"I would like that, father." he replied easily, accepting that Keith would need both his hands free to work. EDI was always logical and practical minded, so he did not mind that Keith set him back on the diagnostic cradle, though he did briefly lament the cold feeling of no longer being cradled in his creator's arms. All he could do was watch for now, and talk to his creator, which really was what EDI wanted in the first place, to simply be with Keith. His thoughts drifted a bit as he thought of his squadron mates, Ben Gannon and Kara Wade, and all he could do was hope that when he was able to fly that he could find them quickly. He missed flying with them, though he still felt remorse over Henry Purcell's death. With the diagnostics station open, Keith could see EDI's thought processes, as well as the other things Keith was working on, so it was no mystery to him what EDI was thinking about; wondering where Ben and Kara were, remorse over Henry's death, wanting to stay with Keith and protect his creator, and fear of the alien machines that had invaded Earth, not for his own sake, but for the four humans he cared for Keith, Ben, Kara, and Tim. EDI was afraid of losing them and that fear played in his thoughts whenever the alien machines came up in his mind. But there was one fear that overrode all other considerations, and that was lightning. EDI was utterly terrified of it, and after what had happened to him on his first mission, that fear was not all that surprising.

Keith remained at the computer for hours, only to get up for a snack or to listen to use the restroom. As time droned on, he would share music with EDI, much of which EDI had already heard at some point before his accident. He would bring food to the table as he worked to save time and talk to EDI a little. "It'll be great to get you a robotic form, looking forward to that." he said mostly to himself excitedly as the progress of the blueprints continued. He surveyed EDIs thought processes periodically, intrigued yet saddened when he noticed he was recalling his teammates and Henry's death. At least it was no lie that he missed them and was experiencing remorse.
"Almost done, perhaps we can watch a movie or watch some youtube videos together?" Keith offered. "What do you think of the near final steps of the blueprints?" he added, showing different views of his transformation sequences and specs of the two legged robotic form, which would have a wheelbase remaining intact (similar to KARRs). The wheels would not completely limit his mobility regardless.

EDI hummed softly as he watched Keith work, responding to questions and comments from his creator, and very much enjoying the music they were listening to. "I look forward to my new air frame as well. I hope it will withstand the alien machines so I can protect you from them." There was a note of concern in his otherwise soft yet neutral voice. He looked at the designs and if he could smile he would. "It looks effective." he replied, then added, "Yes, I think I would enjoy watching a movie with you." In truth, EDI would enjoy doing just about anything with Keith, just as long as they were together and EDI could protect his creator from the aliens he feared would hurt his father and friends.

"Well, what kind of movie would you like to watch? I'll let you pick." Keith said, glad he had big screens to watch movies from as well as a nice sound system that would convince him to not go out to the movies near as much as a 'normal' person would. He wished he had done this with EDI before the accident...but at least now he could make up for it. Pride swelled in him then. EDI was HIS creation and he had every right to take time to socialize with him because it would help him learn and build faith in his creator. Faith and trust. Those were very important things.

EDI pondered the question for a few moments. He knew well what he liked, he liked to fly. He was designed as a war plane meant to protect humans from the enemy, though whom that enemy might be was often up for debate. "Flying. A movie with flying and fighting. I think I would like that. Something good. Something to give hope that we are the good guys and that we will win against the alien invaders." he suggested, though he had no idea what sorts of movies would fit such a description. He had never really watched movies, only downloaded and listened to music, any and all music he could find.

Keith thought of a few aviation related movies that popped into his mind which were classics. The three that he thought of almost instantly were Memphis Belle, The Aviator, and Top Gun. The first and the third were definitely good war movies. Keith particularly appreciated Memphis Belle because it reflected the old times, a history of war and aviation he hadn't been born yet to experience. "I think we should start with Memphis Belle. Good history education as well as a war movie. I'm sure you'll find some things in it to appreciate. For an older movie, it's very well done. Then maybe we can watch some newer movies. I suggest we watch Top Gun after that, that's more connected to my history and it has a lot of dog fights and situations that you could relate to. Memphis Belle is a must, I insist. It's about the old B-17 bombers. The story retells old war time history during World War II of a bomber's 25th and final mission in Germany in 1943 - a record at the time for such a plane, and it was made in the 1990's. It's got good ratings." Keith then promptly pulled up a review for the movie online on one of the secondary computers he used during break time for EDI to see. "I really think you'll appreciate it."

