December 22, 6:17 PM, Somewhere in ColoradoIf anyone were walking by the parking garage outside of the Promenade Mall, they would have heard something very unusual echoing faintly through the largely empty concrete structure. The music was actually being played live a few miles away in a local music hall. The band was a particularly dedicated group of musicians that had decided that they would play, inclement weather or no, and their performance was being streamed live over the internet as well as on a local public-access channel. The live HQ feed was also being tapped into by a certain car parked on the lowest level of the Promenade Mall Parking Garage. Blindspot was no hacker, but it hadn’t been difficult to access the feed with his communication equipment. Now the sprightly piano introduction to the Twin River Swing Band’s rendition of Fats Waller’s “Ain’t Misbehavin” was playing over his speakers, echoing nicely all around him. It was not a normal practice of Decepticons to take advantage of a parking garage’s unusual acoustics to amuse themselves. How the drone had come to be here, alone, was an interesting story in itself. The truth was that Blindspot couldn’t drive in the ice. He absolutely, positively couldn’t manage it. It was terribly embarrassing. He did not know why he was being sent out on so many long-distance missions, but he frankly didn’t mind. He had seen a lot in his travels, and had been given even more things to think about. He was heading north now, on a trip that took him through the state of Colorado. He didn’t know much about the state, and had not been prepared to deal with winter weather conditions after having spent most of his time in sunny Texas. He had been caught in a surprise snowfall. At first the drone had figured it was no big deal, but as the precipitation continued to build, he found himself sliding and skidding in almost alarming fashion. He didn’t know if it had to do with the configuration of his wheels, the build of his alt-mode, or just some innate ungainliness, but he couldn’t drive on ice. He just couldn’t. With no other choice, he’d managed to work his way to the garage, which was, at least, sheltered from the snow. The local news station had said that the roads would be clear by the morning. All he had to do was bunker down, settle in for a nice recharge, and let the humans do the work. Piece of cake. Except that a largely empty parking garage was quite boring, and he wasn’t tired. So, after about fifteen minutes of flicking through radio stations, he had stumbled across the concert, and had decided to test out the interesting echoing quality of the structure he had found himself in. How strange and interesting! And this was why, at six-thirty in the evening, a seemingly-empty parking lot was sending echoes of ragtime jazz into the streets. The mall was shockingly empty of last-minute Christmas shoppers. Only a select few pedestrians were trickling in and out of the mall, and none of them were paying too much attention to the music. A few curious teenagers peered into the garage, but most of the younger folk were busy making the most of the snow, and belting each other with snowballs. Blindspot was unconcerned. He was enjoying the acoustics of his hideout. ((lemme know if you need anything tweaked, Tundra!)

Though it was getting down to the evening and several last minute shoppers were now winding down to just a handful at a time one teenager was enjoying some free time around the mall. She wasn't exactly one to hang around it on a daily basis and with this time of year it was normally packed, but with things settling down Rin had decided to take a time to just enjoy the winter season, faintly hearing music playing and thought it was quite relaxing. After having walked around the mall for some time however she thought it might be a good time to just take a walk outside, it seemed by now the snow had stopped falling at last so might as well.
Stepping out to the darkening area she breathed in the cold air, being one of the people who actually quite enjoyed cold weather and the snow. Though not everyone did, especially when it came to ice, though seeing people slipping and sliding was always amusing sometimes. Chuckling at the though Rin beganto head towards the parking lot toward her car but something did catch her attention, the same band's music playing that was going on at the mall which made her slightly curious. By now the parking garage had to be empty, the parking lot itself hardly seemed to have anyone which made her slightly curious. Leaving her car for now she carefully made her way towards the sound of the music that seemed to be more of echoing then actually playing, though some teens playing in the snow just seemed to be ignoring it. Ignoring them she continued on inside the parking garage, shakingthe snow off from her coat.
Of course Rin wasn't too bundled up, even for a day like this. She pretty much wore long black Jean pants, a black fleece jacket with fake fur around the collar and arm cuffs, winter boots, and a scarf loosely hanging around her neck, and a plain red-violet t-shirt beneath her jacket. Though she really wasn't focused onthe cold but more so on the echoing music, following towards the source and listening to where it was the loudest. Eventually she did figure out it lead to a rather nice looking sports car and they were playing their speakers quite loud enough. Though she decided to mice closer carefully, not knowing who was inside or what they might be doing there,"Uh hello?" She called over the music, pausing when close enough though still seemed a bit wary to move closer.
Though one thing Rin failed to realize was the faint Cybertronian signal she gave off due to her cybertronian half and unfortunately she had failed to ever learn to hide it. Mostly due to the fact she hadn't been around the Autobots nor met many Cybertronians, though she did plan to visit the NEST base soon enough and hopefully learn more from them.

