Wavelength gave quite a smile when Soundwave commented on how his new marking would look once healed <~"Thanks Dad."~> he said and, if he could blush, then he would have. Though when he heard the voice of the seeker and the launch of the missile, he dived back, landing low so he was a much smaller target ~"I am not an Autobot!"~ he protested, then he realized, wait, his optics were blue, a simple trick would cover that up well enough, wouldn't it? And, within a mere moment those vibrant blue optics became just as vibrant of a red as he looked over at that seeker. He stood upright once more, watching the seeker <~"Should I vanish?"~> he asked, not making any move yet, though it was obvious right now that his optics were not blue, he was hoping the seeker would assume he miss-saw previously.

The Seeker's optics narrowed threateningly. ~"So, you got yourself a pet. I knew you had some disturbingly peculiar appetites, Soundwave, but I never thought it went so far as to satisfying your twisted n sadistic appetites with immature mechlings."~ He leered at the smaller mech. ~"He's a pretty n tender one too. I just might have to steal him for myself, make him my personal berth toy."~ he added and ran his glossia across his dentin in a lewd and lecherous manner.
Soundwave bristled at that and as the Seeker fired another volley, Soundwave charged up his cannons and let loose, grabbing hold of the other mech's entire neural system and causing the relays to misfire rapidly, sending the other mech sprawling to the ground twitching madly as the missiles arced wide in response. He then stepped forward, ignoring the missiles as he amplified the power of his sonic cannon array, increasing the pressure and agony as the Seeker went into full blown neural seizures that threatened to shatter his back struts and sever his Asynchronous Transfer Adapter. Soundwave was beyond angry, he was down right seething and it showed as he poured out all of his rage, his hate, and his pain onto the hapless mech, not realizing the two missiles were circling back around towards him and his young protege.

Wavelength, however, saw those missiles and, realizing they couldn't get out of the way in time, he stood, wings coming out as he gathered the light in the area, this was not practiced, this was survival instinct kicking in and an idea that he didn't even know if it would work. From the tips of his wings shot two points of light, quickly forming into a super heated, dense net and, as the missiles met the heat, they exploded, the debris from the missiles themselves pretty much vaporized in said light net, once that was done the net shatters, leaving no trace and he looked back seeing, what Soundwave was doing ~"Dad, stop it. I don't want to see that and he'll never learn if he's dead."~ Wavelength said as he quickly moved to put a hand on Soundwave's back as he formed an illusion of himself in front of Soundwave, to to be sure he'd stop ~"After all, it was me he was targeting, let me make my own point."~

Seeing Wavelength in front of him instead of behind him startled Soundwave just enough for him to lose his focus, his Sonic Cannons wavering, then cutting out altogether, releasing the tortured Seeker to lay there on the ground, still writhing in pain, though the seizures were subsiding rapidly. It was then that Soundwave realized he had lost control and very nearly murdered another mech right in front of Wavelength, and in a rather gruesome way to be sure. He looked at the Decepticon flier a moment, then looked back to the image of Wavelength in front of him before he turned away from both, ashamed of his momentary weakness.

The illusion would vanish once it's purpose had been served ~"Let me deal with him, for now."~ he said, beginning to walk right towards the seeker ~"I need some real world practice after all."~ he added before right out vanishing just as the seeker looked up, giving him only a glimpse of the young flier who was now gone <~"It's alright Dad, I know you were just being protective."~> he sent to Soundwave as he circled where the downed seeker was, not making any moves yet, he wanted to wait until the decepticon had regained enough of his wits for what he planned to do to really make an impact.

Soundwave backed down, though he listened carefully for where Wavelength was, watching from nearby, curious as to what he had in mind. He waited, watching as the Seeker slowly seemed to regain himself, giving Soundwave a vicious glare. ~"You'll pay for that, creeper..."~ he growled painfully, trying to pull himself up to at least a seated position. Soundwave merely looked at him, unmoving and outwardly unmoved, though inside he was still livid but unwilling to act upon it in front of Wavelength.

When the seeker finally made the mistake of moving to stand, Wavelength waited, when he tried to take his first step, however, was the moment that Wavelength tripped him up, hooking a foot under an already unstable ankle and making the seeker fall flat on his face one more ~"I think someone needs his ego deflated."~ Wavelength said, jumping back before the whole area around the seeker went dark and the seeker would see what looked like solid walls around him and a ceiling over him, slowly inching in towards him, Wavelength even concentrating the light a bit more in some places to give the feeling of the air being disturbed by the moving walls ~"You want to touch me? I don't think so. You can't even see where I am."~ Wavelength said as he continued to move about, making it look to the seeker as though the ground itself began to crumble under him as the walls closed in. He tried to make the illusion as realistic as he could and, since it was just simple objects, that couldn't be too hard.