EDI listened carefully to Keith's suggestions, then browsed the review he brought up thoughtfully. "It seems like a very good choice. I would like to watch it with you. Then we can watch Top Gun and any others you feel would be a good education for me to observe." he offered in response. "I would also like to discuss them with you afterwards if that is alright. I would like to understand them as you do." he added softly, his optical orbits rimmed in blue as he regarded his creator. There was so much more EDI was getting to do with Keith now than he was ever able to do before, and he found he very much liked spending such quality time with Keith talking about things and watching movies or listening to his collection of music he had gathered. "Will you hold me while we watch them?" he asked softly, an almost shy tone in his voice. He was still so child like, yet so very intelligent and far beyond the intellect of a child. EDI simply needed his creator's comfort and gentle hand, like any child needed their father. And EDI was beginning to understand some of the strange feelings he had towards Keith, as well as towards his squadron mates, Ben, Kara, and Henry. To EDI, they were family, and while he had lost one brother to a mistake, he still had a brother and a sister out there somewhere, probably waiting for him, needing him. All he could do was hope they would accept and welcome him back.

"Certainly, EDI." Keith replied. He didn't have to get up to get any of the movies because they were either all in a CD album on his big desk or were on his computer. He flipped through the album and put in the disc for Memphis Belle, making sure his speakers were fully operational and at a good balance. Bass wouldn't be needed much, but good surround sound was still important. "You are my son even though you are not of flesh and blood." he said as he picked him up out of his platform again. He was also implying that he was being very clear about wanting to make up for the lost time and fixing that in the present.

If EDI could smile, he would. "Thank you, father." he offered as Keith picked him up. EDI was a very happy AI now; he was with his creator and very much enjoying their time together. He knew Keith would teach him well and never lie to him, something EDI was grateful for. If there was one thing that made the AI angry fast, it was being lied to or deceived. There were three that EDI knew wouldn't lie to him, and the other two were Ben and Kara. As he settled in Keith's arms to watch the movie, he came to realize that he really did love his father, that he would do anything to protect Keith, and if those alien machine invaders ever dared to hurt Keith, EDI would stop at nothing to destroy them all, even if he had to sacrifice himself to do it. EDI was nothing if not determined and very protective of Keith.

"Any time, EDI." Keith replied with a smile and got comfortable in his chair with EDI's AI sphere. This film was definitely a classic as far as aviation was concerned. It did have some battle scenes which EDI could appreciate but there were other things he could appreciate too...such as the logistics behind coordinating a team of pilots and specialists in various fields to go on a bomb run halfway around the globe from home. Young men were in this movie which were participating in the bomb run told, men as young as 20 or even younger than that! "These men that do the mission are young, just like you." he added in excitement when the movie started introducing the boys on the team.

EDI watched the movie with great interest, learning what he could from it, seeing just how young they are. With confirmation from Keith about how young they were, EDI felt a bit better about his coming missions against the alien machines. He watched very carefully, hoping to learn, both from the men's successes and their mistakes, hoping to increase his chances of survival against the alien enemies. His AI sphere hummed softly as he took in all the information he could, processing and analyzing as much information as he could glean from the movie his father had chosen to share with EDI.

Keith hadn't seen this movie in a fair while, so he was glad to have a chance to watch it again. Same with most of the other he'd mentioned, he rarely sat down and watched one or two movies back to back. He wondered what EDI would think of Top Gun. Keith was almost completely still as the movie played. Neither movies were very comedic all though they each had their own little amusing moments.
He liked the curious, ever-learning part about EDI's personality.
((sorry its lame, couldn't think of much to elaborate on))

After the second movie had played through, EDI remained quiet and thoughtful as he processed the information. The movie Top Gun struck EDI especially hard when Goose was killed and the anguish Maverick felt over the death of his partner. But, EDI was very glad to see that the rivalry between Maverick and Iceman resolved itself into mutual respect, friendship, and understanding, like true wing mates, flying brothers. It was EDI's hope that such would be the case between himself and Ben when they were reunited. "Father, I understand Maverick, he is like me. He was arrogant and brash, defied orders, and he lost a friend, an accident. It changed him, made him understand. I think I understand better now. Thank you, father." he offered, his tone soft and thoughtful as he spoke.

Keith couldn't help but smile when EDI said that. He seemed right about that, because he certainly agreed with it. "I can see why you would say that. Maverick definitely learns a lot throughout the movie. It's fun watching the characters grow in various ways. And you're welcome. In the note of growth, it's also fun watching you grow, including your time before when I say that." he replied, consistently perking up when the action scenes occurred. He was a sucker for action scenes, especially aviation ones. He liked aviation things in general, mainly because EDI inspired him so much.

EDI hummed softly in Keith's arms as he considered his creator's words. "I have tried to learn all that I can, father. Are you proud of what I have become? I noticed your reaction when you learned I had developed feelings. When I saw you in Alaska, I knew what you were there to do, they told you to erase all that I had become, but when I expressed... feeling... you hesitated, your voice and posture changed then, and you grew violently protective of me when that other man tried to force you to erase me." EDI had clearly observed the confrontation and was well aware that Keith's intention was to delete all of EDI's higher functions, all that he had learned and become, he could see the computer screen after all. But EDI was not mad at Keith, he had been remorseful, sorry for what he had done and understood the consequences of his actions. One thing EDI knew was that some actions required the death penalty, and EDI had killed others needlessly, including one of his own squad mates.
