Ironhide looked at Sideswipe then, venting softly. "Ya saw that huh?" he replied, then nodded. "If it's from yer Spark, if she is yer One, then I ain't gonna stop ya. Just make slaggin' sure that that's really what it is ya feel, n dun ya dare hurt her. She dun understand any of it right now, she's too young ta know what she's feelin' but ya do, yer old enough ta know n understand, so ya gotta be the one ta look out fer her, both physically and fer her Spark. Treat her delicately, Sides, dun start nothin' til ya know fer sure cause she won't understand why ya drew her in n then pushed her away if ya find out it weren't real." he warned carefully. "I dun want ya ta pull away from what yer Spark cries out fer, I want ya ta hold onta it tight n dun let go. Ya dun want the pain o' losin' that... believe me..." He then brought his other arm over and gently hugged Sideswipe. "Yer too young ta be alone fer the rest o' yer life, n I wanna see you n yer brother happy. N I wanna see her happy too... ya all deserve ta be happy..." he offered softly, like a father to his son, like he used to talk with Sideswipe and Sunstreaker when they were still very young.

Sideswipe nodded knowing it had been a bad timing for liking Speed Demon when she was so young and could be mislead if she wasn't careful. Though he knew better,"Ironhide I'm not trying to hurt her and I am willing to wait because for some reason I do feel something towards her, just my spark feels drawn to her and it happened all of a sudden. But first one thing at a time, got to straighten my addiction out and get back on track." He said knowing there was a few things to do and some time to wait before he would consider approaching Speed Demon about something like that. "And I do hope Sunstreaker can find someone, someone who'll help him and make him happy. I'm always worried for him no matter what." He said still worried now.

Ironhide nodded at that and tightened the hug a bit. "Ya got a good processor under all that silver plating, n a good Spark too. I'm glad I didn't fail ya n could raise both o' ya right." he said, then settled back quietly with Sideswipe leaning against him. He was content to just sit there with his friend, protege, and adoptive son, knowing things would work out alright as long as Sideswipe steered clear of the high grade. "Guess I oughta talk t' yer brother one o' these days then, huh?" he offered with a light chuckle, though he didn't really expect an answer to that. He would check on the young twin though, just to see how he was doing and to make sure he was at least happy.

Sideswipe smiled a bit,”Hey I may be reckless sometimes and my ego may come up now and again but least there is some smarts in this processor.”He said jokingly though also knew there was truth in it as well. Yes he could be a little over the top on things, a show off even, but he knew how to use his processor and his skills showed it too, plus all that he had learned over the several years helped him continue that learning process in his function. “Yea you should, he got here not too long ago ‘Hide and I’m sure he’d love to see you.”He said with a smile.

Ironhide nodded. "I ain't had much time ta see 'im since he got here, been so slaggin' busy with everything else..." He shook his head then and vented a sigh, idly rubbing Sideswipe's chest. "I wanna see 'im, but I'm not so sure he wants ta see me..." he muttered then, remembering the arguments they had in the past, more often than the ones he had with Sideswipe which had brought up accusations of favouritism at least twice, which Ironhide hotly denied. He loved them both, it was just Sunstreaker's attitude rubbed him wrong more easily when the twins were younger. Never mind the fact that others saw Sideswipe as Ironhide's real protege and considered Sunstreaker the useless screw up more often than not. Ironhide had heard the others talk about it often enough he actually blew up at them, telling them that Sunstreaker was every bit as skilled as his brother and that the pair of them would succeed him together. Of course the hot headed young mech hadn't actually heard him say that, neither of them had, though as far as Ironhide was concerned it was absolutely true. He loved them both and would never chose between them no matter how big of a fight he had with either of them.
The brothers complimented each other perfectly whether on the practice range, open combat, or when the pair got into one of their prankster modes. It had always reminded him of how he and his own older brother were long ago and he had emphasized that the two stay together and stand as one. The fact they were literal identical twins certainly helped with that view, and Ironhide was not about to see them separated and had expressed his grievances when Optimus sent them on separate missions away from each other. Optimus told him that he did so in order to ensure they would focus on the mission and not each other or their pranks, but Ironhide had literally argued with Optimus that the twins must never be separated like that, that they worked best together. The argument had nearly come to blows when Ratchet came in and pulled Ironhide away to calm him down, one of their especially violent nights in the berth before their attempt to bond had forced Ironhide and Ratchet to end the intimate relationship they had, going back to being close friends or brothers like they were before the war.
Ironhide vented a sigh trying to relax and push the old memories away for now and just sit with the silver mech trying to keep from either of them getting riled up. He had no idea if either of them ever heard about his blow ups in their defense, particularly when Sunstreaker was degraded as a worthless goof off looking to get himself or his team mates killed. When it came down to it, Ironhide loved them both like they were his own and he would not stand for anyone talking slag behind their backs. And sometimes, his arguments with Sunstreaker were simply the way they communicated, and when it came to certain things, Ironhide typically won those fights, even though Sunstreaker would never admit it and Ironhide wouldn't bring it up. Sunstreaker may have ego and vanity to spare, but when it came down to it, there were few mechs Ironhide wanted backing him up in a hard fight, and the twin brothers were two of them.