Blindspot had been concentrating on the music, letting his mind drift, hovering on the edge of recharge, when the girl’s voice broke his reverie. Immediately he was on alert again. He had his windows down to let the sound of the music out into the garage around him, and he half-rolled them up reflexively, before he realized that he was being approached by some human pup. Oh. Well.
He let the broadcast continue to play. The song was ending, and the audience’s applause now echoed through the parking garage around them. What did this girl want? Was she just curious about the lone car playing music? It was his luck that he happened to run into the one human--wait.
Wait.
Blindspot focused his sensors on her, picking up the telltale sign of a Cybertronian signature. But this was a human! How could she possibly be generating such a signal? Blindspot was silent as he contemplated this, baffled. Could she have Cybertronian tech on her, somehow? That had to be the answer. If she had tech, then she must have gotten it from someone. It was safe to bet that this girl either knew a Cybertronian, or was in contact with someone who did. That must be why she could tell what he was. Maybe the device she had with her was some kind of scanner!
Blindspot cut his music off. He didn’t need anyone else wandering in here while he got to the bottom of this. “What do you want, human?” He asked frankly, his rasping voice magnified by the empty air around him. “How are you able to detect what I am?”

Rin waited for some reaction, but the car continued to play music until the band had finished and she heard the applause from the crowd. For a moment she wondered if the driver had heard her at all over the loud echoing sounds, but the voice that replied made her raise her eye brows in surprise. It wasn't a regular car it was another cybertronian! It was also the second one she would have likely met in person, though she would have to be cautious since she wasn't sure if they were hostile or not.
Though his last question made her chuckle a little,"Actually I didn't realize you were a cybertronian actually and the music echoing in here would bring anyone curious enough to check it out, and of course I just answered both your questions there." She said as she moved closer but still kept a good three feet between them. "Though what makes you ask?" She inquired, wondering what he meant by detecting him, when she hadn't known at all what he was until this mech had spoken up.

Blindspot’s engine had been idling softly, its ever-present rattle reduced to near inaudibility by his calm. As the girl drew closer, he tensed, and the rumble and rattle under his hood grew in volume as he prepared to move. It wasn’t that he was afraid of the girl, but he was wary. He had no idea what sort of device she was packing. Aside from that, he found her proximity upsetting. She was dangerously close to putting her disgusting, wormy fingers on him.
He decided not to acknowledge the fact that he had just given himself away. Whoops. “You are emitting a Cybertronian signal. That is only possible if you have some manner of Cybertronian technology on you. What is it? What do you intend to do with it?” His tone wasn’t necessarily hostile, but the drone was clearly on his guard. He rolled backward slightly, inching away from her.
He honestly didn’t think this small human girl presented much of a threat, but he had to be prepared for any possibility. He wouldn’t put it past the humans to send a mere pup to do their dirty work.

Watching him inch back from her, looking actually rather tense at the short distance between them she merely slowly moved closer as he moved back, though she paused when he mentioned the Cybertronian technology. He had more then likely detected the signal she was giving off."Actually I wouldn't say I am carrying the tehcnology on me but more of inside of me, it's a little hard to explain." She said and rubbed the back of her neck, trying to think of how she could explain of being half human and half Cybertronian, but also if that would be a good idea to reveal a heritage she hardly knew herself thus the reason for lack of hiding her own signal.
Though also being in a public place anyone could come in and find out, and the last thing she wanted was to be labeled some kind of freak by the pedestrians around here. Rin herself seemed to be a little wary now and stopped where she was, what if this Cybertronian took advantage of a techno organic and was an enemy to the faction she was pretty much born to? That's if she did join the Autobots but none the less she wouldn't be a Decepticon either."To actually prove that I'd have to show you." She said but seemed quite weary towards this bot now herself.

