<"My precious Little Star."> Soundwave responded, a nickname he had given Wavelength long ago in reference to his abilities with light and how he felt towards the young mech. He remained where he was, watching carefully to make sure Wavelength would be alright for now.

As Wavelength came towards him, Wheeljack moved to intercept, offering him support so he wouldn't fall. Being the same general height made things easier for both of them, plus the fact that Wavelength was a little lighter than Wheeljack. "I gotcha." he said, then added, "I know, that's why I wouldn't let you go without at least trying to get ya back." He looked over at Soundwave then, trying not to cringe under that watchful gaze. "I'll take good care of him, I promise." he offered the larger mech. He was relieved to see Soundwave's subtle single not of acknowledgment, and he turned his attention to Wavelength more fully. "You really need to rest n regain your strength first though. We can talk privately, I know a place that's safe on base." he offered.

Wavelength took the offered support from Wheeljack, giving a small nod "I gave much from my systems, it may take me a day or two for me to recover." he admitted, giving a sigh "In private would be best, just to avoid drawing attention from others. Today has already been evenful, wouldn't you agree?" he said, glancing back at Soundwave with a small smile for just a moment before looking back to Wheeljack "I shall follow your lead."

Wheeljack helped Wavelength back to base as Soundwave quietly watched them go before the dark mech slipped away to parts unknown until his Drone had completed its mission. Once back to the base, Wheeljack led him to his own quarters, separate from his lab, and silently signaled the berth to shift into place so Wavelength could sit and relax. "There, safe and quiet here." he assured Wavelength and sat down beside him. "Now, I promised him I'd take care of you n I meant it. So if there's anything you need, you let me know, okay?" he added, though that much sort of went without saying, he said it anyway just so there were no misinterpretations of his intentions with the younger mech.

Wavelength took a seat, venting air from his system just a moment before he just, well, flopped down onto his back "I think it's mostly energon I need right now, but I need to let what I took in earlier process first. Rest will just take time." he said, his optics closing as he put himself into a light stasis, his holoform forming next to his now resting body, moving to brush some of that indigo streaked silver hair from his face "I told you Dad wasn't that bad, he did it to protect us, he's no monster, he's actually pretty deep, taught me much about the universe and those things most don't take the time to appreciate." he said via his holoform, looking up to Wheeljack. The more his body rested, the faster he would recover so that holoform was the best option right now. "What I had meant earlier, Wheeljack, is, well, you guys don't know what I'm capable of. I'm afraid of my own power because of it, really, that was what led me to seek out Soundwave at first, and why I became a Decepticon, I wanted to learn to control my own ability the way he controls his, I didn't want to be that monster again. Seeing my own gift take someone's life, it scared me and I'll forever feel like a monster due to it." Wavelength began to explain. If he was going to get to know these bots, he would have to show he trusted them and, though it was hard for him to do so, to the point that a few tears formed from his holoform, he hoped that doing so would help build some sort of trust between them.

Wheeljack gently picked up Wavelength's holoform, cradled in his hands. "It's okay, really. You'd be surprised just how often some of us wonder if we're really doing the right thing, and some of us have some pretty scary abilities. Take Ironhide for example. He's huge compared to me, but he's a lot more agile than he looks, and deadly accurate with pretty much any gun or cannon out there. They say he likes fighting too much to be an Autobot, yet he made a choice, and truth be told, he's not a bad mech. Grumpy bumpers as he is, get him around Sparklings or human children and watch him turn into a big squishy teddy bear." It was true, even Optimus' strength and shear power could be utterly frightening, yet he was a soft spoken and gentle mech normally. "I suppose it's a trait among true Autobots, gentle Sparks with a strength inside that can sometimes frighten ourselves. It's in what we choose to do with it that matters, not what we can do with it. If you want proof that you're not a monster, look at the choices you've made in your life. Even with being among the Decepticons, you chose peace over warfare." he offered in an effort to reassure him.

Wvaelength's holoform shook it's head "You really don't understand." he said, giving a sigh, gaze downturned. "I was only a child when it happened, you don't know what I am capable of if just startled at the wrong moment." he said, shifting just a bit and adjusting his holoform's clothing some. "Most at least don't have an ability that can trigger so easily. They were coming to try to help me when the community I grew up in was attacked, but they startled me, before I knew it there wasn't much left of them. . .I still have nightmares about it. I have nightmares about a few things, that, what the Dreads have done, and I have a feeling what I saw in Jazz's mind is going to cause those nightmares as well. I'm almost scared to fall into a full recharge cycle since it's so fresh right now. Those sorts of things, when they happen, I end up reliving them. No matter how much I tell myself that me killing that bot was an accident, when you relive it so many times you have a reason to be afraid."

Wheeljack lowered his head slightly, bringing Wavelength's holoform close to his chest. "Taking another life, even in self defense, is not supposed to be easy on the Spark. I honestly don't know how the others deal with that, even with killing Decepticons. I mean, they're the same as us, we're all the same race, but this slagging war is tearing us all apart." He shook his head then and vented a heavy sigh. "But I think it's the reason some of us have such a hard time with it, especially Optimus. I mean, I've sat there n done research on bot anatomy after the others have off lined a Con, n some of my inventions have been used to take out a few, but..." He sighed again. "I can't even begin to imagine the nightmares you've seen, n as much as I want to know what happened to Jazz, I won't ask you to relive that again..."

