wavelength followed, looking around as they walked ~"Don't worry, I don't have anyone to bring anyways."~ the young mech said as he turned, walking backwards for a bit as he looked around at everything ~"This it really big, how did you find this place?"~ the young mech asked before facing Soundwave once more ~"There's so much I need to learn, so much I want to know but. . .umm, well, I don't want to annoy you, you're being so kind to me."~ he said, giving a bit of a smile.

Soundwave watched him for a moment, letting him explore the cave on his own. ~"Necessity, long ago."~ he responded softly, his voice still deeply modulated, though there was traces of emotion there, which vanished when he spoke up again. ~"Concern unnecessary. Soundwave patient."~ he added in response to Wavelength's worry about being too annoying with all his questions. In all actuality, Soundwave didn't mind the young mechling's curiosity. He felt he owed Wavelength a lot more than he could ever hope to give, and as such, he would do everything in his power to repay that terrible debt, whether Wavelength knew it or not.

~"So how do you do it? You have so much control over your gift, you never use it by mistake, how do you keep yourself from using it by accident? How do you control it so well?"~ the young bot asked, stepping towards Soundwave a bit, still rather excited, after all, he was still rather young and he had not only just met the mech he looked up to so much but apparently Soundwave was willing to accept him instead of being annoyed about the situation.

Soundwave pondered the questions for a moment, considering how he would answer. ~"Logic, focus, discipline. Perfection of control requires practiced experimentation, disciplined reason."~ he answered. He then demonstrated by choosing a single sound out of all the sounds echoing outside in the canyon, isolated it, and amplified it so that one sound was heard above all the others, effectively turning up the volume on one and turning the others down or off completely. The sound he chose was the rippling resonance of a black hole that was feeding on matter that had been caught within it's gravity well and slipped past the Event Horizon. The Gama Ray jets generated a distinct cyclic hiss that seemed to spiral audibly with the thrum of mater being compressed and consumed. A strange sound to be sure, but beautiful to Soundwave. He then gestured to Wavelength. ~"Light, Sound, related Electromagnetic resonance. Choose single source, color, focus on the one, hold it, amplify it, let all others dim."~ he explained, using his demonstration to ilustrate what he meant.

Wavelength listened before looking around a bit ~"I. . .I'll try. . ."~ Wavelength said, looking around. What ever a really pretty color to him? He found a nice bit of light blue reflecting off a part of the wall and decided he'd make the room match that and, as he started to focus, that one color seemed to be growing, it was unsteady and the area around it showed the wisps of the other colors he was trying to remove from the area. ~"This is harder when it's not right next to me. . ."~ he commented, trying to focus on that point. The colored area grew larger before everything in that area looked like it shattered out in millions of colors and shade, those 'shards' fading away and the area returning to looking like nothing ever happened. The young mech sighed then ~"Well it was something. . ."~

Soundwave's gaze softened and he laid his hand on Wavelength's shoulder in a reassuring gesture. ~"Feel the light, call the light to you, let it radiate from you, become the light."~ he coaxed, the modulation in his voice softening, beginning to reveal the soft, deep resonance of his true voice, the monotone beginning to slip away as his words came through in a more conversational syntax rather than his usual command prompt protocol way of wording things. It was an effort to calm Wavelength and help him relax and focus through his jittery nervousness and youthful inexperience. It would take time, he knew; mastery of one's powers was a long and difficult process, but a rewarding one.

~"I'll try again, in a different way."~ Wavelength said before his own color changed once more to that same pretty blue he had found and began to try to expand it out from himself which seemed to be working a bit better. His wings lifted just a bit, in an attempt to gather more light. That light blue began to expand a bit farther though, again, the edges of it were far from crisp, but it was working ~"I got it, I think I got it!"~ he exclaimed, glancing over to Soundwave and, then, with that bit of distraction, there it went, shattering once more, making Wavelength pout a bit ~"I though I got it. . ."~

A soft resonant chuckle rolled out from Soundwave then as he saw the light shatter and Wavelength's little pout. ~"Push away the distractions. All else is irrelevant. Let all other thoughts fade."~ he urged encouragingly, pulling his hand from Wavelength's shoulder and taking a quiet step back. Wavelength was already progressing, and Soundwave wanted him to succeed as he had all those years ago. The difference was, Soundwave had no one to guide him, Wavelength does, and that advantage would help the young mechling progress faster than he did. As he watched, he listened in on Wavelength's ambient surface thoughts, the transmissions in his neural core and throughout his student's chassis, seeking clues on how best to help Wavelength focus.

