Ironhide shrugged and gave Barricade a nod. ~"Yeah, yer interface module is under yer lower abdominal plates here."~ he replied, resting his hand on his own protective plates. ~"I suppose ya can self interface, pluggin' yer cable inta yer own port, but it ain't as much fun that way."~ he added with another shrug. ~"The release feels pretty good too. I know it helps me when I need a bit o' down time n blowin' things ta slag dun help as much as it should."~ Ironhide tilted his head as he looked at the smaller mech. ~"Ain't ya ever wondered why those plates were so sensitive?"~ he asked curiously, knowing Barricade was certainly old enough to have explored such things, even if it was just his own chassis.

One of Barricade's optics twitched slightly at the explanation. ~"A little bit, but until I came here I was always, oh, I don't know, fighting for my survival. An' when I got here, I'd really just, well, forgotten about it. I had more important things on my processor."~ Thought now, and he wasn't about to admit it, he was curious, and once he was back in his own quarters, he planned on investigating what it was that Ironhide was talking about.

Ironhide took the attitude in stride, mostly ignoring the sarcasm in Barricade's voice for the time being. He held up his dactyls then, lightly patting the air in a half Sparked gesture to calm Barricade down. ~"I know, I know, ya dun gotta tell me bout fightin' fer survival. I been doin' it since well fore ya were Spawned."~ he answered. He then rested his dactyls on his hip struts, regarding Barricade thoughtfully. ~"But I also know that survival dun just mean keepin' yer Spark on line, it's about yer sanity too. Get too over stressed n yer neural core's gonna short out on ya. I've seen what can happen, it ain't pretty."~ He then stepped forward and brought up a large articulated hand to rest on Barricade's shoulder. ~"If there's a Bot here ya trust, go to em n let em ease yer twisted actuator coils n relax yer frame. You'll snap like low grade scrap if ya don't..."~ he lifted his other hand and tapped a digit against his own cranial plating, ~"...up here..."~ He wasn't about to offer himself up for such a thing, but he made it clear by his posture and steady optic gaze that he would not turn Barricade away if he asked. He liked the young mech. He was strong, capable, and intelligent, and he was carefully grooming Barricade to help with security and perhaps one day take his place among the Defense forces when his own Spark gave out and moved on to rejoin Primus. At least that was Ironhide's hope anyway.

~"I'll keep that in mind, Ironhide."~ Barricade replied. Apart from Ironhide, there really wasn't anyone that Barricade trusted, or who trusted him, for that matter. Especially after the recent incident with Torque. He didn't think it was appropriate to ask Ironhide, considering their relationship was that of teacher and student. It just meant Barricade would have to find another way to "de-stress," and he was already getting a couple ideas. ~"Ironhide, are we allowed to start obtaining personal weapons?"~

Ironhide thought about the question for a moment, regarding Barricade quizzically. ~"Hmmm... Well, since ya earned the Squad leader spot, I dun see why ya can't have some live fire."~ he replied. He then firmly gripped Barricade's shoulder for a moment. ~"But, ya only carry em on patrol, not in the trainin' yard. Got it?"~ he said firmly, though still in a tone reserved for friends. He didn't want Barricade thinking he had gone soft or was bending the rules for a friend. Far from it, he actually pushed Barricade as hard as he pushed any new recruit, and he had made that fact very clear to young Barricade, and for his part, the tri-colored mech seemed to appreciate the brutal honesty Ironhide showed him at every turn.

Barricade allowed himself a grin, not a smirk like he normally gave when he was happy, a true, full-out grin. ~"No problem! It'll prolly be a bit before it'll even be ready anyways."~ He had an idea for a weapon, and now that Ironhide had given consent, Barricade figured that this would be a better way to relieve stress. ~"Gotta get the stuff to make it, first."~

Ironhide smiled back at his young friend and patted his shoulder firmly. ~"A specialized piece then. Sounds good. If ya need any help with anything, just let me know."~ he offered and patted Barricade's shoulder again. This would be the young mech's first true signature weapon and Ironhide was certainly proud of how far Barricade had come to earn such a thing for himself, to find it within himself at last, just as Ironhide had long ago when he had built his arm cannons. Such a weapon was not simply made on a whim, it was searched for, dreamed about, fought for until the design finally manifested itself in full within a mech's processor. That was how Ironhide had earned his cannons, how all Autobot warriors earned their unique signature weapon. ~"I look forward ta seein' what yer Spark created fer ya."~ he added and glanced at his arm cannons affectionately.