"It's not like it'll matter, I'm going to when I slip into full recharge anyways. . ." the holoform said, glancing over as he bent the light to play out the scene, all except for that last moment, right before Jazz's actual death, sparing Wheeljack from seeing that. Once the scene was played through he shattered the illusion suddenly, what looked like shards of all colors and hues of light exploding out before simply fading to nothing "He is brave. I'm sure he can get through it." Wavelength said before looking back at Wheeljack "Dad's the only one I ever confided in before, it is strange to talk so freely to someone I hardly know." he said before his holoform sighed, head looking downwards "I need time to think. . ." then, it dissipated leaving only Wavelength's resting body laying on the berth, he looked like he was in recharge though he had actually only put himself into a light stasis.

Wheeljack could only shutter his optics and lower his head, wrapping his arms around himself once Wavelength's holoform vanished. He fought hard to bury the pain he felt then, seeing the nightmare the young mech showed him, and he could well imagine the rest from the files he had seen. His frame shivered slightly, but he refused to cry no matter how much it hurt to know not only the nightmare Jazz was suffering, but to see such a young and gentle Spark as Wavelength suffering that and worse, yet he could do nothing to help. After several moments, he gathered himself again and quietly stood, not sure what he should do now. He looked over at Wavelength for a moment, then lowered his gaze. "I'm sorry..." he offered softly, then turned and moved towards the door.

((3 hours later))
Wavelength had tried to fight it, attempting to keep himself in that light stasis but, sadly, he had failed, falling into full recharge. Though Jazz's terror was the most recent in his mind, it was not that which stole it's way into his nightmares. No, it was the one thing he hadn't made much mentioned of, the Dreads. The young bot stirred slightly as he relived the memory in his mind of when he was trapped in the same room as the Dreads while they had their way with Barricade but, in this nightmare, it was not Barricade being so horridly beaten and used, it was himself. A fear that had haunted him since he had the bad luck to witness the occurrence. Outside the dream his spark was racing, uneven and he was beginning to shift and mutter, over time managing to curl up on his side. The nightmare getting worse still as he felt helpless, weak and afraid.

Wheeljack had spent the last three hours trying to occupy himself, yet he simply could not keep his mind focused for very long, he was worried about Jazz and Wavelength. He had looked in on Jazz and the silver mech was still in recharge with a very concerned Ratchet watching over him. So now he headed back to his quarters to look in on his young charge, hoping he was alright. but when he went in, he saw Wavelength curled up, the sounds coming from him telling Wheeljack only one thing - nightmare. He had dealt with that so many times with the young bots he had adopted and raised that he knew the signs very well. He went over and knelt next to the berth, reaching out to gently lay one hand on the young mech's cheek. "Shhh, it's okay, lil one, you're safe, ole 'Jack's here with ya. Shhhhh..." he offered softly, hoping to gently pull Wavelength out of the nightmare without waking him up. The young bot needed his rest and Wheeljack had long ago managed to perfect the art of pushing away nightmares in young bots yet still allowing them to stay asleep, transitioning to more pleasant dreams. Sometimes they woke up anyway, but he was better at this than most, having raised eleven Sparklings over time.

The moment Wheeljack touched Wavelength, vivid blue optics opened as the young bot jumped back, the area around him growing very dark, very quickly as light swirled around the young flier's back wings, they rose just slightly but, when the breathless bot realize who it was, that it wasn't an attacker, he lowered them once more, those shards of light shattering from around his wings and the room returning to it's normal lighting "Sorry. . ." the heavy venting bot said softly, his optics fading to that vibrant red he normally forced them to stay, habit really. Wavelength gave a small groan, a hand coming up to his helm as he looked down "I must have really been worn out, I normally don't have trouble staying at just stasis. . ." he said, trying to even out his venting, his systems a little overheated from that. "I hope I didn't disturb you. . ."

Wheeljack had pulled back when Wavelength reared up suddenly like that, though he let the young bot calm himself and realize where he was. "It's okay, I just came to check in on you n saw you were having trouble. I didn't mean to startle you." he offered and moved to sit on the edge of the berth. He had seen the shift in the young mech's optic color, but he said nothing about it for now. "Soundwave isn't the only one who adopted lil ones. I've cared for a few, loved them as if they were my own. Even Ironhide raised two, twin brothers actually. I know when someone is having a nightmare. I had gotten pretty good at pulling them from a nightmare into a kinder dream without waking them, just had to learn what worked best for each of them." He felt bad about waking Wavelength, but he also wasn't so sure that waking him had been a bad thing either.

"I know, Wheeljack, you have no idea what I've seen, I've been almost right next to some of the Autobots before and they never knew it. You included." he said, a hand moving to his chest as he hunched over a bit, looking off to the side for a moment, a little distant, it took a few moments for him to speak again "And because of my sneaking around I've seen some things I wish I could forget. . ." he added a little quieter before giving a small sigh and scooting back some, reclining against the wall, hand still resting on his chest. "I'll be alright, it was just a nightmare."