The closer Rin moved to him, the more Blindspot backed away. No doubt his commanders would have laughed at him for exercising such caution around a child, but he was a mere drone with absolutely no backup. He couldn’t afford to be too careful. Then the girl went to make strange claims about the technology being inside of her.
What?
“Did you swallow it?” He asked doubtfully. “I… that isn’t safe, little human pup.” She might be human, and she might be making him nervous, but she was still a child, and Blindspot had no desire to see children harmed, regardless of species. “If Cybertronian technology has been embedded in you somehow, you should see a human physician. Strange things happen when humans and Cybertronians come together.” Blindspot didn’t know the half of it.
It was difficult to read body language in a car, but he seemed just as nervous of her as she was of him. He didn’t ask her to prove what she claimed, because he had absolutely no idea how she would do so, and he wasn’t sure he wanted to be nearby when she did.

Rin looked at him saw no other way to explain it clearly, least to where this cybertronian would understand of what she was. Instead she would show him, even though it would more then likely freak him out. Giving a nervous glance around the parking garage, making absolutely sure no curious human was peeking inside she looked back at Blindspot before closing her eyes, taking a deep breath and letting her body begin to shift in places to reveal silver armor of a cybertronian body 7 feet tall, showing a alternate form of a motorcycle.
Overall Rin’s cybertronian form was sleek and slender, built for high speeds and lean enough she could be flexible in the form. Looking up slightly at Blindspot her optics were hidden behind a dark blue visor, her head design resembling something close to her father sideswipe. “This is what I meant, I’m half cybertronian due to a project by the Autobots at their base. It’s a thing they were trying for a hybrid.”She explained nervously, tapping her index fingers together and awaiting his reaction.

Blindspot reacted before Rin had even finished transforming. The moment the human girl (or what he thought was a human girl) started to change, he jerked, startled, and as she continued to shift, he backed up in sudden terror, his tires squealing, rubber burning. He rammed loudly and painfully into a support pillar behind him.
Clearly he had not taken it well.
Ignoring the dull throb of pain from his crumpled back end (oh, that was going to be fun to explain once he got back to base) he stared in a mixture of awe and horror at Rin Valiere. “I…” He couldn’t muster the proper words to express his utter shock. “You…” He was so startled that he didn’t pull away from where he’d hit the pillar. He just sat there, stunned.
An Autobot experiment? He knew that his commanders were responsible for some… oddities (particularly the great scientist Shockwave; Blindspot looked up to him despite his apparent lack of any sort of morality whatsoever), but he had never imagined they’d do something this disgusting, this unnatural. “They were… crossbreeding Cybertronians?” Horror was evident in the soft rasp of his voice.

Rin winced when he crashed, looking at Blindspot as she heard the utter horror in his raspy voice, guessing this was coming as more of a shock then anything to him. Well there had just been no other way then to show him, but his little freak out over it was something she had not anticipated at all. Was it really that shocking? "Yes I'm called a techno organic, a combination of human DNA and er Cybertronian DNA if that's what your kind have. So pretty much something like that."
Whether or not it was that surprising Rin quickly converted back to her human form, flexing a few places before she quickly came closer to Blindspot with concern. The sudden crash seemed to do quite a number on his back end and she was surprised he wasn't in severe pain,"Are you alright though? It looks like that would really hurt."She asid with concern.

