Rper: Spinback
Character type: Permanent
Name: Tallulah Mitchell Graham
Nicknames: Mitch (what she prefers to be called; she hates her first name)
Sex/Gender Identity: Female
Age: 26
Alliance: None. She looks out for her own behind, and no-one else’s.
Job: Drifter with no real job, but she gets work where she can find it
Height: 5’5”
Weight: 132 lbs.
Personality: If you ask anyone who’s met her, they will tell you that Mitch is a liar, a cheat, a swindler and a stool pigeon. Share this with Mitch and she will tell you that they are probably right. Mitch is quick with a smile and a joke, but she is a very crafty, calculating individual. She does what she has to do to survive, and always has. The first thing she does when meeting someone else is carefully size them up in every way.
She is not unfriendly because of this--quite the opposite. She likes for people to be at ease around her, though more perceptive individuals can sense that Mitch might not always have their best interests in mind. She carries an aura around her commonly found in salesmen presiding over used car lots, as if she knows something about the world that the rest of the population isn’t in on. Still, she is usually relatively cheerful and kind around strangers. Getting her to behave this way sincerely is a task, though.
Mitch is very intelligent, and has lived by her wits since she was very young. She travels from place to place, getting what she needs with a quick scam, a called-in favor, or, on some occasions, a short spat of simple hard work. Because of this here-today-and-gone-tomorrow lifestyle, Mitch doesn’t have much in the way of friends, and honestly doesn’t seem to mind.
Mitch is intensely self-aware of her own personal weaknesses, which are primarily physical, and will not hesitate to lie, steal, or cheat her way out of a bad situation if she thinks she can get away with it. She doesn’t do well with authority, and has never had much in the way of any lasting superior, because she will not hesitate to rat out anyone who outranks her (these situations have mostly arisen during a brief involvement in a small organized crime ring, which has since been dissolved; nobody could pin anything on her, so this legacy only lives on in rumors and legends).
Mitch will also help others out--for a price. Her main motivation is not money, however. She prefers to be repaid in favors. At first this sounds innocuous enough, but many have found that a simple, “You’ll owe me one,” often manifests itself in a grinning visitor two years later. Mitch has a good memory, and will remember who owes her what and where they live. She always, always collects.
She is not exactly what one would call brave. She will not stand boldly in the face of danger, she will instead run and, if caught, desperately try to worm her way out of her unpleasant situation. Mitch is also quite selfish, preferring to look out for herself, and has never really made a friend that she cared for deeply enough to act on their behalf. She also has little care for strangers, or for long-term consequences. While aware of Cybertronians on Earth, she is not particularly worried by their presence unless it effects her. So far, it hasn’t.
Appearance: Luckily for her, Mitch has an honest face. She is a little on the pale side, with a smattering of nut-brown freckles over her nose and upper cheeks. Her hair is a very dark brown, in a medium-length (shortly above her shoulders) which is naturally a bit curly, but which she sometimes wears straight. Her eyes are brown. She is of average height and average size, being neither especially skinny nor especially curvy.
She is not particularly well-muscled, and is not physically imposing. She is quite adept at disguising herself, however; she can work wonders with a wig, some hair dye, and a bit of make-up (she usually only wears makeup as part of a disguise; when she’s just being herself, she is much too lazy to wear makeup). Mitch’s choice of clothing is often casual--jeans and a t-shirt--but she knows how to pull off a classy or glamorous look, should she need to.
Preferred Vehicle: Whatever she can get, and she has been forced to hastily change vehicles in the past to throw someone off her trail. These days she’s mostly keeping a low profile, and uses a car she acquired through legitimate means. It is an old 1983 Jeep Cherokee Chief, and Mitch received this ancient vehicle as payment for a job that she performed for a Chicago businessman. In one more year, it’ll be considered an antique, so Mitch makes a reasonable effort to keep it in good shape so that she can possibly sell it later.
For now, though, it is more or less her home. She’s spent more than one night sleeping in the back. She’s actually fond of the clunky thing and will often refer to it as “Chief” or “ol’ girl.”
Preferred Weapons: Mitch only carries weapons that she can use in terms of self-defense, though she does know how to use a gun (and performs best with 9mm pistols). Her reasoning is that carrying a gun or a knife could be very dangerous if said weapon falls into the wrong hands. Also, she feels that carrying a weapon like that will force the wielder to rely on it, which is something she doesn’t want to do. Relying on weapons and fancy technology too much can be a crutch; she prefers to rely on her mind.
Abilities: Mitch’s best asset is her cleverness and her turn of phrase. She gets out of trouble by talking her way out of it before things get serious--and by the time people start pointing fingers, she is gone. She is also decently skilled with technology. She is familiar with many different types, and can usually adapt quickly to technology she hasn’t encountered before.
She is a decent hacker, with a few nondescript (but highly illegal) devices that she carries with her to aid her on this. She is also very, very fast and agile. She is better at dodging attacks and breaking holds than she is actually fighting, but if she is involved in a scuffle, she fights dirty, often to great advantage.
Though not really an ability, she has a wide network of contacts who she can rely on for favors when she needs them. The most common phrase uttered by Mitch is, “Well, I know a guy…”
Strengths: Intelligent and adaptable. She thinks fast on her feet and is very good at acting. She is also pretty good at figuring out what it is people want to hear, and telling them exactly that. She speaks English and Spanish fluently.
Weaknesses: She’s not very physically strong, and prefers to flee instead of fight. Also, should someone high-profile enough decide to want to either take her out or force her allegiance, it wouldn’t be terribly hard to dig up too much unofficial dirt on her.
Family: None known alive; she doesn’t talk about them.
History: The thing about Mitch’s past is not that she won’t tell it to you. She often shares her past with strangers, and each time she tells it, it’s a different story, with a different twist, carefully crafted to suit her current situation. She has been quite successful at avoiding the law, and she doesn’t have much of a rap sheet. Official background checks will reveal only the barest amounts of information. There are urban legends that the astute can loosely connect with her, though it takes considerable digging and a lot of footwork.
She was born in Montana, and went to high school there. She was in college for two years, but dropped. Official records have no indication why, but at the time Mitch needed to get a full-time job to support her father. He died three years later, and Mitch struck out on her own. She’s been on the road ever since, looking out for herself and nobody else.
Her only criminal record is a parking ticket, which she took to court. She won the appeal.
Additional information:
-Mitch is inordinately fond of dogs, despite her rather practical attitude towards everything else. She is definitely a dog person.
-Mitch is extremely cagey and not inclined to form close bonds, but should she become involved romantically, she would be open to relationships with males or females. Species would also not concern her.
-She is currently teaching herself French with the aid of a series of language CDs and a boom box that she always keeps strapped into Chief’s front passenger seat. It’s sort of outdated, but it was cheap!
-Mitch knows a variety of sleight of hand tricks. This has helped her on the times when she’s needed to do a bit of street performing to make ends meet, and also when she needed to cleverly pick someone’s pocket.