Sideswipe was aware of some of the things said behind their backs, especially about his brother which always infuriated the silver mech when hearing his brother being thought nothing more then a egotistical goof off. In reality there were things his twin could do something where Sideswipe wasn't able and likely vice versa, honestly he thought Sunstreaker could be a better fighter then him despite Sideswipe going around the universe to learn different styles. But the accusations just weren't right,"Sure he'd love to talk to you Ironhide, know you two always fight but you get along as well." Side swipe assured his mentor before looking at the burly mech thoughtfully.
"Also thanks for always defending us 'Hide, especially Sunstreaker. My bro may seem egotistical and all but he's he'll of a warrior and I have to admit might be damn better then I am most of the time, wouldn't want anyone else to replace I will say that." He said though wondered if his twin knew Ironhide did care for them more then they had thought before, in fact the mech practically raised them. "We wouldn't be here today or who we are without you 'Hide." Sideswipe said.

Ironhide looked down at Sideswipe for a moment, then offered a smile and hugged him, pulling the younger mech close enough to lightly touch his forehead to Sideswipe's. "I love ya both, ya know that. N I ain't about ta let them degrade either o' my boys. I got irate when Prime separated ya, n even with yer pranks n ego trips, yer both top fighters n the only mechs I'd chose ta take my place as Weapons Specialists n Prime's bodyguards when my Spark goes out." he said softly and sincerely. He hated the thought of dying and leaving those he loved behind, but he knew that such would happen one day. As old as Ironhide was, he was well aware of his own mortality, especially after the close calls he had, particularly the one accident that came terrifyingly close to actually killing him, the one that left the jagged scar on his chest and the matching one on his laser core. "They'll see the truth o' the pair o' ya, I'll make sure o' that 'fore I die." he said in a low but determined tone.

Sideswipe turned a bit more to Ironhide, hugging him tightly as he rested his forehead against the larger mech's, knowing he meant every word."We won't let you down Ironhide I promise you that, and we'll show the others we're not as egotistical and goof offs as we use to be." He assured him knowing they weren't like anything when they were a lot younger, no it had been years since then. He could see there was a change in both of them with the years that had passed and Sideswipe was sure next to being pranksters they would also be a serious duo. They always had, always will.

Ironhide nodded slightly and just held his adopted son quietly for a while, grateful that he actually had someone to take up his own legacy and carry on in his name and honor one day. He then thought of another mech he loved, not as young as Sideswipe and Sunstreaker, and he wondered if his love for the younger mech was right or fair with as old as he was. He knew what he felt, and it felt as though his Spark wanted the snarky, standoffish scout, but he also feared an attempt at bonding after what had happened between himself and Ratchet. It had seemed to make sense that a bonding with the medic would work, with as old as they both were, yet their Sparks rejected each other so violently. He vented softly, rubbing Sideswipe's back soothingly as the young silver mech hugged him and rested there in his arms, and Ironhide couldn't help but smile a little in spite of the turmoil within him. He found himself reminded of the early years he spent with the young twins, when they always ran to him for comfort, for praise, for Energon, for one of his stories, and when they were very young they used to sleep in his arms, holding each other as he cradled them. He nuzzled Sideswipe lightly and let himself remember the moments of peace, pushing away the fears and doubts and worries he had. Right now, Sideswipe needed his father, and his father was there for him. In that moment, that was all that mattered to the heavilly built Weapons Specialist.