What was really breaking Wavelength's focus was his excitement over having finally met Soundwave, all of this and a nagging bit of hunger. The poor young mech had gone a couple days without energon and even before then he hadn't been getting enough since his community had been attacked, trying to salvage what he could where he could to keep himself going. He tried it again, getting a little farther, just a tiny bit before that shattered, his wings folding back all the way as he pouted, a little annoyed at himself.

Soundwave stepped forward and gently ran his hand over Wavelength's back in a soothing gesture. ~"Wavelength hungers, need Energon."~ he observed. There was no accusation or admonishment there, only understanding. He knew what it was to go without for extended periods, and young mechlings in particular had it the hardest. He looked back to the circular chamber then and to a heavily shielded compartment he had built into the wall there, triggering the code to open it. Inside was nodes of refined Energon he had collected and stored there for his own purposes, and he had several of such caches scattered around the Canyons in various locations he could easily reach.

~"Yes, it's been hard to find what I need, I've been alone since my colony was attack"~ Wavelength said, glancing over when the compartment opened, that was an offer and, even if it hadn't been, he really did need it and, knowing it was there he moved to it. ~"Thank you."~ he said before going towards the energon and grabbing some, more than most young bots his size would take in but his larger spark needed more. He began to consume some of the energon then, he had been running on near empty for so long. He looked back to Soundwave after he had taken in a decent bit with a small smile ~"I really needed that."~ he said, placing a hand on his chest, right over the fresh engraving there, making him wince just a bit, that was still a bit tender.

Soundwave noted with a mild surprise just how much the young mechling actually took in. He had no way of knowing how early his pod had been pulled from his Beta's chassis, but the resonance of Wavelength's Spark alone told him how large it was compared to his chassis, indicating just how badly stunted he really was. Wavelength should have equaled the Seekers in mass, yet he was smaller than Soundwave, which concerned him more than a little. There wasn't a lot he could do about that now outside of ensuring he had enough to complete his final growth cycle, but there was no way for young Wavelength to artificially increase his own mass by more than ten percent once he was fully grown without putting undue stress on his thin frame. ~"Mechling grow, need Energon."~ he said simply. He noted the slight flinch when Wavelength touched the elaborate marking that curled over his chest with curiosity, tilting his head slightly as if in silent inquiry.

Wavelength took in just a bit more until he was full, moving to sit on the ground of the cavern ~"I normally try to, it's just been hard to get lately."~ the young mech said, noticing that look when he had touched his chest and looking down at the marking on his chest ~"Don't worry about this. . ."~ he said, very lightly running his fingers over the marking, it had only hurt because he had touched it a little too harshly ~"It's my own doing, it just still need to heal a bit. Sensitive from being fresh is all."~ he explained, admiring his own handiwork for a moment.

Soundwave nodded at the explanation. ~"Design: pleasing."~ he offered. He liked how it curled around over Wavelength's chest and side, giving him a unique and quite beautiful chassis marking. He also noted that Wavelength's chassis was void of the chassis lights the rest of their race had, which seemed odd for a mech who's power was over light. He chalked that up to a byproduct of the circumstances surrounding the development of his pod and with how badly stunted he was.

Wavelength gave quite a smile at that ~"Thank you. I don't think it's going to be my last. It hurts to do it but I think it's worth the pain."~ the young mech said, looking over his own work yet again, though not for too long this time. He gave a small sigh, just a content one, happy with being full now and leaned back against the wall, a small yarn coming from him ~"I can't remember the last time I had so much, it feels good."~