“That’s…” That was an absolute abomination. Blindspot’s tanks roiled in disgust. He couldn’t imagine touching a human, let alone… eurgh, he didn’t want to think about the sort of thing involved in the production of a Techno Organic. Blindspot was beyond words. He was too shocked by this revelation, too appalled. Is this what Autobots did to their prisoners? Forced them to make these… these half-human crimes against nature?
Primus. How could they live with themselves?
And then the abomination shifted back and approached him with concern on her face. She asked him if he was okay. Blindspot stared at her for a moment, caught between his disgust and his surprise at her obviously sincere concern for his well-being. “I… it’s nothing.” He pulled away from the wall slightly. “I have definitely endured worse.” Sometimes even at his own hand, through his self-experiments.
“It is mainly my, er, my pride that is damaged.” He turned to regard her again. “So… if I may ask--and you really shouldn’t be surprised that I am curious after showing me that--how did you… how were you manufactured?

Rin looked at him as he seemed to be holding up just find, though he still seemed in shock at the fact she even existed,"Er well...I was created from a test tube, if that makes any sense to you. But it's not exactly an experiment more of trying to bring a close bond between humans and the Autobots, or cybertronians in general, something along those lines from what my adoptive family told me." She explained to him, feeling a little awkward in having to explain her creation to the drone.
"BUt uh what about you? Are you a bot or the enemy, Decepti...whatever it is the other faction is called?"She asked him trying to change the subject. The last thing she wanted was to be explaining exactly how she would have been created naturally but she didn't know how this giant robot would take to knowing how human reproduction was done.

Blindspot listened carefully as Rin began to explain herself. It was quite interesting, and when she admitted that she had not been conceived through… traditional human means, Blindspot’s curiosity piqued even more. She had been created artificially. Like him.
Huh.
It also seemed that she had been created with a specific purpose in mind, and when he heard it, Blindspot recoiled in revulsion. It wasn’t that he objected to the creation of an individual with an intended function. After all, he had been created with a purpose, but it was one thing to make a drone, and another entirely to make a child. For all their pompous preaching about freedom, it seemed the Autobots were more like their enemies than they liked to believe.
He didn’t air his grievances, though; this was still just a child, after all. Rin’s decision to change the subject was wise. Blindspot knew a little about human reproduction in that it was messy and ridiculous, but he was not interested in the particulars. “I am a Decepticon,” he said slowly, carefully. If this was allied with the Autobots, there was a chance that she could call them, perhaps send them after him, Blindspot’s only real advantages in any fight were his speed and maneuverability, and in these weather conditions, he could rely on neither.
He watched her warily. “I have no desire to hurt you, pup. I have no desire to hurt any sparkling, but I will not just stand by if you call your allies in. I will defend myself.” This was a bluff, of course. If things got hairy, he would still try and run, ice or no ice.

Rin looked at Blindspot as she couldn’t help chuckling,”Well my Decepticon acquaintance if it’s any reassurance I wouldn’t be able even call them since I have no idea the number to any frequency channels nor to the main base. Besides if you did want to hurt me you would have already.” She reasoned, though he seemed like one of few Decepticons who wasn’t so quick to react to the thought of a techno organic or a possible enemy. And he had a right to defend himself if he didn’t cause anything in the first place.
Though she tried to move on then the subject of worrying about a fight,”Think names might help us by the way, my name is Rin Valliere.” She added with a kind smile, though wondered if he would only stick to calling her pup. If he did then she would likely end up having to keep correcting him unless he was also stubborn.

This new information startled Blindspot even more. “Wait--they created you and then they abandoned you?” He was horrified. Even if the experiment that had spawned Rin had turned out to be a failure, nobody deserved to be cast aside like that. “That is…” Why should he be surprised that the Autobots would do something like that? Awful hypocrites, the lot of them! “That is awful.”
Blindspot hesitated as she introduced herself. “Well, Miss Rin, I do not think it would be… particularly harmful for me to share my designation with you.” He relaxed slightly. It was visible in the way he settled on his tires. “I am called Blindspot. So what do you want from me? As you can see, I have taken residence in this structure for the night, but I do not mean it any harm.” He paused and rolled forward a bit, swiveling to bring the column he’d collided with into his peripheral vision. “Er. More harm.” Though, frankly, his backside had taken the brunt of the damage.
He noticed, mournfully, that his spoiler was bent out of shape. Pit. He liked his spoiler.