Barricade chuckled. ~"Gonna have to wait until it's all done, 'Hide. Would spoil the surprise, otherwise."~ Truth was, Barricade was still feeling out what the exact design was. It wasn't cannons, or anything like that, he knew that much. ~"But I'll do my best to be sure that you're the second to know what it looks like!"~

Ironhide chuckled lightly in response. ~"Alright, I'll accept that one."~ he responded with a good natured back slap. ~"C'mon, 'Cade, let's go in n get us some Energon."~ he added and started in towards the exit portal from the training yard. He was glad he could calm both himself and Barricade, and turn the day around for them both into something much more pleasant. Besides, they were friends, and friends don't let friends down when they're needed most. That was something Ironhide firmly believed in with all his Spark.

Barricade stumbled a bit at the slap, being a bit shorter and smaller than Ironhide, and laughed. ~"Sounds good to me!"~ He replied, then suddenly dashed for the door. ~"Last one there's a rusty old petro-rabbit!"~ He called before taking off down the hall, laughing. He foul mood from earlier had completely dissipated, though if and when it popped up again was yet to be seen.

~"Hey! Get back here ya lil Scraplet!"~ Ironhide shouted and gave chase after his dear friend, barreling down the corridors after Barricade like an over large Sparkling, laughing the whole way. It felt good to laugh and be silly sometimes. The seriousness of training sometimes got to Ironhide and he knew that if he needed moments to decompress and unwind, then the others did too. He liked hearing them laugh, especially Barricade. He never relaxed and just laughed enough for Ironhide's liking, the young mech was simply too young to be serious all the time and Ironhide was glad to see him just have a bit of fun. And so what if some of the other instructors gave him the dark optic stare, Ironhide didn't much care, he and Barricade were genuinely laughing, that was all that really mattered.

Barricade laughed again. ~"Gonna have to catch me, slow-poke!"~ He called back as he ran, ducking and weaving between other bots that might be in the halls. He missed being able to run like this, and he'd really never done it just for fun. It made him laugh some more, and he would have been content to run all Cycle long. Maybe he would go out later, when he had some free time. It would certainly take care of some of his pent-up energy.

Ironhide loved the hunt, oh how he loved the thrill of hunting, chasing down a target. But in this case, his target was a dear friend and the inevitable conclusion of this pursuit was merely to tackle his friend and share a moment of absolute joy and peace together. <~"I catch ya, yer gonna have ta submit ta me, 'Cade."~> he chuckled over the closed com. A thought occurred to Ironhide then, and he wondered if Barricade would allow him to at least show him what he had spoke of earlier. Close friends sometimes shared a mutual interface for so many reasons, all of them good and never beyond what both sides would allow or were comfortable with, and even though Ironhide had taken the role as Barricade's instructor, he considered the young mech a close friend. Would it truly be wrong to offer such a thing to his friend? He set the thought aside for now, going straight into hunting mode as he chased Barricade through the training base. Everyone who knew Ironhide knew that if the burly mech was on your trail, you would never shake him, never out pace him, never lose him, and no matter how long it took, Ironhide would catch you and bring you down. Ironhide smiled as he chased Barricade down, and he had absolutely no intention of causing his friend any harm. He couldn't, his noble and honor bound Spark would never let him hurt his dear friend.

At the response over the closed comms, Barricade decided "to hell with getting energon!" He took a hallway that would lead them outside, putting on an extra burst of speed. If Ironhide truly was willing, it wasn't something he thought was inappropriate to the relationship, then Barricade would be open to it. <~"If you catch me."~> He replied. He knew Ironhide's tenacity in a hunt, but he also knew his own abilities to avoid capture, and was confident in them. The moment he was outside, he made a break for the more crowded areas, slowing his pace down to match other bots in the area. As much as he wanted to run, it would make him stand out, and he really wanted to make his teacher work for the catch.

Ironhide chuckled at Barricade's response and perused him outside, following doggedly. He knew how skilled Barricade was in evasion tactics, but he also was well aware of those tactics, having been the very mech who found and caught Barricade, then known as Runner, back on the brutal streets of Kaon. Ironhide was a true hunter, determined, tenacious, and unrelenting. It didn't take him long to sniff out Barricade's trail in the crowd and follow it, finally spotting the young mech and moving closer. He knew Barricade would likely spot him closing in, which was fine with Ironhide. When it came to the hunt, Barricade gave him what he truly wanted, a real challenge, even though he would inevitably win.
