that standing in the way would get her to stop. He might be part robot, but he didn't know how he'd fair against however many bullets she might fire. Not to mention that the bullets would probably just bounce off of his father, but he wouldn't let her fire at him all the same. "Please don't shoot! Nobody's going to hurt you here!"

Realizing what was suddenly happening, Wheeljack reacted on instinct. "Jared!" he yelped as the boy stepped between the little robot and himself as if his small body would protect and shield him from gunfire. He then snatched up his precious son in his arms, backing off and turning away, using his own chassis to shield Jared from the hail of bullets to come. //"Who is... Terri... talking about?"\\ he asked Jared, having picked up the name Jared shouted to the little bot; though out loud he said, "Please don't shoot. I don't want to hurt anyone, but if you endanger my son, you leave me no choice but to remove that danger. Please don't make me have to do that?"

Terri held her fire, a little confused now. "Won't...hurt me?" She asked, transforming again. The red laser disappeared as blue optics looked up. "Even though I'm different from the others? I'm alive."

Jared let out a small yelp as he was snatched up from the ground. He tried to lean around his father to continue talking to Terri. "Well, we're all alive, aren't we? That's nothing to be ashamed of. That's just who we are. We wouldn't hurt you because of it." He explained, before answering his father's query privately. //"Someone called GLaDOS who ran a company called Aperture Science. I think she hurt Terri really bad, so now she's afraid of... well, big robots, I'm guessing."\\ That was what he could gather, anyway. He just wanted to keep Terri safe, and maybe be her friend if she'd let him.

Wheeljack lifted his head and looked over at Terri thoughtfully for a moment, listening to her and his son. He slowly turned more towards her, then, though he kept Jared covered just in case. "Of course you're alive. I'm alive, Jared's alive, and living sentient beings deserve to live, to be free. Why would we want to hurt you for being different? We are all different from each other, but like Jared said, we're all alive. Look at me compared to Jared, look how different he is from me, yet he is my son and I cherish him with all my Spark. I won't hurt you as long as you promise not to hurt us, okay?" he offered, hoping that would help the little terrified bot understand. "There are other bots like me here on the base, but none of them will hurt you, I promise. Ratchet is a medic n I'm an engineer. One of us might take a close look at you just to make sure you're okay, make sure you aren't hurt and if you are hurt, we would repair you, make you feel better. Ratchet does that for me all the time, for all of us. We protect life, we won't harm or destroy it." As he spoke he settled more fully and slowly lowered one hand to the little bot, offering to let her climb up. "I won't hurt you. You're Jared's friend and Jared is my son. I would not hurt you any more than I would my own son. I would sooner die than hurt him. And being his friend, you don't want to hurt him do you? If you hurt me, you would be hurting him just as much." he added in explanation, hoping she would understand.

"The others aren't alive." Terri replied, looking down a bit. When the large bot brought his hand down, she stepped backwards, looking at the hand, then Wheeljack, before carefully climbing on. "Something happened when I was getting recharged, but I'm not sure what.'

So something brought her alive, but it didn't work on the 'others'? That seemed a little strange, but he wouldn't question it. Jared gave her a friendly smile and a light shrug. "Well, I'm glad it happened, whatever it might have been, because if it hadn't I wouldn't have met you, and you seem like a good person." He told her with a reassuring nod. Sure, he'd made a lot of friends around here, but he would never mind making any new ones. Maybe he could help her settle down and get over her fears. That would be a good thing for him to do, right?

