Soundwave nodded and watched him go, glad that Wavelength had chosen to stand up against another Decepticon. He was growing, mentally as well as physically, which he was grateful for. He turned to attend to the last two bodies laying there, then transformed and launched into the air, heading towards the Sonic Canyons and the sheltered cave he and Wavelength shared as a hidden secret lair. Over the last three Ano-Cycles, Soundwave had expanded the small cave, creating two additional rooms and enlarging the main one while securing it from intrusion. It had become more of a home than a reminder of the One he lost, and with Wavelength there, the pain had lessened some. When he arrived back, he stood at the entrance, listening to the sounds from the universe that echoed through the canyons for a moment, gathering his thoughts.

((1 mega-cycle later))
Wavelength remained at a decent height as he flew towards Iacon, his signal well cloaked as was he from vision, he kept open contact with Soundwave however via an very secure com <~"So, what exactly am I supposed to be looking for here?"~> he asked his adoptive father as he cycled around, remaining too high for the sensors to pick up anything and any looking skyward would see nothing. <~"I know you mentioned defense scouting but couldn't I just, I don't know, throw out a light flare and see if anything reacts? They won't pick me up."~>

Up in orbit, Soundwave monitored Wavelength's progress on his first mission. He thought on the young mech's query for a moment, considering the options. <~"Covert Reconnaissance: Remain Undetected. Set off defenses, alert Autobots to intruder presence."~> he answered, though he wondered if any real harm would come from such a thing. <~"Scout troop deployment, East Wall."~> he suggested, then added, <~"Observe Auto-Cannon placements."~> It would not do well to miss those, after all. Wavelength proved to be a fast learner and was already situating himself into his new role fairly well, though he had his occasional issues that needed smoothing out.

<~"Dad, it's private coms, can you drop the command prompt talk at least? I'm already nervious enough."~> Wavelength sent as he banked a bit to pass over the east wall, circling small as he looked over them, the way he saw light hinting him off to something the Autobots, and honestly just about any other bot, would miss <~"There's a weakness in that wall, looked like they drilled too deep when they set in the second cannon, there's a bit of bowing where the screws would be and it goes pretty far down, the angle of that section is a bit too steep, they must had nicked one of the supports inside the wall."~> he said as he banked again, coming for another round.

There was an audible chuckle over the com which sounded a bit odd with the electronic modulation. <~"Apologies, habit acquired over many Giga-Cycles since the Tribal Wars."~> He thought over the first report of the weakness in the wall. He would have to try and find a way to either warn the Autobots or steer the Decepticon forces in a different direction. One thing he did not want was Megatron getting the upper hand and annihilating the Autobots outright. He had grown to realize that such a victory would inevitably result in the Decepticons turning on each other, spelling the extinction of their entire race. Soundwave had to find a way to prevent that nightmare from taking place if at all possible.

<~"I guessed. I want to get in closer, something got my attention. I'll be careful."~> Wavelength said as he broke his circling and flew in a bit lower, making sure he kept cloaked as he flew over the streets of the city to what got his attention, and then he saw it again, red with the same light scatter as optics, as he got closer he saw a hint of the Decepticon insigna <~"There's a Decepticon in that holding cell, I saw the optics and insignia."~> he said, swooping back skyward, not wanting to remain low for long <~"So, what should we do about that one? Have to keep up appearances, right? They seem like a small one from what I could see, and you know how I see."~> Wavelength said was he stalled himself out above the city on purpose, only to flip back over so he was right side up and continue forward, keeping his jets at the lowest he could while still maintaining lift.

Soundwave frowned at that. So the Autobots had a prisoner. <~"Identify prisoner?"~> he asked, curious about who it might be. Depending on the prisoner, he would either leave them where they were or attempt to free them from their cage and give them a fighting chance to escape. With it being a smaller mech, that meant it wasn't a Seeker, which he would have left there unless Megatron ordered otherwise. He was curious as to how the Autobots managed to catch and hold a Decepticon without him learning about it until now, however.

