RPer: Suburban Wulf (Chasm)
Character Type: Permanent
Name: Red Alert
Nickname: Red
Gender Identity: Mech
Approximate Age: Equivalent of a human in their mid to late 20s
Alliance: Autobots
Function/Job: Security Chief (Officer)
Height: 15.5 feet
Approximate Mass: 1.3 Metric Tons
Type of Cybertronian: Normal Cybertronian
Personality: Red Alert is one of the most paranoid characters one could meet. He is generally distrustful and suspicious of new faces from the start, which usually goes away after some time. Because of his job, he is slightly OCD about things, and usually just ends up doing most of the work himself. He also has a tendency to push himself to the point of exhaustion while working, and still try to keep going. Relaxation is a mostly foreign concept to him, his paranoia keeping him from being able to relax. At times, it can even get out of hand, leading him to make wild accusations, spout countless conspiracy theories, and even attack those he’s known for countless stellar-cycles, before finally cashing his CPU, requiring him to be rebooted. His “horns” tend to spark when this occurs.
Red Alert also enjoys keeping a stash of blackmail tapes, just in case a bot gets it in their head to cause him too much trouble. He does so with great pleasure, but does not usually go out of his way to obtain the blackmail. Because of this, he can be convinced to turn a blind optic to a harmless prank, though it usually involves doing him a favor in return.
Appearance:
Alt Mode: Red Alert’s alt mode is a Lamborghini Countach. He has a red and white paint job, and decals that denote that the vehicle he scanned for his alt was a fire chief vehicle.
Holoform/Human Form: Red Alert’s holoform, named Michael, is around average-sized for a human male, maybe a little shorter. His skin is pale, and slight wrinkles are already showing. Dark circles under his eyes, as well as grey patches in his red hair and the wrinkles, betray the immense stress that he is constantly under. His outfit consists of black pants, a white, button-down shirt that is tucked into the pants, and a red tie. A badge on his left breast pocket denotes his position as Autobot Chief of Security.
Weapons: Red Alert has no weaponry in his vehicle mode. In robot mode, he has a shoulder-mounted mini-missile launcher, and a particle beam rifle.
Abilities: (VReferenceV)
Red Alert can trigger an electronic alarm on each of his fellow Autobots. His sensory perception is excellent. His visual acuity is such that he can pinpoint a 2 cm microchip at 1200 feet. He can hear a pin drop - at a distance of 1.4 miles! And his olfactory module can detect odors as weak as 2 parts per million. (^Reference^)
Strengths: Red Alert’s paranoia does allow for some good things. It makes him look at something more closely and more often than another bot might, so he tends to catch the more subtle threats that have been over-looked countless times. It also keeps him vigilant, though many would argue that he’s “taking it too far.” Copies of the security tapes are kept safe, just in case they need to go through past footage to find something. His paranoia also leads him to change the passwords for almost everything about once every week or so.
Weaknesses: Red Alert’s paranoia, more specifically the glitch that gives him his paranoia, is his biggest weak point. If worked up enough, his glitch can overload his CPU, leaving him in stasis until he can be fixed and rebooted. His glitch also prevents him from trusting newcomers, which can cause problems when odd things begin to happen, as the ones he distrusts will often be on the receiving end of a conspiracy theory. His glitch also can prevent him from developing close friendships with others, as it will refuse to trust them.
Family: Creators; names unknown.
History: Red Alert did not have an easy beginning to his life. Having a glitch was not something you wanted everyone to know, and he did his best to hide it. The only place he found that he could fit in without giving his secret away was security jobs, and so that’s where he started. His paranoia helped him excel as a security bot, and when the war started one of his friends convinced him to join the Autobots. Red Alert did so, though regarded everyone with suspicion.
He was routinely assigned to bases that were so lacking in security, many were surprised that they had not already been overrun by the Decepticons. That never stopped Red Alert from trying to do his job. Which, he did very well. Not one of the bases was lost to Decepticons while he was in charge of security. After several hundred thousand years of doing this, Red Alert was noticed by the powers above…
Now, Red Alert is the Chief of Security for the Autobots, and does his job better than many bots would like. Although usually unfounded, his paranoia and theories have led to Decepticon plots or spies being uprooted. With the Autobots moving to Earth, Red Alert has determined that the security is far too lax for that many officers to be there. His arrival on Earth will promise to spice up life at NEST, especially once he sees the state of security.
Additional Info: As a further safety precaution, Red Alert divided the control of the security system in two. Most of the control is with the security panel, as to be expected. The rest of the control is wired into Red Alert himself, giving him limited remote access. The information is not listed on any of his files, and he has not told anyone, not even Optimus. This being so, the only way to completely knock out the entire security system is to destroy both the panel, and Red Alet. With that in mind, Red Alert has secured this information behind countless firewalls, and has hidden viruses in the firewalls, should the firewalls come down.