Sideswipe just rested with his old mentor, a mech who was his father where him and Sunstreaker never had one when they were created. The blades master knew they had been meant to be warriors, it was one of their main functions and they had learned a lot from Ironhide the most, despite Sideswipe having gone off on his own to learn other techniques of fighting and combining it with the training he got from Ironhide. Still no one beat the old mech for being a combat mentor, his father, his family and that would never change, not even now.
After a long time of silence Sideswipe looked at Ironhide with a smile,"Really glad you blasted down my door Ironhide, and for your strong sense of smell otherwise I might have been here for a while trying to get over a hang over. And perhaps this can be the start of stopping that addiction otherwise I'll be facing worse slag then withdrawal, which still hurts as much." He said, shuddering at the pain he went through a little bit ago from the withdrawal. And he didn't think it would be long before he would face another withdrawal episode.

Ironhide nodded at that. "Me too. I suspected somethin' was up, just didn't wanna butt in til it became a problem. Well, it did n I did n here we are now." he replied with a slight chuckle, rubbing Sideswipe's back soothingly. "I expect the next round o' pain ta start up soon, though won't be nearly as bad as the first go round. Ye'll go through a few n each gets less n less harsh til they go away. Figure ye'll go through three er four of 'em. I'll stay here with ya though, help ya through em." he said then, knowing how bad it was for himself and hoping it wouldn't be nearly as bad for Sideswipe. After all, the silver blade master had not been into the high grade for nearly as long as Ironhide had been so long ago.

Sideswipe didn’t seem too thrilled at the sound of possibly having three or four at a time, it actually made his tank hurt thinking about it. Yet no sooner had it come to his thoughts that he clutched his mid-section, the pain returning when it felt like the wires and cables running through his body were knotting up painfully and making the mech have to grab hold of Ironhide just to remain from falling over. It wasn’t as bad yet it was still like equivalent to a sharp couple of punches to the stomach, making the silver blades mast curl up reflexively. Hopefully there would only be one more episode after this since he wasn’t wanting to go through this sort of pain once more. “Primus ‘Hide…”He muttered knowing he had been warned but it made it no less painful.

Ironhide tightened his arms around Sideswipe, pulling him more into the burly mech's lap as he started rocking him gently in an effort to comfort and sooth Sideswipe as much as he could. "I know, 'Sides... I know..." he murmured softly, one hand rubbing the silver mech's back soothingly. He knew the withdrawals came in waves, and this was only the second one, unless one counted what happened in the training yard as the first wave, then this would be the third that Sideswipe was going through. Ironhide expected one or two more at least, and he was not about to break his promise and leave Sideswipe to suffer them alone. He just held the younger mech close, rocking him, rubbing his back, even humming softly like he used to when Sideswipe and his twin brother were mere Hatchlings curled up in his arms. Ironhide didn't mind, he still loved them both as if they were his own, and he showed it when he could, like he showed Sideswipe now. He could only hope Sunstreaker still held such feelings towards him that Sideswipe had.

Sideswipe was curled up for a good ten minutes before the pain began to ease off slightly and he finally was able to uncurl without it paining him as much. Relaxing his body at last he leaned back against Ironhide, hoping this withdrawal wouldn't last that long and it might not since it was only a few months he had been in this addiction. But if it had been anywhere close to like Ironhide had been then he would be suffering for sometime as his former mentor had, luckily that wasn't likely to happen. At least he hoped it wouldn't since he was still a young bot and something like this could come back again and he could end up in worse condition then he was now. "Thanks Ironhide..."He said after a bit, closing his optics as the pain finally ebbed away.

Ironhide nodded, continuing to cradle Sideswipe close, rocking him soothingly. "Yer welcome, 'Sides..." he offered in response, honestly glad he could still be there for his young protege. He offered Sideswipe and light nuzzle cheek plate to cheek plate, remembering the Sparkling he once was so long ago and feeling a bit like he was still cradling that tiny silver Sparkling in his arms now, at least in part. The thought made him smile slightly as the pain in Sideswipe's frame ebbed away, along with the tension. For Ironhide, it simply felt good to be needed once in a while.