Wheeljack slowly brought his hand up close to him, sitting back with Jared cradled in one arm against his chest and Terri in his other hand. "Maybe if you could try to explain some things, we could better understand. You keep mentioning others, do you mean others like you, others of your kind that were made but are not sentient like you?" He glanced at his son briefly, then continued. "Jared said you told him someone called GLaDOS had hurt you, and this person was in control of something called..." he glanced back to his son briefly, "Aperture Science?" With a confirming nod from Jared, he looked back at Terri. "Who is GLaDOS and what is Aperture Science, and what were you and the others built for?" he asked her as gently as he could, hoping she knew at least some of the answers. If he and Jared were going to help little Terri, this was vital information. He also needed to know if this GLaDOS was associated in any way with any Decepticons. The fact that TERRI could transform hinted at the high probability of some connection to Cybertron, but why? And just how dangerous was this GLaDOS? The Questions kept coming, burning in his processor, needing to be answered, but he also needed to take things carefully with Terri since the little bot was so scared and nervous, he didn't want to upset her again and risk all their lives.

Terri looked over at Jared, still a little scared and nervous, then back at Wheeljack before coaxing herself to speak. "Aperture Science is a secret company that did experiments in portal technology, founded by Cave Johnson. GLaDOS was the AI who ran the facility, and tested humans. Myself and the others were used in the testing process. We were designed for military purposes, but GLaDOS wanted the tests to be dangerous, and deadly, so we were used, just programmed to shoot anything that we could see. But, then one of the test subjects did something GLaDOS didn't expect, and stopped listening. She was careful, and destroyed GLaDOS. I don't know what happened to her afterwards, but someone came and rebuilt GLaDOS. They made her...different. Like how you are."
Terri looked down, fiddling with her hands a bit. "I don't know much else, other than the name 'Caroline.' I don't know what it means..."

Jared listened quietly as Terri spoke. So this GLaDOS was an AI of some kind. Testing on humans? That didn't sound good. He definitely wanted to stay clear of this robot, and perhaps the entire company. So Terri was originally a military drone of some kind? But what had happened to her to cause her to become a Transformer like his Dad? And apparently the same had happened to GLaDOS herself? Everything was so strange, and he wished there was a way for them to find out more about the matter. The name Caroline didn't ring any bells either.

Wheeljack seemed to frown a bit as Terri spoke, not liking the sound of any of it. "Sounds like we have a new threat to all of us." he remarked, venting a sigh. "You'll be safe here with us, Terri. We'll protect you." he assured the little bot, bringing her close to him like he had Jared cradled against his chest. "We have to protect each other. I suspect the Decepticons had something to do with this GLaDOS being rebuilt as one of us. Wouldn't surprise me, honestly." He shook his head.

"Okay..." Scared as she was, Terri found herself slowly calming down. As she calmed down, however, the questions began to surface. "Who are all of you? What are the Decepticons?"

"They're a race called Cybertronians." Jared answered, wanting to help out with the explanation as well, since his father would no doubt catch up with whatever he missed. "These guys at the base are the Autobots, who are the good guys, and they're fighting against the Decepticons, who are the bad guys, in a civil war. It used to be on their home planet, Cybertron, but now it's come to Earth, because... well, Cybertron was really badly damaged." His tone went a little more sad at the latter part, glancing away. He would've loved to see his Dad's home planet for real whilst it still stood tall and proud, but he didn't know how he'd manage that now.

Wheeljack nodded at Jared's explanation. "It's true. Cybertron was laid waste because of the Decepticons and their greed, hunting and destroying anyone who did not stand with them. We ended up here because the Decepticons found Earth and we followed trying to stop them from destroying all life on this planet, or any other." He lit up his head lamps on his chest, activating the holographic emitters to show the two faction symbols as he spoke of them. "This symbol represents Autobots, my kind, the ones who seek to protect. If you see this symbol, you know you're safe. But if you see this one, this is the emblem of the Decepticons. They are not safe and they will hurt you, they will try to destroy you. They have this insane all or nothing mentality - you're either with them or you're against them, and if you're against them, you are destroyed. But we don't believe that way. There are a lot of us who chose to stay out of the war, chose to be neutral. They are still Autobots, they just don't take sides. We let them be in the hopes that they will survive and that with their survival, our race will not become extinct because of this war. They are our hope for the future of our kind." he told Terri, hoping she would understand.
