Jared looked out of the window for a few moments, looking across at the man stood in front of the white Mustang with blue stripes. An exact replica of the one in the picture. What was even more shocking was that the horse off the front was missing. Absent mindedly he put his hand in his front trouser pocket, rubbing the deep cut on the shoulder of the silver horse that his mother had given to him when he was old enough to understand what it was. Eventually he plucked up the courage to exit the car, slowling slightly as he poked his head round the door, shutting it gently behind him. He stared at the man before him; the man in his picture, and he approached cautiously. What if he didn't want a son? What if he just plain didn't like him? Did he remind him too much of his mother? Would he be sent away?

Jack gave the ten year old boy a soft smile, though he was fighting the nervousness he felt. He crouched down so he was closer to eye level with the boy. "Hey there. What's your name?" he asked, though there was a slight, faint waver in his voice that he tried to hide. As he looked at the young boy, he could see a bit of Debi in his features, as well as himself. "My friend here tells me you're looking for someone." he added, hoping the boy would be willing to open up and talk to him, perhaps even explain what happened. He did attempt a passive scan on the boy, confirming he was indeed a Techno Organic and not human. At this close range, he could detect the faint signature the Techno Organics generate, and he could differentiate it from the even more subtle signature of humans.

Chad stepped out fully and leaned on the side of his true form, arms loosely crossed in front of him. He said nothing as he watched, a calm smile on his face. As he stood there, he let his thoughts drift away from the present, remembering different things, thinking about new ones. Mostly, his thoughts were focused on sights that he'd seen, and wanted to paint. He would remain quiet and where he was until he was needed or spoken to.

Getting a bit braver, and establishing that the man wouldn't be one to hurt him, Jared's approach turned into a steady walk as he smiled in response. "Hi. I'm Jared Miller. And, uh, yeah, I'm looking for my Dad." He answered, then got a little more brave, daring to state the obvious in the uncertain silence. "You know... you look a lot like him. I have a picture of both him and my Mom together... next to a Mustang..." Maybe if he continued to drop hints he could get close enough to find out if this really was his father, and hopefully be able to stay with him for a while. This didn't look like too much of a secretive building, so he figured it should be alright if he did. Besides, something told him that even if this wasn't his father, he would be well looked after.

Jack bit his lower lip a bit as he listened to the boy, then glanced back at the white and blue mustang behind him. He looked to the grill then, and to the empty space where the Mustang emblem should be yet remained missing. Miller, that was Debi's last name, and Jared had his old wallet. Did he maybe have the silver horse as well? If he did, he'd know instantly if it was once part of him. "Was her name Debi?" he asked softly as he looked back to Jared, hope rising in him, a faint tremor in his voice. He then started to reach out to Jared through his Spark, hoping that if Jared really was his son, then he would feel that connection and maybe reach for him, hoping to open the creation bond between them at least. Wheeljack began to wonder if what he felt, what he believed was guilt and remorse over Debi was in fact Jared's very presence within his own Spark all this time.

Jared paused for a few moments, now openly sure that this was his father. There was no way he would know that if he wasn't. "Yeah. Yeah it was." He replied, following the man's gaze to the front bumper which was absent of it's usual logo. Once again he put his hand into his front trouser pocket, rubbing his finger along the deep scratch on the horse that his mother had given to him after the crash. He could indeed feel the strange connection reaching for him, and out of plain curiousity he reached back. Something snapped. A wave of emotions hit him. Guilt. Remorse. Nervousness. He was close enough to be within hugging distance now, and before anything else happened. He had one last thing to do. "I think this belongs to you." He said, taking out the wallet from his other pocket and passing it to his Dad. That was going to take some getting used to, but he was pretty sure he could manage.

