Wheeljack nodded in agreement to the private com Wavelength sent him, he knew well just how incredibly painful the war had been for a lot of bots, himself included. But as Wheeljack listened to Ironhide speak, he found himself shocked to learn so much he had never known about the burly mech and his past. "Primus..." he whispered softly, then looked to Wavelength, praying for good news, for Ironhide's sake.

Wavelength actually refused to let go when Ironhide tried to step away, his small, fragile arms gripping tighter to the large black Autobot, mostly because he did remind him so much of that old protector "The past is just that, the past, we all have the option to either live in the past or move forward." Wavelength stated as the illusion shattered in that normal, yet beautiful fashion "Hardboot is still out there someplace, he left with the youngest of the sparklings to try to find a place of peace, where a new generation could grow without knowing war. He offered to take me but I refused, I still had things I needed to do. I don't know where he is now but, I do know that he and the sparklings make it out of Cybertron's range safely." he told Ironhide, still clung to him, even if it meant Ironhide dragging him! His optics barely glanced to Wheeljack then <"I know where they are, but I don't want to guide them here until this war is over.>" he sent to Wheeljack privately.

Ironhide vented a sigh of relief when Wavelength told him Hardboot was still alive and still out there somewhere. His hand slowly moved from his chest to lay against Wavelength's cheek, a soft smile gradually returning to his features. He was glad of that hope, that at least some part of his family had survived. "He's all I got left. Just hope I'll live long enough ta see him again. I shoulda stayed with 'im, coulda saved his progenitors n we'd all be t'gether, out there somewhere." he said, looking up at the stars. He vented a heavy sigh then and pulled Wavelength close, lowering his head to nuzzle the young mech. "Much as I wanna see 'im, much as I need 'im here, I'd rather he be free, out there, watchin' over lil ones like you, like my brother did." he told Wavelength softly, his optics shuttered.

Wheeljack nodded slightly in response. <"At least they're safe n some were saved from the war. I think Ironhide should go to him, though. We've all been hurt so badly in this war, but I had no idea how horribly and deeply scarred his Spark really was, til now. He hides it so well, none of us knew how much he was really hurting..."> he answered, stepping up and laying one hand on the back of Ironhide's shoulder. "You'll see him again, just like I know in my Spark I'll see my lil ones again." he offered softly to the burly mech.

<"It'd be risky, it could lead the Decepticons to them, the last thing we want is for that to happen."> Wavelength sent to Wheeljack "You will see them again, once it's safe, the ones who he was keeping safe, they aren't combatants and it is best to keep them far from battle." Wavelength said before finally releasing Ironhide and stepping back once more. He glanced to Wheeljack then "Not to be a burden Wheeljack but the energon that I have taken in already was not a sufficient amount."

Ironhide nodded and let Wavelength go. "The lil ones dun need ta get caught up in all this." he agreed. "Long as Hardboot is okay, then my life dun matter. My family'll survive through him." he added and stepped back. He regarded Wavelength curiously for a moment, then looked to Wheeljack when the young bot mentioned the need for more Energon. "Not like ya ta be stingy on the Energon fer somebot who needs it, 'Jack." he queried curiously, wondering why Wavelength was still hungering.

Wheeljack gave Ironhide a hurt look. "No, Ironhide, I gave him as much as I intake." he protested indignantly. He then looked to Wavelength for a moment. "Would it be okay if I scanned you? I need to see something." he asked the young bot. He knew Wavelength's pod had been pulled from his Beta's chassis early because she was dying, which reasonably meant the young bot was stunted. But how badly was the real question, and the only way to figure that out was to scan Wavelength's Spark; the size of his Spark would be the true indicator of just how badly he was stunted from being pulled from his Carrier too soon.

"Don't say that, your life still matters. You have those who care about you after all. If you'll not try your best to survive for the sake of your family continuing, then at least do so for the sake of those you've become family to." Wavelength said to the older bot, though when the topic turned to his intake, Wavelength looked down a bit sheepishly, a hand coming up to mess with those crystals again "It is not his fault, I failed to mention that my needs are greater than those my size by near three times. If you wish to scan me you may however I can inform you now that my spark is the size of one who is over 38 feet in height." Wavelength informed Wheeljack, knowing that was where this was going.

