"It's hard to hear when you're at any distance, but when one holds still they can hear it as you are. It's a special moment that people often forget about." Keith replied, sinking into his chair contently. "And this is just day one," he added with cheer. "We have a lot of time together to work on your new aerial form and body. Tim's going to be excited to see you tomorrow." Keith knew Tim had enjoyed working on EDI, and he'd missed interacting with the AI since he had been considered 'offline'. He was oh so thankful he had been able to salvage his creation, he wanted EDI to have a good long life, and so he hoped that this time around EDI wouldn't have to make such another sacrifice again for a long while. He had a duty to fufill now. And Keith certainly wasn't going to design a new AI.

"I like the sound of your heart beat, father. It is soothing." EDI told his creator, happy to just be there resting against Keith's chest. He had no idea that such a simple thing as being held could truly feel so good. Now he understood why humans sought out such comfort with each other. "I remember Tim." EDI then responded softly. "The last time I saw him I seemed to make him nervous. Is he afraid of me? I would not hurt Tim, I like Tim. He was polite to me and he never hurt me." he said at length hoping Tim did not actually fear him. He certainly was nothing like those alien machines that were hurting and killing people.

"He wasn't afraid, he just didn't know you well. He was surprised you were learning so fast after you got hit by lightning. He wasn't afraid of your actual entirety." Keith explained, hoping EDI would understand since it seemed he remembered what had happened to him. "He enjoyed working on you when I wasn't around. It will be different this time though, we will be working at the same base of operations so when you are ready to go, you will see both of us regularly. We can spend more time with you as your learn new things." he smiled broadly at that idea, things he had in mind already floating about his imagination.

"I am glad. I like Tim." EDI went quiet for a little bit, thinking inwardly as Keith held him. When he finally spoke again he sounded uncertain and a little worried. "Father? Will I ever see Ben and Kara again? I miss flying with Talon Squadron. I miss my friends. Ben taught me, helped me understand what I did wrong. I... I should have listened to them... Henry would not have died if I had listened..." It was obvious he was sorry for what had happened, sorry that Henry had been killed. So many things would have been different had EDI listened to Ben and followed him instead of going off on his own the way he did.

"EDI, please don't dwell on the past too much. We all make mistakes, and we were all children who didn't know any better at one point." Keith assured EDI. "As for the squadron, I don't know EDI, they don't work for the same people we do, they're still with the NAVY. But I'm sure we could at least arrange a visit once you have your new body. Would you like that?" he suggested. He was glad to see EDI had taken a liking to his crew, it was disappointing that EDI couldn't work with Ben, as he knew that would have been most interesting for both of them. Maybe he could get them to join the POE as a side job, even if they stayed with the Navy. However a lot of time had passed, perhaps Kara and Ben had started to settle down. Who knew, maybe they were having too much fun with their careers right now - if that was the case, he understood that one.

EDI seemed to settle a bit, listening intently to what Keith said. The offer to see Ben and Kara again at the very least would have made EDI smile were he capable of it. "Yes, I would like that very much." he responded. "I would like to see them again. I would like to fly with them again. Ben and Kara and I, we would be three. Three is a Prime number, Prime numbers are lucky numbers. Henry would approve." he added in a hopeful tone, and though he knew Henry Purcell was gone, he hoped that somehow his lost squadron mate would forgive him.

"Yes, three is a good number. I hope you will be able to see them again soon, EDI. But I cannot guarantee as to how soon." Keith replied, crossing his legs for a moment as he sat there with EDI. He hugged him close, trying to reassure him. "But it is not impossible. I will see about contacting them soon." he said, though he knew it was best they wait until EDI was back to normal. He too liked those three, they had been a team well suitable for EDI, and he was dissappointed they probably had other duties and couldn't join the POE's cause with them.