Jack sank completely to his knees as he felt Jared reach back for him, then saw the wallet in his hand. He recognized it immediately, despite the fact that it had been missing for ten years. The fact that Jared had the wallet meant Debi had heard about the crash and gone to where it was, likely believing he had died in that crash. He gingerly took the wallet, looking at the worn leather in his hands as his eyes misted over a bit. "She... went to the crash..." he whispered softly then and closed his eyes. "I tried to find her, I looked everywhere. Then I..." he stopped short and looked to Jared then. "She thought I was dead, didn't she?" he asked softly, lowering his gaze to the wallet in his hands. He shivered slightly, bringing one hand up to his chest. This ten year old boy was his son, there was no other explanation. He reached out through the bond then, hoping, praying Jared knew how to respond. //"Jared, can you hear me? Can you feel me within your heart, in your thoughts?"\\ he asked tentatively and looked at Jared, fighting back tears.

Jared nodded solemnly in response to his Dad's question. Of course she had thought he was dead, even if there had been no driver in the car when it had crashed. The wreckage had apparently been so severe that the Police would've bet anything that no one could've survived it. "For a while, I did too." He admitted quietly. But he had guessed his last surviving parent was just that, then; a survivalist. Beating all the odds. He then jumped slightly in surprise at the voice in his... mind? Yes, that voice was inside him, and for some reason he knew instinctively how to respond. //"Dad?\\ He asked, using the word out loud, or sort of, for the first time as he experimented with the strange new sensation. //"What is this?"\\ Despite the unknown bond that he now obviously had with his father, it felt right to use it, and more importantly, it felt private.

Jack almost cried out when Jared responded through the now open creation bond, and as tears fell over his cheeks, he gathered Jared into his arms, hugging the boy tightly, protectively. The car behind him shuddered slightly, emitting a faint cry of its own as Jack hugged his son. //"It's proof you are my son. It's a creation bond, something no one can hear, no one can touch."\\ he answered, the feeling of intense joy, relief, sorrow, and pain with the realization that not only was Jared his son, but that he had missed so much of his life already. //"I'm so sorry... I should have stayed... I wanted to stay... I'm so sorry..."\\ he offered tearfully through the bond, unable to say it verbally but needing to tell his son, to show him how he felt.

Without missing a beat, Jared hugged back tightly, his own eyes starting to well up with tears, having not known such an affection for so long. Now he actually had a parent, and a unique parent at that. He did notice the car behind shudder, but he wouldn't ask about that for now. What he did want to know came first. //"But... how? Where's it from?"\\ He asked. It almost seemed alien to him. Alien... wait a minute... The crash. The crash had been described as horrific, with the bodywork in the wrong places. What if... What if the car had been in mid transformation when the crash had happened? Maybe his father was one of the alien robots he had been looking for? That might very well explain the strange bond that he now had with his Dad.

Jack held Jared for a long few moments, taking a few deep breaths to steady himself and calm down enough to explain, though fear rose up in him knowing he would have to explain to Jared what he really was, fear that Jared would hate his kind like his mother had, fear his own son would reject him, fear that Jared could feel. //"There are things you don't know, things your mom never knew about me."\\ he began softly, then pulled back just enough to look at his son, laying one hand on Jared's cheek. //"Please, don't be afraid..."\\ he pleaded softly, then closed his eyes. //"The bond we share is common among my kind, it's called a Creation Bond. As much as I loved your mom, I couldn't stay. She believed I was human, and I could not bear her hatred of me if she ever found out what I really was..."\\ he offered as gently as he could.
He then sat back on his heels, still kneeling in front of Jared, one hand on the boy's shoulder. //"Please, don't be afraid."\\ he pleaded again, then the white and blue Mustang seemed to warp, twist, and fold in on itself before standing up, becoming an eighteen foot tall robotic being that wore the exterior of the Mustang as armor and looked at Jared with glowing blue optics. Then Jack's hand slipped from Jared's shoulder and with a nervous smile, the human visage flickered and vanished, revealing the robotic nanoform underneath for a moment before it dissipated into a cloud of nanocells which drifted back to the large robot and were reabsorbed.
//"This is my true self, Jared, who I really am: Wheeljack, Autobot Mechanical Engineer and Inventor from a world far away called Cybertron. You're half human, half Autobot, making you a very rare Techno Organic, and even among ones like you, rarer still because you're a natural born, not artificially created like most. So rare, and so very special."\\ he explained softly, kneeling down where he was, not moving any closer for fear of frightening his son. Jared could feel his fear and apprehension, but also his hope and his love for Jared, a literal dream come true; to have a Sparkling, a child that was truly his own.