Barricade growled as he paced in his cell. ~"'It'll be easy.' They said."~ He growled lowly to himself. ~"'The Autobots will be too distracted.' Yeah, distracted with using my aft as target-practice."~ He supposed, though, that he shouldn't be complaining too much. He was still online and functional, as opposed to rusting away on the battlefield. ~"Yeah, like I'm important enough for a fraggin' rescue mission."~ He snorted.

<~"Looked like that scout, you know, the one you told me is a magnet for trouble and bad luck."~> Wavelength said as he made another pass over the city <~"You know, the one with that weird flail thing, I forgot his name. So, what you think we should do? Leave him or break him out?"~> Wavelength asked as he took a good look around the city, <~"I could trick the cameras."~>

<~"Barricade. He is important, we must free him before the Autobots move him to a more secure facility."~> he replied cryptically. He couldn't tell Wavelength of Megatron's plans, nor of Soundwave's direct involvement, but Wavelength could help get him freed which would go a long way towards maintaining their cover, even if it was at the expense of another mech's true freedom, at least temporarily. He was not too worried about Wavelength being caught considering how well he had learned to mask his signal and cloak himself into invisibility. Such an advantage would potentially aide Barricade in getting out if Wavelength chose to guide him out of the city.

<~"Alright, I can get in there unnoticed, it'll be good practice."~> Wavelength said before making a dive right towards the building, transforming and keeping himself hidden behind his light trick as he, literally, walked right pass a couple of guards. He had gotten pretty good with being quite, what with his habit of trying to sneak up on Soundwave when he was a bit younger. The slender teen mech made his way to the holding cell, looking at the area around it and recreating it, including an illusion of Barricade before he sent a secure com right to the scout, his tone modulated, just like his adoptive father, though, instead of using that syntax he was just much more proper <~"Barricade, do not panic, I am here to extract you from your current detainment."~> Wavelength told him as he moved to the lock, using his ability with light to trick the sensor and unlock it before letting the illusion around just him drop so Barricade could see him, the slender flier's face mask covering the lower have of his forced calm expression and a hand held out to the scout <~"Be quick, and be silent."~> he lightly warned, keeping up the modulation in his voice.

Soundwave listened and watched closely, making certain Wavelength got in unseen and unheard. He heard his son com Barricade, but the return static he detected told him Barricade's coms were deactivated. Well, that would not do at all, and Soundwave reached through the comlink and hard pinged an override code he had written to remove the blocks the Autobots installed in their Decepticon prisoners. Too many years of war had allowed Soundwave to experiment with such coding and he had noticed the Autobots rarely actually change their installed lock-down codes, much to Soundwave's amusement. Once Barricade's coms were reopened, Soundwave replayed Wavelength's first message, shortly followed by the second right after the young mech appeared right in front of him.

The voice over his comms made Barricade jump, whirling to look around his cell. The appearance of a mech near the once-blocked opening made him activate his weapon on reflex, surprised when it actually deployed. <~"Who th' frag are you?"~> He growled, though, not about to turn the opportunity at escape down, the tri-colored scout stepped forward, though he didn't take the offered hand.

<~"Wavelength. I am Soundwave's offspring. Now come, hesitation is far from conductive to the end goal"~> he sent to Barricade, vibrant red optics on the Decepticon scout. He kept the illusion up, a little annoyed that the mech had hesitated at all <~"Seriously? SERIOUSLY? Here he is being given a chance to get out and he wants to play twenty questions?! Is he always like this Dad?"~> Wavelength sent to Soundwave as he waited for this scout to decide if he wanted out or if he wanted to ask more questions.

Soundwave vented inwardly and shook his head. <~"Barricade is stubborn and suspicious of all, wary, untrusting. Perhaps I can motivate him."~> he answered, then opened a link to Barricade so that both Wavelength and the scout could hear him, but only the two of them. <~"Choice One: Obey Wavelength, escape Autobots. Choice Two: Argue, remain Autobot prisoner. Barricade decide now."~> he told the scout in his distinct modulated monotone, a voice every Decepticon knew and feared to anger. Then, like Wavelength, he waited for Barricade's decision as he monitored the Autobots. Thankfully, with the use of the closed coms, they had yet to hear what was going on and no one had turned to look at the cage yet.