Ironhide vented softly, glanced towards the main hangar, then nodded, lowering his head a bit. "I'm a grumpy old mech. Ain't no One fer me, n if there was, prolly killed in the war by now." he said and shook his head. He didn't fully believe that, as much as he acted like he did. His Spark still held out hope for one he loved to come back to him, one that was closer now than he had been since before the war. It would take time, but Ironhide was patient. He waited this long, he could bide his time a little longer.
When he heard that Wavelength's Spark was larger than for a bot his size, especially with him being so horribly stunted, it made his Spark ache remembering all the lost young Sparklings he had found in Kaon, some he managed to rescue and save, others he was too late to save, and all of them suffering from various levels of Energon starvation, many of them stunted because of that. "Wish I coulda found ya when ya were little, ya wouldn't 've starved so bad like that, wouldn't 've starved at all..." he remarked, his tone suggesting he had seen too many who had suffered in his long life.

He nodded and went ahead and scanned Wavelength, not only to confirm what he said, but to check the condition of his Spark and neural system, as well as Energon levels. "I'll go get ya more Energon, you need it from what this is telling me. Kinda wish you'd told me sooner though." he said, offering a light smile.

"And all those here who care for you do not matter Ironhide? Sounds rather selfish to me." Wavelength commented to the old mech, though it was in jest, jest with a point, but in jest. Though when the older mech mentioned starving, Wavelength shook his head "It was not starvation that caused my growth to be stunted, I was removed from my mother too early during the fall of Crystal City, that is the cause of my small frame." he explained. In truth, he didn't have much issue getting energon in the most crucial stages and, while there was a rough spot when he was a young teen, it hadn't lasted for too long.
He turned to Wheeljack then "I did not wish to seem greedy." he answered. The results of the scan would show everything else was in perfect working order aside from his larger spark and even that caused no issues. There wasn't a single sign of the young mech having ever taken any type of heavy damage, or even moderate damage. Besides the markings he had purposely etched into his frame, he had never physically been harmed.

Ironhide looked at Wavelength for a moment. "There's friends, n I got those. But there's a big difference between friends n yer One. The Spark cries out fer yer One n there's only ever One, friends happen over time n there can be lots o' those. But bein' with Cons fer so long I can understand why ya dunno the difference. Cons ain't the Spark Bondin' type." he replied, an unintended note of bitterness in his voice. In response to the reason for him being so stunted, he nodded in acknowledgment. "Yeah, that'll do it. War ain't good fer anybot, 'specially the lil ones."

Wheeljack smiled at him once the scans were finished. "You're a lucky little bot, you know that? Primus' been looking out for you real well despite the rough start you had. Don't worry about it though, at least I know why now and can get you what you need." he responded. "I'll be right back." and with that he headed towards the main hangar and the Energon storage.

It had taken Soundwave a little time to get Alex out of the base and out of Texas, but once done he moved quickly to get her back to the Autobot base, though he stopped well outside the base in a hidden location before transforming back to his bot form and opening the compartment Alex was in, letting her climb out onto his hand so he could set her on the ground. Once she was safely on the ground, he rescanned himself into a custom 2010 Chevy Orlando van, silver with blue markings and lights, then popped open his passenger door for her, his signals heavily masked. He would not get too close to the Autobot base's northern gate, but he would get within sight of it and let her out to make the rest of the way on her own. No conversation was necessary and Soundwave didn't really speak much along the way, in the air or on the road. His focus was getting Alex back to the Autobots, and he didn't want to spoil the surprise waiting for her there. As he neared the gate, however, he did signal Wavelength to watch the northern gate between the Autobot's main hangar and the lake.

It was easy enough for Alex to follow what Soundwave intended for her to do, though the lack of conversation did feel the slightest bit awkward. She knew Soundwave wasn't exactly chatty, a trait she found somewhat ironic for someone who handled communications, so she didn't try to push for conversation at all. Heck, it seemed she held more conversation with Ravage than she did with Soundwave. In the silence, though, her mind continued to swim with questions. Everything had changed so suddenly and she had no idea what to expect next, no idea where they were even headed or why. All she could do for now was wait and see.