//"Your kind?"\\ Jared asked curiously as his Dad mentioned what the Creation Bond was. His own guilt passed through the bond when his mother was mentioned; he missed her so much, and he had barely known her. He was confused by how many times he was told to not be afraid, though. //"I'm not afraid, Dad."\\ He assured his only parent. There was no reason for him to be afraid, was there? Had his Dad done something so horribly wrong? Was that why he was telling him not to be afraid?
What happened next caused his jaw to fall open. Jared could only watch as the Mustang behind them shifted into a giant... alien... robot... He had been right! His father, his own father, was one of the robots that his mother had hated! That's why he'd left. But he himself could never bring himself to hate them. It just hadn't seemed right. After the man before him had disappeared, he concentrated solely on the robot, listening to the introduction and the explanation. But fear and apprehension practically radiated from his Dad. Was he scared of hurting his son?
Then that needed to be fixed. Carefully, he withdrew the Mustang logo form his front pocket, stepping forward to lay it across Jack's chest, where it should be on the front bumper of the car itself. As he held it there, he looked up at the bright blue eyes with a smile. //"I could never hate you, Dad. You're the only parent I have now, so we need to stick together. I'm not afraid. I never will be."\\

An odd, almost choked sound came from Wheeljack then, his expression one of relief as he closed his optics and wrapped his powerful arms gently around Jared, lifting his son off the ground and hugging him close. That understanding was all he needed, and his fear melted away, leaving only such deep and profound joy in the big mech that his very Spark ached. When he opened his optics to look at Jared, he smiled softly. //"Keep it, a piece of me to keep close to you; I'll even put a chain on it for you. I wouldn't want anyone else to have it but you. You've had it for ten years already and I see no reason to take it away now. I could have replaced it long ago, but couldn't bear to do so. But now, I think.. I think I can finally let myself do so."\\ he offered softly, bringing his son up just enough so he could touch his forehead to Jared's, a gesture of deep affection.

Jared smiled and nodded, pocketing the horse once more as heleaned in for a closer hug. He had the confidence that his Dad would be gentle when he hugged him like this; no one would just squish the son they had only just met, after all. He echoed the joy through the bond, glad that he had himself a proper family now. He would never be alone again. But he wanted to learn more about his heritage. He'd never heard of Cybertron after all. //"Hey Dad? What's Cybertron like? Is it bigger than Earth? How far away is it?"\\ He asked, figuring that he ought to get such matters out of the way first, just in case something popped up that required him to know about his robot half. He did wonder why it hadn't been exposed yet. Maybe it needed a trigger?

Wheeljack chuckled in response to Jared's sudden barrage of questions about a heritage he had just discovered. //"I'll tell you all about it, I'll even show you my memories of it, I promise."\\ he assured Jared, carefully scooting his son up to perch on his shoulder. He then looked over at Chasm as nanocells swarmed from his grill and formed the silver Mustang that had been lost ten years ago, a replacement for the very one his son now carried. "Thanks Chasm. You have no idea how much this really means to me, to both of us. I owe you so much for finding my son and bringing him home to me." he offered the young painter mech, sincere gratitude in his voice. He then looked to Jared and remembered one other thing. "As for whatever's left of the ten thousand dollars that was in my wallet, that was always meant for your mom; and though I had no idea about you at the time, by extension it was meant for you too. I have no need of it and thought it best to give it to her when I went looking for her. What you do with it is your choice, it's all yours now." he assured Jared, making sure Chasm could hear what he said as a witness so no one could try to take the money away from his son. It was important that nothing be taken from Jared, and Wheeljack made it very clear through the bond that he would fight to the death to protect Jared and make sure no one would be able to take his son from him, ever.