EDI's sphere hummed softly as Keith hugged him, grateful for the contact and affection from his creator. It felt good knowing Keith really did care for him and wanted him to be happy, and EDI wanted to stay with his creator and protect him from the threat of the alien machines. He regarded Keith thoughtfully for a moment, remembering the last time he had seen his creator. Keith had granted one request EDI had asked of him, and EDI felt certain Keith would grant this second one when the time came. "Father, when my body is completed, will you fly with me like Ben did in Alaska?" he asked softly. He had wanted Keith to fly away with him, but there was no room for two in EDI's cockpit and he and Ben had a mission to complete, they had to rescue Kara from the North Koreans. But now, there was no urgent mission, at least not yet, and EDI wanted to stay with his creator for as long as possible.

"I would love to, EDI, because of course, I didn't have a chance to before. But hopefully I will get a chance to as soon as you are built before I let you track Cybertronains." Keith replied, smiling at the thought. "But of course, I would have to get a flight suit and helmet purchased soon, that way I wouldn't limit your performance with my body's limitations. That weekend won't be hard to arrange." He wished he had flown with EDI the first time he had built him, but the Navy had wanted him right away, well, this time, the POE would have to wait just a little bit. They could wait at least just a couple hours. That way Keith could properly test EDI in his natural environment as well. So there was definitely an upside in doing that this time.

EDI seemed to hum contentedly in response to Keith's answer. "I would like that very much." he replied, his tone soft. He now had a very special moment to look forward to once his new air frame was complete. He still did not like the idea of leaving his creator, but if Keith could stall them for as long as possible, then perhaps they could get to spend real quality time together for a while at least. That was EDI's hope anyway. "I would not want to only fly with you once, father. I want to stay with you, I want to fly with you always. I would not like to be taken away by strange people again. I did not like it when they took me away before." he admitted, sounding a bit apologetic.

"All though I can garantee you multiple flights, I have to confess that I am building you for others' interests as well, we need you to protect us from these aliens that have begun to inhabit our planet. Many of us don't want them here. You are certainly powerful enough to stop them and you have the gift of flight on your side. And furthermore you will have a new secondary form to allow you to fight on the ground. We need you for that too EDI, we need you to protect us. That is what I designed you for after all. I wanted to share you with the world, EDI. Again, I can assure you we will get to fly frequently." Keith explained, hoping EDI would understand. He had not seen what the Cybertronians looked like, but he would soon enough.

EDI seemed to understand Keith's reasoning, where his father and the other humans could not defend themselves, EDI could protect them. "I understand, father." he offered softly, though he still did not like the idea of leaving Keith's side, leaving him unprotected. "Will you go with me?" he asked then, hoping they would not be separated even as EDI was sent to whatever base or aircraft carrier he would be stationed at. He could only hope that this time Keith would go with him instead of staying so far away, so far out of reach where EDI couldn't protect him.

"This time I will always be in contact range and will be stationed wherever you are, I made sure they let me do that. That way Tim and I can always be the ones who keep tabs on your maintenance and learning progress." Keith replied. "In due time I will teach you about our enemies." he hugged him briefly then, in more assurance and hope. "But for now, I must finish the skematics on your robotic form before I start designing it on the computer."

EDI was sincerely glad that Keith had made certain they could stay together and he easily welcomed the hug from his father and creator. "Thank you, father." he murmured softly, his optical orbits dimming slightly in contentment. "I look forward to seeing my new body you are creating for me, father." he offered sincerely, growing more and more comfortable with calling Keith his father, it simply felt right to him to do so. He then began thinking over some of the things they had talked about. For now he was content that he and Keith would not be separated any time soon, which made EDI a very happy AI indeed.

"If you would like, you can watch my computer screen. But that would require me to put you back on your station." Keith offered, gently patting the top of the sphere before he began to lift EDI up carefully. He decided he would fix up the sketches a bit then work on putting them onto the computer. He was getting excited now, because he could talk to EDI a bit as he worked, though he would likely fall silent periodically as he tried to set the blueprints right.