Soundwave watched with growing amusement at what Wavelength was doing, knowing how much fliers hated enclosed spaces, some more terrified of it than others. The belligerent Seeker tried to put up a good bluff until he saw the ground crumbling away beneath him as the walls crushed inward towards him. It was then he began to hunker down, demanding to be let out. It didn't take long for his demands to turn to begging, then to cries of fear as the box closed in on him. To add to the illusion, Soundwave used his sonic cannons to generate the sound of surfaces grinding together, making it sound as if there really were solid walls there, solid walls that were moving against each other as they closed in around him.

~"My my, you're not so cocky now, are you seeker?"~ Wavelength said as he made it appear as is flames started up under where the seeker was, the floor still dropping away ~"Just because someone if young and small doesn't mean they're an easy target. Now, are you so sure that you really want to mess with me?"~ he asked as he duplicated his appearance, he could only manage four copies, not quite good enough to do more and them still look right yet, as he let the illusion of the walls drop away, as though they were crumbling. ~"I suggest that you run, and just when you think you're far enough away and safe, keep running. . ."~ he said, himself and all the copies pacing around the seeker.

Soundwave let the sound shift with the illusion, appearing passive otherwise. As soon as the Seeker saw an opening, he took it, launching into the air and making a run for it. Once the irritation was long gone, Soundwave regarded his young son thoughtfully for a moment. It amused him how Wavelength chose to stand up for himself, using fear to make that Seeker back off. <~"Taking cues from me?"~> he asked, an amused tone in his voice.

As soon as the seeker made a break for it and was a good enough distance away, Wavelength couldn't help by laugh ~"Seriously? He spooked that easy?!"~ he said as his illusions shatter, his optics returning to their normal vivid blue as he looked back to Soundwave. <~"You don't threaten my family and expect me to just sit back."~> Wavelength sent, glancing back to where the seeker ran off to <~"I would rather not make it a habit though. I can't stay in the canyons all the time though and they're going to see me out and about, likely even with you. An assumption like that could put us all in danger. I'm getting older, I can't just stay hidden away and we really don't need something like this happening again. The only way to avoid that is for them to know about me. As much as we both might dislike that idea."~> he added, walking up to his adoptive father.

Soundwave gently pulled Wavelength close to him, holding him. <~"Then you must become cold and ruthless, make them believe you are like me. If they believe you are truly mine, they will think I Forced Spawned you and as my son, they will not touch you. They fear me, fear to harm my symbiotes for my wrath. They must fear to harm you as well."~> he answered firmly, though with as gentle as he knew Wavelength to be, he knew that such a task would be difficult at the very least. <~"Let them believe the cold emotionless nightmare Spawned you and they will not dare to harm you."~> Then out loud in his deeply modulated monotone he added, ~"Soundwave's Hatchling."~ as if those two words alone would remove all doubt.

Wavelength willingly wrapped his arms around his adoptive father to return the hug <~"It'll take some work, but, I'm sure I can manage it. Could just say that I don't have any weapons, but my abilities would be great for stealth, so there's a reason there and it'd allow me not to hurt anyone."~> he said, hugging a bit tighter. <~"I just don't want to risk that happening again."~> he added, looking up and shifting his optic color, a light trick he would have to get use to holding by habit for this to work.

Soundwave nodded at that. <~"As a stealth scout strictly for information gathering, loyal to me as my own Hatchling, larger than my little symbiotes to bring back larger items they can not carry."~> he reasoned. The idea was sound, he just had to ensure that Wavelength understood all the stories about him, what was true, what was false, and why. <~"I am nearly finished here, two more to attend, then we can return home and further instruction begin."~> he said, stepping back a bit.

Wavelength nodded, giving one last squeeze before stepping back <~"Yes, that should work for a story. It was only a matter of time, after all, before it came to this. At least it was just a seeker who stumbled upon us."~> he said, glancing skyward for a moment. Honestly, it would be nice to have a bit more free reign, staying at the canyons was so restrictive and he was tired of the same sights and, now that he had better control of his powers, he wasn't as defenseless as he had been that day Soundwave had found him. <~"I'll wait for you at home, I should get some energon anyways to help the healing process."~> he said, leaping up and transforming, as he did he used his light trick to vanish and began towards that cavern he'd been calling home.
